Probably not rare but not everyone would do it.
A lot of people don't need much excuse to look after number one. As we have seen in the pandemic. There's an alarming number of people who will actually take what they don't have rights to if they can get away with it. And they'll have some nonsense reason to justify it.
So I think it's nice to see nice things celebrated.
I know you weren't having a dig though so let's hear it for Sir Wolfie too! ?

I think you highlight one of the realistic better case scenarios. I.e. We get taken over quickly, we clear or mostly clear the debt, the stuff with the EFL is resolved, we go down but retain a good amount of the current squad/academy talent and essentially hit league 1 with a clean slate. I think if that happens we could probably bounce back and rebuild fairly quickly.
The issues come if either a new buyer isn't found quickly or the stuff with the EFL continues to rumble on past this season.

If we have a buyer lined up and this will be the last points deduction we could effectively start our league 1 rebuild come jan.

It’s a shame it kills the season for us but we fight on, still many games to attend and memories to be made.

I genuinely believe we will get new owners, that many of the woes of daft salaries and unsustainable finances will, to a certain extent be reset. I also know we will go down, but I’ll be shouting for the team at every home game. We can ride that, they still play football worth watching in league 1 and we can come back.
My huge huge fear is a second major deduction … so we end up in league one, on minus points with quality players leaving, the guts ripped out of us and the smell of death hanging over us. why would they stay, why would anyone want to join ? The after shocks would just go on.

    23/09/2020 - 2 games into the season, 0 points
    8 games into the season - 5 points (1W, 2D)
I didn't think we played that badly in the early games, aside from Blackburn when half a squad was missing due to injury. There was a clear (to me) identity of play, even if it wasn't being implemented fully. We were only knocked out of the cup because a penalty was wrongly awarded against us. Jozwiak's goal wrongly ruled out. A sublime pass from Bird to Knight, leaving him 1-on-1 wrongly ruled offside (10 yards onside). Just those 2 goals could have resulted in 4 or 5 more points and we would have been a very different season.
Bad luck resulted in a massive drop-off in confidence and performances even when all players returned from injury.

Started looking for admin advice 3 weeks ago, just days after the transfer window closed...
It begs the question why we didn't sell player(s) when we had the chance to avoid admin

Exactly right. Right now we are still playing for something, circumstances could transpire that take it beyond our control but we can't set our stall out like they've already happened.

That's the irony of his situation; the thing that is arguably his biggest achievement, the thing he said he wanted to build around and the thing he always points to as a positive ...will be the first thing to go on the scrap heap when the adminstrators get their teeth in.

When you look at it like that, with 38 games still to play that's not impossible to overturn. We need to effectively make up 9 points.
The thing that will likely kill us off though is a combination of further sanctions and asset stripping.

It's a worry for sure but the two things I'd say to that are.
You can make the argument that we've got several players with personal attachment to the club having come throught he academy and/or model pros (i.e. Davies) that might be willing to weather the storm for a little bit.
There is an incentive for all players to keep playing till January to secure a better contract elsewhere.

You could be right but my thinking is that if a buyer is going to come in it's more likely to be before January.
A buyer comes in now and they likely can keep a lot of the club infastructure in place i.e. staff, academy, training facilities etc.. also by coming in now they can likely keep a good chunk of the squad intact. So that if/when we hit league 1 we have something to build back from.
But if this ends up going into January everything that can be sold off before then will have been already and then all the squad gets put up for sale. At that point the squad will be largely being sold to service the debt more so than keeping the club afloat. What this means is any buyer at the point has a substantially bigger job on their hands; they'd basically need to rebuild large chunks of the club from the ground up as well as clearing the debt as well trying to build a new squad for league 1. So if somebody does want to come in they are likely going to do it before that point.
I think what I'm trying to get at is that I think if we hit January with no new owner we've likely passed a point of no return and the probability of liquidation shoots through the roof.

Right now they have to just focus on staying up. Try to avoid adding League 1 to the list of problems. That's one thing all of them can control at least until January.
Fans can also support the push so that whatever comes next the fans and players did their bit to help.

When my son was born I always said I’d take him to his first Derby game when he was 5 years old. I wanted him to experience the same buzz outside the ground before a game, the smell of the hot dogs and burger vans and the sharp intake of breath the first time he ever walked up the stairs and gazed upon the pitch.
He just turned 5 and I’m absolutely devastated, this was a moment I’ve been planning since before he was even born. I can’t bring him into this, this is not how he should have to remember his first few months supporting a club that will become a part of him for the rest of his life.
my worry is, if I don’t take him soon there might not be a club to take him to for much longer.
This whole thing is devastating and you can feel how it’s affected the whole City.

I just want to say that I am a realist and I know the likelihood involved, but if we're admitting defeat and saying relegation is a certainty only 8 games into the season, we might as well fold the club now
You've got to believe it can be done. A bit of wild hope never hurt anyone. If we've got this defeatist attitude already, don't be surprised to get tonked every game now until the end of the season. How can the players have any belief if we as the fans don't?
Call me an idiot if you like but come on. Let's give it a try, no?

He won't remember FFP and administration, he will remember all the things you mentioned in your first paragraph. The atmosphere at the Stoke game was very positive and will be v Reading and Swansea.
