    There’s some irony here.
when Keogh made his calamitous error at Wembley the fans scapegoated him. Now they’re getting all upset because they feel he’s been made a scapegoat. Derby fans are a weird bunch.

Long overdue. What strikes me is the arrogance of Keogh in assuming that he is entitled to £1.62m over the 15 months he is likely to be out injured for (worked out at £25k per week)
He was employed on those terms purely as a professional footballer. Due to his own idiotic actions, he is unable to fulfil his contract to be a professional footballer. What did he think he was going to be doing of benefit to the club during those 15 months? Be an ambassador for the club? Be an example to the young players? The club have offered to still pay him & to aid his rehabilitation - he should count himself lucky on both scores but clearly lacks the humility to even be grateful for that.
I do understand the argument that the treatment of Lawrence & Bennett seems very lenient in comparison. The differentiation though is that a) there would be a higher standard of behaviour expected from an experienced player and a club captain and the obvious one that b) Keogh is unable to play for the foreseeable future whilst the other two can.

Do we think Keogh was surprised by this outcome?.
    How would we tell?
FWIW I'm glad he's not lurking round the club & hope that Lawrence & Bennett are sold in January. There's seemingly a toxic atmosphere around the club this season & it needs getting rid of.
Maybe this was a condition of the incoming investment?......

30 pages of conjecture. People have become experts on misconduct proceedings, law, and clearly have access to the collision report as well as any internal fact finding the club conducted because there’s so much stated on here about what should and shouldn’t have happened.
it’s bound to happen as we know he’s been sacked and we have only a few “club statement” lines. Therefore as fans we want/need to discuss it but a lot of people are coming up with verdicts with less information than the club has and chastising the club for what has happened. Hopefully in 14 days time we will hear more and can take a better standpoint on the situation. Until then I’ll reserve judgement.

It’s like a conversation I had with my brother in law when the drink drive story came out. He called them a disgrace and that they should be sacked, he’s a spurs fan.  I asked him if Lloris was sacked? He laughed and said he was barely drunk and these two we next level drunk and are a lot worse. After the court hearing it transpires that neither of them blew near Lloris’s reading which was over twice the limit. Point is people judge from bits of information when they should wait for more facts.

How would @Bristol City have handled it? Myself, I think the Club have handled it correctly. They have been put in an invidious position; the crux is that Keogh is no longer able to fulfill his contract due to self-inflicted injury; was offered a reduced contract which he declined leaving the Club with no alternative.
It’s all straightforward if the facts are adhered to.
The Club have been badly let down by certain players and I feel sorry for Mel Morris.
The whole thing is tough on Keogh too but he is the architect of his own downfall I’m afraid.

I’m at PP Saturday and paying good money to watch. I’d like to see Keogh playing, I’ve liked him for 7 years.

He can’t play, he did something very stupid and can’t play for a very long time. We shouldn’t honour £25k PER WEEK, to somebody who can’t play for that long. He’s decided to walk away from the club when the club offered him a good deal. Greedy bstard thought he should get more, Wker.

Well done Derby, you are dealing with this the best way possible and the only party coming out with any credence.

If people have already forgot, Morris is having to deal with something that Should never have happened and is veering too far away from our season.

Good riddance to Keogh and the other two when the time is right.

You don't get to sack your club captain without good reason. Something went on here that is more than just 'he should have known better'. I don't know what, but there sure is a what.

Couldn’t agree more. Mel Morris has taken us backwards with his decision making in all aspects of the running of the club over the last 4 years and this cynical sacking has the stamp of our chairman all over it.
    We need a fresh start.

Absolutely. There’s an awful lot of experts on here. Keogh has committed gross misconduct. It does not say what it was that he did but seems it was more gross than the other two.
Don’t forget the club commitment to support Lawrence, suffering mental issues following the death of his mother either, yet you want him sacked?

This entirely. The last thing we need now as a club is to ditch the manager or get on his back. We have to support him, I believe this is absolutely critical.

Reading some of these replies is hilarious. Most of you all would cry for a refund for your £30 away ticket if we performed badly, but expect Mel Morris to fork out £2m to a guy who effectively stuck his middle finger up at every single one of you by:
1 - Getting himself involved in such activities as club captain.
2 - Wanting to leach your money sat in the physio room.
This guy is an absolute clown. Good riddance to him! duck off and don't ever come back.

Because "we will not tolerate" doesn't mean "we will immediately sack"
The club haven't tolerated Lawrence & Bennett's actions, they've fined them 8 weeks wages. Whether you think that's sufficient or not is immaterial, their behaviour hasn't been tolerated.
You've got to forget about Lawrence & Bennett's situation when assessing Keogh's. Each case it different.
The first thought wasn't to sack any of the three - Keogh has been offered the chance to stay at the club, who'll pay for his rehabilitation and give him a wage while he recovers from his injury. If he was being offered an absolute pittance then I can understand him rejecting the offer, but ultimately he and he alone is responsible for his current situation, no matter who'd car he was in, no matter who was driving, he is responsible for his own actions and the outcome of them.
I strongly doubt the offer we made would have been leaving him to hang out and dry financially, but I don't know that. What I do know is that his decision not to take it up ensures exactly that, not just financially but in terms of getting the support needed during his rehab, and I think it's a very stupid one to have made.
Would any of the people outraged by the decision to sack him really be happy if we were continuing to pay him 25k a week in wages for 18 months when it's his own fault he's unavailable?

Yes, but the other two are able to play and earn their wages now.
if they ended up in prison for their crimes, then I’m sure they’d be facing a similar offer. We’re not going to pay them for sitting in jail.
But while they’re able to play, they’ve served their time, they’ve been punished in the eyes of the club and the law, so they carry on playing and getting paid for it.
This all seems completely sensible to me.
Keogh has sidelined himself through an unnecessary, avoidable, and non work related incident. So we shouldn’t have to pay him silly wages. Imagine if you could get yourself a massive contract, then just accidentally break your leg and sit the rest of the contract out on full wages.
Sean Barker, for example, is a different case, as he got his injury in the line of duty.

Echo the sentiments here. Too many parents dont understand the priviledge and responsibility of having children though. As someone who will never have them myself, I find it absolutely appalling. Society is broken and its not donald trump, jeremy corbyn or anyone elses fault. We need to take responsibility for our actions and raise kids with principles, values and morals
