Posh v Bolton will be Peterborough’s seventh game in 20 days - they’ll be exhausted and also saving themselves for the playoffs.  Before that, Bolton have two home games against lowly opposition.  I know anyone can lose to anyone else on their day, but Bolton v Pompey is clearly massive for us.

Yes it is. It’s the difference between us finishing second or first. C’mon Bolton!!

Lets hope they beat Bolton by a few. Seconds fine for me.  Shame they don't have Peterborough as well.  Crafty gits only 2 points behind if they win their 2 in hand against pub teams.  Barnsley have 4 tough away games so unless they puts laxatives in their water bottles can't see them catching up to second.

If we win all ours it won’t matter. It’s in our hands. Second’s alright I guess, but I’ve never seen us win anything in my life time, just the playoffs once. We were second with Jim smith. If you could guarantee me a play off win, I’d rather take that. Second’s just a bit meh.

mind you, Ipswich were second. If we emulate that, I’ll be well pleased.

  3. I’d have taken that. But to really come for pompey now we’re looking for maximum points from our last 4 games and they need to win 2, lose 2 and draw 1. That’s doable. It’s still on I reckon. They’ve still got Bolton, Barnsley and Lincoln to play. We’ve got nothing but winnable games from here on out.

in fact, they only have one team to play that currently lower than the highest team we have to play Wycombe.

i know this is tempting far too much fate, but it really should be plain sailing for us from now on, but Portsmouth have a few tricky fixtures to navigate.

Yes they hold the record along with us.

We've both reached the playoffs a record eight times and only been promoted once each. They've only reached the final once though.

I'd say we're both due a bit of success.

I think we shared the record for longest stay in the championship too. Along with Forest. So if we can share a bit of their fortune, form, whatever and follow their trajectory, that would be nice.

  5. If we lose any of our last three games, that would be a s*** day. But I’d expect us to win all of those, and if we do, we’re up. Simple as. If we get a result tomorrow, that will be a good day, but if we loose, it’s really not the end of the world. A disappointing day does not make a s*** day. I’m disappointed when I don’t win the lotto on a Saturday, but it’s not really worth crying about. I’d have a lot of s*** days if that was my barometer.

  6. I wasn’t sure if I could possibly say anything comforting here. But also couldn’t just leave it with a like on your post. I’ve been thinking about you over Easter, and have everything crossed for your second scan.

Whatever the outcome though, it sounds like there’s some hard decisions to come.

Life absolutely sucks sometimes. But at some point in the future, could be a year, could be 5 years, could be ten years, you’ll be happy, and you’ll look back and wonder how the hell you got through this. But you did. And whatever has happened, all the good, and the bad, has got you to that point of being happy, whatever that looks like. it might seem like a long way off, but it’s there waiting for you.

always remember “this too shall pass.”

That all of our competitors won and won well….how could it have been any worse? I was hopeful that Reading would get a point, same with Orient. Jehovah Jehovah 🤣

Exactly. That was you being hopeful, not realistic. I hope to be awoken with a bj every morning, but I can’t call it a s*** day just because I’m not.

Arsenal took 4 points off City and Liverpool this season, while City and Liverpool got two against each other.

In the table between the three it goes:

    Arsenal 8 pts

    City 3pts

    Liverpool 3 pts

Basically Arsenal gained 5 points on the both. If they don’t win the PL, they will have themselves to blame for dropping points elsewhere - notably against West Ham and Fulham.

Liverpool have the best record against the PL’s lesser teams. I don’t see where they drop points in 2 or 3 of their final 9 games to allow City in.

City still have Spurs and Brighton away, where they will drop points. Arsenal have them too, plus Man Utd away.

Liverpool’s hardest game left is Villa away but their style of football will beat Villa.

Liverpool have got United again. As crap as United are, they can beat anyone on their day.

(yes, that is an absolute dig at United, they are in the category of Brighton now, where they can ‘beat anyone in their day’).

City weren’t good. Not sure why Arsenal didn’t go for it more, as a draw just makes Liverpool favorites now. Arsenal have the hardest run in of the three teams, while Liverpool have the easiest.

Liverpool don’t have big Champions League or FA Cup games to go either.

Liverpool will win the league and should win the Europa League too. A treble is a good send off for Klopp.

    Screenshotted.

  10. Man Utd are so s***!! And I heard Ohara on talk sport talking about how they could make a late charge for the too 4. They’re literally closer to 12th than they are to Tottenham. Just cos they’re in 6th doesn’t make them any good. And they’ve scraped through most games to get them the few points that they’ve got. Every time they beat some nothing team like Everton, it’s all ‘oh, this is the turning point for United.’ No it’s not. They’re just crap. One half decent result isn’t going to change the 20 appalling performances. Beating Liverpool in the cup makes no difference when they get dumped out by Coventry and get out played by Brentford in their next game.

Belgium and Croatia both lost to the eventual champions.

    England didn’t.

You’re not wrong that we’ve fallen at the seemingly more difficult hurdles. But we can only beat what’s in front of us, which we face fine without any significant dramas (since Iceland), and when we’ve come up against tougher opposition, we’ve hit bloody close.

there’s an alternate timeline somewhere where Saka scored a penalty, and Kane scored a penalty, and we’re now back to back euro and World Cup winners. It’s all such ridiculously fine margins, especially in international tournament football when one bad day, one bad result, means you’re out and essentially have to wait 2 years to pick yourself back up and have another go.

  12. Omg! Leicester, Leicester are falling apart again.

from where they were, to where they are is a remarkable loss of form. it’d be hilarious if they don’t get promoted.

Only problem with that scenario is that it increases Leeds chances of getting autos.

    C’mon Ipswich and Southampton!

When you use the term "Thereabouts" when referring to a difference of £13m, it shows just what a shiteshow football has become.

    It's almost like... "£13 million?  Pfft!" 🙄

I'm struggling to fall out of love with Derby County FC, but I feckin' detest football!

I feel the same. When teams are haggling over £10m for a player like it’s is haggling over 50p at the market, it makes me sick. Like it’s nothing. But it would be a life changing lottery win for any normal person.

Like Trump manifesting $4b overnight. Why can’t normal people have that sort of money, or just tiny bit of it.

Wait until Fishy finds out where Marinikas gets his funds from 😱 Then again a free ride on the Noor one and no questions asked

Is that really a good look for the prime minister to be posing for photos with an alleged drug smuggler? What has the PM gained from that. Maybe a couple of votes from the 3 or 4 Forest fans. But when marinakis eventually gets convicted of something, these photos are bound to come back like trump and Epstein.

Brilliant, they're going to end up deducted 6.

That is so stupid of them. How do they not realise they got off lightly? They couldn’t possibly get any less points tramen off. They can’t expect it to be reduced to zero, so what, they’ll reduce it to 2pts, best case scenario. What difference will that really make? And why would any sanctioning body agree to that? As a punishment, it’s no deterrent at all. What do they hope to gain from this? But worst case scenario, they know they were awarded 2 pts back for cooperating, so they logically should have that reapplied by default. 2pts in the opposite direction really could make a difference.

Right now they’re just 1pt behind Luton. That should be an achievable target. If they can’t make that up on the pitch, then they don’t deserve to be in the premier league. This appeal will just distract them and probably loose them more points on the pitch than they could hope to gain in court.

I’ll absolutely piss myself if they get docked an extra 2pts and go down by one. How incredible would that be?!
