I love Curtis I hope he manages us one day, but he really does look like he's running in treacle now, against a better opposition I hope it doesn't catch us out playing 3 at the back with him there we were lucky at one point today.

Well that was an extremely comfortable afternoon in the sun, Wildsmith should have brought his deckchair and magazine to read.
3 points on the board, back into the top 6 and our destiny in our own hands again, cheers Burton, smell ya later 👋

    Full-time!
Back in to the top 6, a 4-goal swing in the goal difference with Peterborough, firmly back in our hands.
I don't think today could have gone too much better for us. COYR.

I came away last night thinking that was a pretty good away performance but you wouldn't think so reading this thread. For a team struggling for form I thought the formation, changes and performance were more than deserving of the three points. Quite liked having Sibley and NML more central, gave us the opportunity to run at them inside instead of whacking aimless balls down the flanks (which there were still too many - Fozzy especially, just brain dead football). Davies was colossal, Knight had his work cut out at RB with a pair of tricky left wing backs and the rest of the team were generally tidy and competed.
The only disappointment was JW dropping one in the net - the last 10 shouldn't have been that tight but we do like to make things hard for ourselves. Felt like Dobbin had a chance to seal it but maybe from our angle it wasn't as bigger chance as it felt at the time.
On JW's antics - didn't mind it (proper under the cosh) but don't want to see too much of it if we can help. The fiasco with the Exeter player was laughable but I'm not sure you can hammer JW for it. Idiotic on their players part when chasing the game, probably the most naive thing I've seen since Collins slapped that Port Vale player in the face. Only themselves to blame. He left a bit on JW second time around so would have been more than happy for JW to milk it again to be honest.
Exeter looked a bit disjointed, similar to how we have looked recently. Too many sloppy passes going out of play/straight through to JW but to be fair we pressed ok, especially second half. Never felt that threatened all game but they did have a great chance first half where JW has dug us out. Tidy enough team though.
Whisper it quietly, 3 at the back is unbeaten in 4...

Do I like to see Wildsmith feigning injury? No.
Was the Exeter fullback stupid enough to go up and make physical contact inviting the incident? Yes.
He leaves the goalkeeper alone and it's a straight countdown for the referee to determine whether time-wasting is occurring. Mind you, he turned his back and ran up the pitch on every occasion, he was really struggling to keep up with play last night.

Is this the case? Sounds like he's taken the scattergun approach and I don't think it could be further from the truth.
It appears that after the 3 losses in a row (where we have played 4-2-3-1 consistently since the turn of the year?) Warne tried to change things up. He left out Fozzy and went back to the 3-5-2. Since then, we've played 3-5-2 with pretty much the same 11 (exact same eleven in Saturday's case). Interestingly (with the outcry for the return of the 4-2-3-1), we're unbeaten since the change back to his preferred formation, with a points tally that should be more than 5 from 9 given our performances. I don't really like the 3-5-2 but there's a few positives getting lost in the weeds because they don't apply to certain arguments/preferences.

I don't massively care how we line up. We've played well and played badly whether it's a 4 or a 3 at the back. I just don't want to see Collins running through treacle to bounce balls 10 yards off his first touch like a dog with a balloon.

Why you ask? Simply because of my dad. He took me to PP when I was about 6 or 7 (against Leeds if memory serves me correctly, lost 1-0, a penalty I believe), been hooked ever since. My parents took me to France 20 odd years ago, still didn't stop me from being Derby mad and all it took was 1 game... I try to go back as often as I can, and watch everything on ramstv (thank god for that!).
To be honest, and let's put it this way, I have more often not been entertained (style-wise) than I have. Even on the unbeaten run, the footie wasn't that bad, but it wasn't fantastic either, lot's of long balls and the midfield (one of the strong points of the squad based on personnel available) is often bypassed. I suppose it comes down to opinions, I prefer to see footie played on the ground with midfield runners, some prefer other things 🤷‍♂️

I am not Warne out just yet. Never said I was. I just don't really get they way he is trying to play given the fact the we have some damn technically gifted footballers in our squad.

Genuine question, why did you choose Derby County if you watch football to be entertained? How many pure entertaining seasons have we had in your lifetime that you've witnessed? 2? 3? I have no doubt you'll remember some seasons as entertaining based on League finish (making the play offs or in and around), something that will no doubt not be afforded to PW.
Were you not entertained vs MK Dons? Were you entertained during the 16 game unbeaten run? The last 10 games or so, minus a couple of good halves and the MK performance has been below par no doubt, but is that the only sample you're willing to discuss? I know as fans we're very reactionary to what we've just seen but there's got to be some context.
That aside, I don't think it would sit right with me sacking a manager and having to pay him off, barely months after we have just shafted the tax man. Maybe it was irresponsible of DC to give out such a long contract but I'm happy to sit tight and see how it plays out for a fair bit yet.

I don’t think possession stats hold much value at all. At this time of the season, and with our current form, the result was everything. We went 0-1 up away from home after 4 minutes, of course a reasonable home team were going to have possession. But they didn’t score until they were given a penalty. They had very few shots on target, less than we did actually. If we’d got the 0-1 away win I would have been delighted.

Rubbish performance, fine. Got a point arguably we didn’t deserve. Peterborough and Wycombe lost, did you all miss that? So we bettered their results regardless of how poor the performance was. We’re in 7th, 1 point closer to the play off places, and still have games to play.
It might not be likely, it is still possible, this isn’t “happy clapping” it’s very simply the reality of our ongoing season, you mardy lot 😊

I’m all too aware, just got to keep trying to encourage a little change in perspective.
I know Warne isn’t the greatest manager, I know he doesn’t play the prettiest style of football, but to keep banging the drum that our team on paper is the best in the league just ignores reality. We have some good players, they’re doing well to be in and around the play off places, we don’t have the right blend of players that Plymouth/Ipswich/Sheff Wed and others have been able to put together which is why they’re better than us and we are just about where we should be based on the squad we have paper and performances on the pitch, I don’t get why people can’t see or accept that 🤷🏻‍♂️
