Poor team selection, poor batting, wretched pitch.

Rubbish really. No way a test match should be over in 2 days.
17 wickets in 2 sessions, including 5 for 8 by a part-time bowler. Today has been a complete lottery.
-
A special mention to Jonny Bairstow, who has made a real statement about his test future over the last couple if days...

I’m not saying they are all batting well. And there will be outliers of course. But Pope’s not playing the wrong line. He’s assuming a ball with significant revs on it is going to turn. As it did last ball and the one before. The consistency is coming from the Indian spinners. The variation is coming mostly from the pitch. Root plays spin as well as anyone - so does Pope in fact - and half the time he’s having to guess what the pitch will do
the Indian commentators are massively down playing the effect of the pitch and the English are too PC to really say what they think
The commentators seem to be completely ignoring the pitch.

We couldn't have any complaints in the 2nd test with the pitch as India made 600 runs.
But when Root and Leach skittle the best batting lineup in the world for just over 100 then the pitch isn't really up to standard.
There is a lot of talk about Ashwin getting to 400 wickets so quickly. He's been slow if anything looking at this pitch!
If he bowls on these kind of pitches, how come he hasn't got more wickets?

It's easy to be mardy when we look like losing, but surely there will be an enquiry into this wicket? It isn't a five day test wicket, that's for sure!
It's a disgrace and they will almost certainly get away with it.
The commentators were just talking about the the pitch getting slower. It's the 2nd session of day 2.
Also, there was a lot of (rather foolish) talk coming out of the England camp about quick bowlers and the pink ball. Lo and behold we get a pitch where a fast bowler can't put their front foot down safely.
-
Is the pitch for the next one going to be the same?

Already a shambles

Andrew Strauss: A crucial wicket at just the right time.
Me: No, the right time was an hour ago.

I’ve seen those loads of times given out .
Slow motion is ridiculous because you can’t tell on one angle .
Soft signal was out so you have to have conclusive evidence to overturn
It hit the ground.

We should have a wicket .
Soft signal was out .
Turned over by 3rd Umpire
It looked not out to me.
-
And now the England captain and 2 senior players are arguing with the umpire. Unseemly.

I have no idea as he just can’t bat .
He only ever throws the bat on good pitches or in T20 games.
For me him and Anderson are just bowlers
Anderson is a better batsman

So Stuart, go out there and stick fast so we can a) get as many runs as possible and b) make sure we can last until the evening session and make the most of the conditions. Do it for the team.
Nah.

I'm pleased cricket is back on terrestrial TV but Channel 4's coverage is so dull compared to Sky.
For me it's fine. I don't need bells and whistles and I don't need some senile old fart singing Neil Diamond.
Perhaps it's just that I hate Neil Diamond.

Looks like Archer is out so we may get Broad and Anderson after all.
