Cos if he did brilliantly we wouldn't want to keep him. ?
We won't keep him. We can't keep him. Any serious offer, he'll be sold, so the better he does, the more we'll get.

Hopefully he does brilliantly and we can flog him for shed loads

Sitting back a bit too much.
Doing a Derby.

Yes up front - did you miss seeing Foden, Mount and Sterling plus a bit of Harry?
Southgate would get Brazil to play like Italy (of old)!
I saw it. I just wondered whether you did.

Walker looks like a mistake waiting to happen. Pickford's distribution is poor.
Southgate is so predictably ordinary. Meh.
Did you see anything good?

It's not a game of 11 vs 11. It's 16 vs 16, especially in temperatures in the high 20s.
Grealish will get his chance.

I don't normally watch the build up to games and I have just remembered why. All the talk about how good Croatian players are has suddenly made me incredibly skittish.

Just my opinion you obviously think it's a good team selection.
It's not the team I'd have selected but my selection would have been based entirely on watching these players on the telly and not working with them in training, understanding their states of mind, their niggles etc.
I'm not a tactical genius, I get no thrill from 'calling' something. I'm just looking forward to the game and the tournament. If yesterday's events taught me anything, it is that we should enjoy stuff while we have it.

To play a right back at left back when you have Chilwell and Shaw good left backs, Mings at Centre Back, no Grealish one of our best players.
I'm not sure how any of that counts as 'pathetic' One might even call it courageous to play a full back on the opposite side and to not pick 'one of our best players'. The opposite of 'pathetic'.
You might not agree with this alleged team selection and it might even make you angry but I don't see how such a selection is pathetic.
PS Italy did just fine the other night with a right-footed left back.

I don't understand. What's 'pathetic'?

If I had my mortgage on one of Sibley, Creepy and Bairstow getting a test 50 currently, I know who my money would be on. Bairstow was averaging 41 in tests up until quite recently before his dip in form. Butler will keep wicket but Bairstow is a better keeper than Bracey. Just have to agree to disagree.
Given that your mortgage is a debt you owe, you would be betting someone else's money, so what does it matter? ?
I wonder what the chances would be of getting said mortgage if you told the bank you were going to bet it on an England batter getting a 50.
Sibley got a 50 in the last test. I don't know who 'creepy' is.

It seems to me that the only reason we have Rooney as manager is that his name will attract players who are impressed by the name.
This Crooks fellow seems exactly the kind of player who wouldn't be impressed by that kind of thing.

How have the press seemingly got hold of the team before it's been officially announced? A leaky camp hardly seems a recipe for a strong team spirit.
Also, Grealish is a good player but he is far far from 'must start' level.
It might not be the team, of course.
I remember years ago, Matt Le Tissier told his brother he was playing against Italy. The brother then went and blabbed to all and sundry and Italy suddenly had that extra bit of info they needed. Italy won the match.

Looks like it is Pickford; Walker, Stones, Mings, Trippier; Rice, Phillips; Foden, Mount, Sterling; Kane.
Yuck.
What's 'yuck' about it?

Really ? He averages 34 in Tests, just under 50 in 1 day internationals and averages 42 in first class matches. Not too shabby for me..
He doesn't have the temperament for test batting (he's also not a very good wicket keeper). He doesn't have the ability to concentrate and adapt to circumstances. He's good in the limited overs stuff but that's not important. Keep him away from the test team.

I would play Bairstow ahead of Sibley and Creepy Jnr…
I wouldn't play Bairstow in anything where batting for more than 6 or 7 overs is desirable.

I think this is a very weak England team. The Ashes team will look a lot different with Stokes, Butler, Archer, Woakes and Bairstow back in the mix…
True. I would be surprised if Bairstow played though.

Silly? It was you that was happy with the BBC basically showing someone dying and told the other poster he could have turned it off.
You seem to have dreamt some of that. The only bit that is accurate is the bit about turning it off.
The illocutionary force related to people taking responsibility for their own viewing rather than relying on the broadcaster to make the decision for them. But you can read 'happy with the BBC' if it cheers you up.

So you're comfortable with the BBC airing anything because there is the option to turn it off?
Personally I am happy with tv stations airing anything, as long as I am not having to fund the channel.
Oh dear, oh dear. It's not all or nothing. Don't be so silly.
You don't have to fund it. You can opt not to have the BBC.

I see Gary Lineker apologised for the images and try to pass the buck to whoever supplied them, but the BBC could have cut away earlier - it was very distressing to watch and there should be some comeback imo.
Having said that, it did show the how quickly the ref responded to what was unfolding and the impressive work by the medical staff ?
Furthermore, Kjaer's role in checking Eriksen hadn't swallowed his tongue and putting him in the recovery position and Schmeichel for keeping a cool head and literally being everywhere he was needed without getting in the way was also hugely impressive. I'm pretty sure I would have been one of the ones turning away feeling sick.
You could have turned it off
