    Very succinctly written, Kernow
We all have February slump PTSD so I do sympathise with those that are panicking
There’s a good chance I’ll also be sharpening my pitchfork at the end of the season if we don’t go up but for now, I’m not blinded by the “lack of entertainment” when this always has been a results business
How so many posters are convincing themselves that promotion almost isn’t worth it if Warne’s in charge shows how far from reality you can get when you dislike a manager. I remember thinking the same when Rowett was in charge but if we’d been promoted with him then we wouldn’t be here now - I couldn’t have been more wrong
I’ll put the tin hat on and say Warne’s biggest issue is managing the expectations of a bunch of pearl clutchers who can’t sit through the grim reality of League One football at their precious Derby County and boo the team

Realistically, David Clowes is not going to be sacking Paul Warne before the 27th April.
No matter how poor the football has been, and now recently results too, we are still second. Barnsley & Bolton have games in hand (against each other), but as it stands we’re second because we’ve won more points than all but 1 of the teams in our league this season.
I don’t think Warne is the long term answer, and if we don’t go up this season then that’s the point I would expect the change.
I personally don’t see the benefit of turning against the manager and the team at this stage when all it’s going to do is hinder the team further. It might not be very pretty but we can still get out of this league, and right now I think that’s the most important thing.

    Okay, I'll be that guy...
Were we terrible tonight?! I don't think so. To my eye we looked the better team and should have won. Not inspiring by any stretch but still the better side with more than enough opportunities to take 3 points.
On Saturday at Barnsley we were equal to them.
I accept we play a fairly pragmatic brand of football under Warne, it's not my idea of entertaining football but not every dropped point has to be used as a stick to beat him with. It's league 1 in the winter, it's going to be ugly at times.
Some people's expectations feel unrealistic given all the circumstances. We are not going to win every game playing total football. People calling for him to be sacked whilst we're second in the league or because their crystal ball says we'll be crap in the championship is frankly bizarre!
I agree that he has to stop tinkering with 3 at the back and stick with some version of 4-3-3 but I don't see that as the primary reason we lost tonight.
We are still second, it is still all to play for.
    Tin hat on.

We have great crowds every week which rarely drop below 26k (and mostly well above) despite "the football".
If its were going to drop off,it's taking a long time,he's been here nearly two seasons.
The doommongers and anti warne brigade live in their own world on this forum,I'd be surprised if many actually go the games.

Look, I’ll preface this by saying I originally wanted us to keep Rosenior and, if we don’t go up, I’d be interested in a new manager with a more attacking style of play. I also may be playing devil’s advocate a bit… but I can see why Clowes would keep Warne
You’re blowing valuable cash to sack a manager and his team when we’re primed to actually spend a decent wedge of money on the squad for the first time in years.
He’s still technically only had one full season and will have an opportunity to make the squad his own. He inherited Rosenior’s team so you could argue he deserves a chance with a squad that will be almost entirely his - Hourihane really isn’t a Warne player for example but Ebou Adams fits like a glove.
The playing staff may well want him to stay, can’t say for certain that Warne’s popular but they seem to be well motivated and getting results
He has been promoted multiple times before, we’ve improved on last season, we’re in automatics contention this year - who’s to say next year wouldn’t be the year we win the whole thing by ten points?
Also, if you sack him, he’ll be rocking up to Pride Park next season with Rotherham and all the evidence says they’ll be a serious promotion contender. If I’m Clowes, I’d have the worst case scenario in my head of watching Warne get promoted again while we waste a year trying to implement a new, more attractive playing style to satisfy the fans (who will then piss and moan about us passing it around the back)
Like I said, I’m not sold on Warne but I’m prepared for another season if it happens.
The fanbase loudly rejecting another year of “Warneball” in the fallout of this season is what would get him the sack imo there’s lots of reasons to stick with him

Think we got cup finalled by Barnsley today
Filled their stadium, got their fans riled up, made the most of the home advantage and we shrank into ourselves under the pressure in our biggest game of the season so far
But Barnsley also caught us at a bad time, we’re without a striker and Gayle wasn’t ready to start. That doesn’t excuse the headless passing but we’d have made more of our chances with Collo playing today. It was still a fairly even game.
We’ll have a similar situation at Pompey so we need to learn from this and get a result there to make up for today. We also need to make sure we’re the ones ‘cup finalling’ Bolton when they come to town.
Stopping the calls for the head of a manager who’s clearly not getting sacked would be a good start.

    a) Attending football matches is not compulsory. If you don’t enjoy it, perhaps try doing something else on a Saturday afternoon. I promise you, you won’t be missed.
    b) This is utter nonsense. We are second in the League. Any fan who works as part of a team that is second best out of 24 is not losing their job. They are probably getting a large bonus. The job of the players is to get us promotion. They may or may not achieve it, but they are on track so far.
    c) May I ask what you were expecting for this season?? Win most games 5-0 and cruise to promotion?? We have only been promoted automatically once in the last 37 years, and now we have a great chance to make it twice. Two more away wins would make this our best away season ever. 20 more points from the last 12 games would make this our best season in modern times (in terms of total points and points per game since 3 points for a win; I’m not equating it to winning the entire League). We may not achieve that but goodness me, if this is the most negative you’ve ever been then I don’t know what to tell you. But it’s definitely a you problem, not the problem of the current players, manager and owner.

If you go through the thread, there’s a flurry of “Warne Outs” around the final whistle
You can’t sack him if he gets us promoted and I can’t believe there’s people who honestly are suggesting that - I’m sure top quality managers would be flocking to manage a club that sacks managers that get them promoted!
If we don’t go up, I think there’s a serious conversation to be had whether we should go in a different direction but don’t be surprised if Clowes backs Warne again.
