It’s good news. The whole point is not for the MPs to get the EFL to settle today - they won’t - but to be part of the pressure ratcheting up on the EFL to get to the point of agreement.
So far the EFL have interfered in all the wrong places and not interfered when they should have done. They can’t ignore the MPs and won’t, especially when they know that an independent regulator, which they don’t want, is on the Government’s agenda. So MPs pressure on them is both uncomfortable for them and important for us.  They need to be encouraged to find solutions and that’s what the meeting will help to do.

Not only that, but he sits on a board which has a club representative that includes the CEO of Middlesbrough.....
Someone he will talk to regularly, have personal contact details to and will see in person.
Yet he still doesn't know what the claim is that potentially could send a founder club to the wall.
Rick Parry. You come across as incompetent. Or worse than incompetent. But I won't write that on here.

It is starting to look a little bit like the EFL are going to be under serious pressure to do something about it.
At the moment it looks like Derby have bids that would appear to be credible enough to take to the creditors, which meet legal requirements. The EFL simply cannot be seen to let a club in that situation go to the wall. The bidders know that, Quantuma know that, we all know it and the EFL know it too.
One thing I found amazing this weekend was Parry saying he was not aware of the legitimacy of the claims as he hadn’t seen them. Of course you’d expect him not to comment on them, but the chairman of the EFL has not taken the time to study the claims, from one EFL club to another, that might see one of his clubs go out of business. Just utterly ludicrous and shows the arrogance of not just him but the EFL as a whole. I suspect he will be making sure he is aware of what the claims entail soon.

    Anger, sadness and fear.
Angry because the EFL as the governing body should be helping to sort this out, because two member clubs are solely pursuing their own interests vindictively and because all three of those parties could put a stop to it now. In 5 minutes flat. But show no signs of wanting to do so - quite the contrary in fact. Angry because they are playing not only with my club, my passion, but also with the livelihoods of many within it and lives around it.
Sadness because, and I appreciate this might not be a common held view, a fan made money, bought the football club he’d supported as a boy, invested heavily, had success and made mistakes and his (and our) dreams weren’t realised. If football - all sport - can’t be about achieving dreams then it is nothing. If football just has to be about big clubs earning more and more money by being on TV, which it increasingly is, then it is losing its romance.
And fear because we are back where we were pre-Maxwell, post Maxwell and during and post the 3 amigos. Although we, in the end, came out of those periods OK the football and financial regulations are now very different. A successful outcome this time is by no means guaranteed. We will need some luck, a lot of hard work and some people with some money willing to take a risk.

We can help, us fans. We can turn up, be loud and be encouraging. We can create pressure on opposition players, on media, on opposition fans and on two clubs and one organisation. We can be a reason why someone will want to invest.

And (almost) everyone could be correct.
If it is Ashley and he came to the game late in the day then he may not have yet given the efl the financial security they need to be comfortable that we will play all our matches this season - integrity of the competition etc  Other bidders may have done that
so it might be that any announcement later is that, subject to certain conditions being met, Ashley will be the owner. That’ll be fine.
Hopefully, but we don’t know, negotiations with creditors and other interested parties will already be well developed. That will still need to be finally agreed and will take some time. How long depends on how they go. And they could go wrong. But in the meantime the preferred owner has every interest in keeping us competitive. For this season and into next.
