Err that would be an entirely new case, if it were to happen.
For which we'd have mitigation given the EFL left it years before challenging our amortisation policy.

Delighted for Derby County. The idea of any points deduction, let alone a retrospective one, was a nonsense in the circumstances. The full written reasons of the DC make clear why any points deduction would be wholly disproportionate and I urge anyone interested to read them.

Load of subjective nonsense. From your own carefully selected texts...
"We accept that the club has at no time sought to mislead the EFL"
"In all other respects (bar the one line in our accounts describing out amortisation policy) we accept that the club has acted with candour and transparency in its dealings with the EFL"
If these appear damning condemnations, rather than mealy-mouthed excuses for their inept handling of the investigations and subsequent appeals, then fair enough, but we'll have to agree to disagree. It was openly accepted that the EFL failed to understand the methodology used and the terminology that described it. Somehow, that has morphed, in the minds of some, into some carefully orchestrated campaign to hoodwink the EFL.
The focus should not now be further baseless accusations levelled at a club who have been driven to the brink, but rather on the astounding lack of professionalism displayed by a sporting body who have shown themselves to be both hugely hypocritical and vindictive in equal measures. If their board had an ounce of self-respect, then resignations would be being submitted as we speak, yet despite this pointless and ultimately fruitless campaign against the club, their noses will remain firmly in the trough.
Frankly, I think the club have remained remarkably dignified in the their conduct over the course of the last 18 months, certainly when compared to the EFL, Gibson and that utter gobshite of an owner at Wycombe.

Another battle won, but the war not over. Need the accounts in, and us out of Um Bongo, and we need the takeover urgently too.
Worth pausing to say that Steve Gibson and Rick Parry can get ducked too.

There's a definite implication that we've been less than transparent in many statements, below are a selection. It appears the DC got a bit impatient with the "EFL is against us/Mel" argument in their responses to several statements too.

Nope. It's because their lawyers told them they had no appeal grounds: "...following consultation with our legal advisors, the EFL Board has regrettably determined that there are insufficient grounds to appeal the sanction imposed by the Independent Disciplinary Commission."

Think some of us have been arguing that point for over a year now, midst all the doom mongering. When our accounts show us comfortably within the regs, will you still be taking the view there was a meaningful case to answer?
Has the end justified the means or are you still expecting further sanctions, as has been your stance throughout?

The EFL is deeply disappointed at how this has ended.
The feeling is the written reasons left them no realistic prospect of success with any appeal and therefore to proceed would have been counter-productive.
They do feel they have won an argument over the amortisation of players and will now press for a rule change to prevent any other club following the path Derby created.
As per the previous judgement, Derby now have to resubmit accounts by 18 August. The EFL will then assess them to see whether they meet their profit and sustainability rules.
However, any decision on that and subsequent case will have no effect on the start of the 2021-22 season. Derby will play in the Championship and Wycombe in League One.

I guess we will get the report within the next week which takes us to 9th July. The EFL (and ourselves) then have 14 days to appeal the decision which takes us to 23rd July. We don't have to publish our new accounts until the 18th August.
I would say should we be within P&S that we would put in our accounts almost immediately after the EFL take a decision on whether to appeal the £100k fine. I think that would get the transfer embargo off our back.
Nevertheless, I would also advise if we are going to fall foul that we will wait until the very last day to put in our accounts, at least until after the first game or two have been played. It would mean that we keep our Championship position, but will have had to battle with a transfer embargo on top of having next to no players whatsoever. It would just mean that Mel won't lose £10m in income for this next season. It would definitely mean almost certain relegation, but Mel will be hoping to be long gone by then.
Modern day football, eh? Don't you just love it!

I think that is a bit of a myth when you read through all the findings.  The EFL trust clubs to do the summary correctly. They check whether a breach has occurred, if not they wait for the audited accounts to confirm what was stated in the summary then move on.  They basically rely on the auditors but as we can see it is an incredibly naive approach.  Part of the audit should require the auditors to confirm the summary is correct.  If later it is proved otherwise it is the auditors who hang

Maddest thing ever? I think you should have look at how the EFL compiled last season's curtailed League 1 table.
League One reaction: Peterborough have been cheated says Barry Fry - BBC Sport

"I've been in the game 60 years and it's the biggest disappointment I've ever had," (Barry Fry )
"I feel my club has been cheated for the chance of promotion."
Peterborough - who had taken 22 points from their last nine games - finished seventh after the table was rejigged. Wycombe, who had a game in hand on Posh, climbed from eighth to third.
"Your form at home, your form away, they took nothing into consideration, I think it's been a disgrace the way it's been handled from day one," Fry added.
If you look at the fixtures played, Wycombe were one of three sides in the top 6 to play bottom side Bolton, Peterborough, meanwhile, had faced every top six rival home & away, bar one.
The most sensible thing is not to reward failure either, however that would lead to a lop-sided division. Another sensible decision, which is probably the most likely if we are found to have broken Profit & Sustainability rules, is to hand us a hefty points deduction to send a message that any financial irregularities will be dealt with in the most severe manner & not tolerated.
Yes, I agree the EFL could not do a lot more, forcing Rotherham to play with a weakened squad (like Bolton, Wigan in crisis) would have damaged the competition, giving a competitive advantage to their opponents, so the other option of playing every other two days became the only feasible one. There may have to come a time when Championship sides also play on international weekends, despite call-ups (perhaps in the same way some have to continue playing despite losing a player to Covid) rather than the intense schedule that seems to follow afterwards.
