Charlton Athletic are set to sue Derby County for £25 million after the ball burst in the 1946 FA Cup Final. If it hadn’t burst then we might have won or got some good players or something, said a Charlton spokesman. Meanwhile Ipswich Town also announced they were going to sue Derby County due to some reason or other. We might have won more games if they hadn’t beaten us in them, cited an Ipswich spokesman. It simply wasn’t fair that they had better players and scored more goals. We want £40 million and Martyn Waghorn back.
Meanwhile American fast food chain McDonalds announced that they were going to sue Derby County for fielding a player with their brand name. Flagrant breach of copyright, claimed a spokesman for the evil corporation.
In other news the EFL announced a further 9 points deduction for Derby County after the midlands side finished their 0-0 draw against Swansea with 5 full backs on the pitch. Everyone knows you should have two full backs, said a source close to Rick Parry. Derby ended the game with 5 players who full back could be considered their tecognised position. That is clearly too many. We checked the rules but couldn’t find anything specific about this so we all agreed that 3 points per extra full back sounded about right.

Meanwhile Wycombe have announced they aren’t going to sue Derby County for getting them relegated by buying Nick Blackman when they were two leagues below after they realised it was totally ridiculous and so far fetched as to be laughable.

*Has anything ever gone wrong with your football club? Not won enough points? Let in last minute winners to players who can’t even drive and park their car properly? Why not sue Derby County? Contact Gibson and Parry Solicitors for your claim form.

Well, the way I see it is what’s the point of a billionaire owning a championship club? He canna spend big without breaking the FFP again.
As soon as the millionaire reaches the prem he sells it to a billionaire.
That’s football business, and what Mel would have done.

Bit of credit where it’s due to Steve Nicholson who got his article out before anyone else naming Chris Kirchner.

He said the EFL are doing a wonderful job. I’m out. If his letter had a crude drawing of a rooster and balls with an arrow pointing at it saying ‘This is Steve Gibson this is’ then I might have been convinced. As it stands, not for me.

"I'm not a billionare, not sure that matters"
OK dude, no, it doesn't matter.
What does matter is you're probably going to losing between £1m and £2m a month on this thing and running out of that makes fans pretty mad. Unless you get to PL you're not likely to get any of that money back. If the fun and status of owning an english football club is worth that to you and you can afford to sustain those losses, welcome aboard.

Not impressed to be honest from what I can see online at least. My business turns over significantly more than this outfit (Slync. io) and I certainly can't afford to buy DCFC, wouldn't be able to fund it for a month...I think this is another Erik Alonso, emperor has no clothes, raises their profile by attaching themselves to DCFC and flatters egos. But no money to back it up.

Exactly , wasnt us that delayed it
and more to the point if they can press charges against us
then can we not do the same for both villa and qpr that beat us by breaking ffp in those two years ( by more than us lol) and so gained an unfair sporting advantage

Can see why people would be having flashbacks to Erik Alonso over this, but think there’s two key differences here:
    1. The administrators aren’t Mel. There’s no way this guy makes it to the stage of making an official bid if he doesn’t prove he at least has some money.
    2. Slync.io is a legitimate company. They sponsor a number of top level golfers and tournaments, I recognised the brand as soon as I saw it from watching on TV. No Limits Sports Limited (ffs) did not have any clear operations, other than stuff Alonso seemed to make up as he went along.
The guy doesn’t appear a billionaire by any stretch of the imagination, but that doesn’t mean he can’t run the club. It’s quite possible he’s a front man for some bigger money men behind the scenes, who could provide the funding to him. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if that $76 million to slync.io came from one Micheal Dell, who I think it’s already been mentioned would be willing to provide further loans like I believe he’s doing at Burnley.
Its likely there’s a second party which is yet to be revealed, which is who Nixon was referring to. I suspect that will be the big money man behind the Appleby/Rush/Moxey deal, who will blow anyone else out the water if the bid comes in. Suggestions of David Tepper make a lot of sense, what with his links to Glick and therefore Appleby.

As we're all aware, this season marks the 50th anniversary of our first League title. Had an idea for a while to mark it by doing a walk through the season as it happened 50 years ago (rather than just next May) - sort of a variation on the 'Derby on this day thread'
Whilst its stating the obvious to suggest a first title changed a club, this season in particular acted as a benchmark for Derby. It was the first season we had the Ram that we still see on our shirts today, it set the platform for our European Cup exploits the following season (and Brian Clough's obsession with landing the trophy after the Juventus semi-final) & our later title in 1974-75. It is also the breakthrough season which still affords Derby a lot of respect nationally from fans of a certain age & one often remembered for the nail-biting ending.
I wasn't around 50 years ago so my efforts will be confined to finding Youtube footage (if it exists), match reports, memorabilia & updated league tables as the season gets going. Where it probably needs fleshing out is with contributions from those who were there at the particular matches - what do you remember about particular games, what were the away fans like (good & lets face it, bad in a lot of instances) & any other memories/match rituals of the time
Anyroad, enough wittering from me. Exactly 50 years ago today we kicked off 1971-72 against Manchester Utd at the Baseball Ground. Youtube highlights below but we were actually 0-2 down in our opener against the Man Utd side of Law, Best & Charlton...

Agree with all the points you make but I’m impressed with the resilience we’ve discovered that just wasn’t there last season. I think we probably would have lost this game today with last season’s mentality.
Just need that little bit of luck that’ll turn a draw into a win to give the lads a shot in the arm and the management team just reward for their positivity this season.
