I watched the game back and had a different impression from Saturday.

Derby dominated the first 30 minutes of each half and created chances. No-one played particularly badly.
Two awful mistakes - which you'd like to think won't happen again this season, let alone two in one game. We should have had a pen and a free-kick on the edge of the box in the first half - Lord knows why they weren't given. (There was also that corner we should have had but that's splitting hairs...)
Subs came too late - Fozzie's good chance came on 67 minutes, Wigan scored from nowhere on 72', subs came on 79 minutes. Two or three subs at 60 minutes, straight after the equaliser, would have made all the difference, especially given how dangerous Kane Wilson looked.
It was also concerning that from 80 minutes onwards any build-up down the middle was abandoned and all they did was frantically knock it wide for the cross.
Cashin is being asked to do too much. Nelson looked pretty comfortable coming forward and played some decent attacking & cross-field passes. Cashin can't cross for s*** and gave the ball away too often.
I was pleased their heads didn't drop after conceding the way they did. It was a frustrating game and a disappointing result, but I'm still optimistic for the season. I don't think this is the crisis it's being made out to be.

obviously, a very disappointing result yesterday BUT:
I deliberately didn’t read this thread until Sunday morning because I knew it would be caustic, emotional  and mostly inaccurate. When I did read it, I found I was absolutely right. So having seen the game yesterday I decided to watch it again on Rams TV.
First Half - a good watch generally. After Wigan deliberately kept the ball for well over a minute with  some aimless passing they hit a long ball to Derby’s right which created half a chance. They were obviously targeting Derby’s right for quite a bit of the first half. Derby could and should have been 2 up after 7 minutes, Collins had far more time than he thought and should have done better and Bradley should have scored from a corner. Contrary to many comments, we moved the ball quite well through midfield. Wigan obviously saw Ward as a threat and reduced the amount he could cross the ball as much as possible. Cashin looked a bit casual at times. We could have been 4-0 up by the time of Bradley’s error. He was very static on his standing foot and just let the ball get too far away from him, so he couldn’t get any power into the pass. We lost a bit of composure after the goal and they had a further chance, but generally we bossed the half, which contains some good football.  Unfortunate to go in a goal down.
2nd Half - just as dominant and after Forsyth’s goal there looked only one winner. Ward was finding space to whip in his crosses which cause mayhem at times. Substitutes were ready but Derby were so dominant they were (probably rightly) delayed for a while. Ward see,ed an unlikely choice but the manager stated after that he was “blowing” a bit. The second defensive mistake, this time Wildsmith, cost us this match. Otherwise they didn’t look like scoring.
Apart from the couple of errors, which happen, Derby should really have won. My biggest gripes were our control of the football - the number of times we mis-controlled it, or let it bounce away. We should be better. My other gripe was that we seemed to panic in the last 10 mins and made poor decisions or poor crosses into the box.
There were lots of criticisms of players yesterday but in my opinion, apart from the 2 mistakes, no one had a stinker as many suggested. I thought Nelson was faultless , Collins hold up play, control was as good as I have seen from him.
I think we need to mention Wigan, who after their recent turmoils were magnificent in defence  and effort throughout. Credit where it is due. To my mind, although the result was disappointing, the performance was ok. We obviously need reinforcements particularly in attack and midfield (creativity).
some of the comments from posters were ridiculous, but to be expected on this Forum. I suggest some of you rewatch the game again on RamsTV, we were much better than many expressed. Biggest laugh, the person who said Nelson had a poor game.

As er my previous post, totally agree - I would urge everyone to re-look at the game on RamsTV and I am sure that some people will wish to review and retract their comments made shortly after the game.

Not exactly the same position. We will be free of the agreed business plan. We may be in league one if he doesn’t do well, we may be in the championship if he does. There might be more viable options available to us on free transfers next season and/or we might be in a position to spend more. We will also have Dajaune Brown 1 year further into his development and potentially ready to step up to the first team with a clear path open to him and less pressure on his young shoulders having been supported through his development this season, thanks in part to the improved depth of senior pros.
None of us can predict the future so can’t say definitively what will happen. This is a signing that adds squad depth to the forward line in the immediate, which I think is one of the only things we as fans unanimously agree was needed. There is indeed an element of short-termism in this signing, but for the moment that’s the reality of where the club seems to be. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lowest level he will have played at, he is more than capable of getting over double figures this season.
I think fans dont rate him because of the price we paid for him originally but he isnt that bad, to play his whole career in the top 2 leagues in England & Scotland isnt to be dismissed so easily.
He showed against top end Champ (Prem) defenders in the Sheff Utd friendly that he can cause problems so he will cause League 1 defenders problems for sure.

The unbeaten run until the end of the season starts here, boys & girls!
With one of the smallest squad in football league history, it’s difficult to see too much rotation but would imagine the players in need of minutes all get a good run out and possibly even 90 minutes.
Team: Vickers, Nelson, Bradley, Cashin, Wilson, Robinson, Thompson, Hourihane, Elder, Waghorn, Washington.
If Vickers does well then stands to reason that Wildsmith will be on the outside looking in for a while after yesterday. Elder is desperate for the minutes and the two strikers both have a chance to stake a claim to start against Burton.

Over reactions exactly what I was expecting when coming on here, along with Collins being targetted as usual.
For the majority of the game we were the better team but we gifted them 2 soft goals. They hardly got in our half in 2nd half, it was all us.
Collins was full of effort as always, ended up running out wide due to lack of support up front which hopefully he will get when Washington is fit. He had 1 chance and forced a save from the keeper.
For me Smith was our best player, particularly 1st half, only midfielder who was trying to play forward. Bird put alot of work in but no great creativity in a position that requires it.
Biggest disappointments for me were Wildsmith, NML & Hourihane. Why Hourihane went back to Bradley for their 1st I dont know, got the ball in the middle of the pitch with loads of space in front of him & he passes back to Bradley.
Some of Wards deliveries were brilliant, Wilson looked a bright spark but will frustrate fans. Our main issue today was the bench, no attakcing options other than Washington.
Ref gave them everything 1st half, how we didnt get a penalty on Bradley I dont know, the lino was looking right at it. The booking for Smith was a joke too.
Get Sibley & Barkhuizen back plus 2 or 3 more attacking players in & we will be right up there come the end of the season.

I didn’t think it was as bad as some are making out.  Thought we did OK first half up until their goal.  We’d created chances, put some good balls in the box and their keeper made a couple of good saves.  I didn’t think we got the ball to Ward quick enough in the 1st half and when we did it was a bit behind him or he had to set it for a cross.  We put that right in the 2nd half.
Up until their goal in the 2nd half they were barely out of their own half.  Cracking finish by Foz and I thought we’d go on and won’t then but their 2nd seem to knock the stuffing out of us a bit.
We lost due to a couple of errors, it happens.  Nothings won or lost in August, particularly on day 1.  Just cos we lost doesn’t mean we’re doomed, equally we could have battered them and it wouldn’t mean we’d win the league.  Let’s have a bit of balance.

Of course it's not the future. Unfortunately for our future to get any brighter we need out of this league. So we need a short term fix. We don't have money to spend so there isn't a great deal out there.
We don't need him to hit 25 goals mate.
We need him to chip in. If all 3 strikers can get 10-15 goals each then that's fine.
    We're in League One.
Other ones mentioned like Afobe and Assombalonga are similar in the respect that their careers have taken a bit of a nosedive. But all three would potentially be capable of 10-15 goals in League one imo.

I would be concerned if we brought in Rhodes on a massive salary and a long contract. If he fits in with the wage restructure of the rest of the sqaud on a 12 or 24 month contract then I think he could be a welcome addition bolstering our front line.
