That’s fine, no arguments against that opinion as I have no proof to either support or argue against that.
I think however it would be naive not to consider the impact of covid as well, even recently during the Omicron wave stadiums were either closed or limited to capacity in Wales and Scotland, there was talk of games behind closed doors again.
Outside the Premier League ticket sales account for a large percentage of a clubs revenue, without that clubs are earning next to nothing.
Even today with the squad we have needs an owner to inject £1m a month to keep the lights on.
Hypothetical situation if Mel walked away, settled the HMRC bill, creditors, took on the Boro and Wycombe claims, gave the stadium with the club all for a pound, clean slate.
The new owner(s) have to pump in £12m a year just to survive with this depleted squad and that increases drastically if games are played behind closed doors which not one of us can predict. Getting double jabbed was meant to be the end of it, will another wave hit in the winter?

So for all this EFL talk of the Middlesbrough and Wycombe claims not being the problem... turns out the Middlesbrough and Wycombe claims are the problem.

    Agreed.
Not entirely sure how Gibson/Couhig can claim to know what the hold up is at our end, they will not be party to the discussions Quantuma have had with HMRC and Mel.
Now we have a bidder squarely placing the blame onto the claims from Boro and Wycombe, it’s difficult to see how the EFL can also continue to hide behind other issues the club must deal with.
It’s been blatantly obvious for weeks now, regardless of what those 3 are trying to push out there in the media.

Anyone who thinks that the Parasite claims are not the MAIN obstacle are naive in the extreme. Of course there are other complexities but nothin compares to this as the potential jeopardy is so large. The EFL and the parasites are completely disingenuous about the issue and they know it.

We need to up the pressure on Gibson again, I know the admins aren't perfect but they are simply doing their jobs (satisfying the creditors, as opposed to the club). It's abundantly clear the claims are the issue, and as fans we need to force another reaction from the EFL like we did earlier last month.

Feeling rather overwhelmed today as I am sure we all are..
Yesterday wasn't about the last minute equaliser, as much as it should have been, it was about the City coming together.
A huge thank you to Ryan (chief organiser) and all the Marshalls that assisted on the day. A big thank you as well to Albatross Taxis who offered everyone 20% off for the march and also supplied me with a minibus for the day to get the flags from Pride Park to the march. Nice to see local businesses come together (they are owed money by the club as well) So many came together to make it a success.
We will never know the true number but when we arrived into town at 0945 I got a huge sense that this was going to be massive, just so many dotted about. As many have said Derby police saying just under 10k, that is nothing short of amazing. The view as I looked back over the railway bridge was something else and the drone that took the video, it was neverending.
Many highlights for me, the mayor lowering his hat to start the bounce and leading the march up the Morledge. Pauline Latham starting the bounce and all the local councillors and MP's marching, together.
When the march arrived at Pride Park the number of photographers was something else, not fans, proper photographers, it was flash flash flash..
I will never forget this for the rest of my life.
Be proud of our city and football club.

All the official statements say how complex the issues are and that everyone is working really hard to resolve them.
    Enough of that.
Whoever is to blame for the impasse, whether it's individuals or a combination, I hope that from the meeting with the MPs and/or the latter ones with the supporters groups, someone comes out and states publicly what the blocking issues are and why they're not yet resolved.
Someone or something has to give or - as Margaret Beckett put it so eloquently the other day - those involved will not be forgiven or forgotten.
The supporters have done all they can to get the story out, I think there is now general support across the country. Ignore the vocal few; the majority are concerned about the future of the game. Now is the time to thrash a deal out. Not hide behind the same blah, blah, blah.
Name and shame the folks preventing our club from being saved.

Maguire didn’t understand what we were doing. He said we were depreciating player values to non zero figures at the end of the contracts. We weren’t .

Even if you accept that Maguire intervention is relevant He flagged the issue up in 2018 yet the Efl didn’t bring a charge until January 2020. So Efl are on the hook whichever way you look at it.
the amortisation change was flagged in the 2016 accounts so why want it challenged then?

There’s even more evidence than that GOC but basically EFL being disingenuous in saying they didn’t approve the accounts. Sure there may not be a formal sign off like there is with the auditor.

But they had plenty of opportunities to say they didn’t like what we were doing but they didn’t.

What changed things was Parry coming in , a change of FD too and Parry getting bullied by Gibson .

I agree. For all grief they’ve been getting, I think Quantuma have been pretty good. I think it took them a while to realise/admit that they weren’t on a level playing field, and that the griping Morris had about the EFL’s treatment of Derby had some merit. But since last Friday they’ve played a blinder. Said just enough about the EFL’s stance being possibly “against statute” to set the cat among the pigeons and it has escalated beautifully. Watching all other parties talk too much mainly because their bruised egos didn’t like being seen as the bad guys was great.

This has been obvious. Parry on Sky Sports (sponsored by the EFL). Times article on Friday fed by EFL saying Gibson is scapegoat!!. Social media doing the trick though and Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph starting to pick up on it too. Silence from the Guardian, and others not good enough.

    Spot on.
At least we seem to have a bidder who has made an offer knowing about the Boro / Wycombe claims and is prepared to take them on and hopefully contest them?  This is great news.
Otherwise despite what Steve, Mr Gibson, Stephen says I am sure he would prefer Derby to be liquidated if only to make Morris have to pay MSD from sale of PP or under his guarantee. ie Personal Vendetta - he wins.

I think if this happens there will be a lot of blowback that could have quite massive consequences for the game and its governance.
You have a Govt looking around for ways to boost its flagging popularity and the EFL could be a handy pinata.
Parry on R5 said last night the EFL weren't happy with the social media 'noise.'

If liquidation happens - stand by your beds on that score.

If this ends up in a liquidation yes - MSD are at the front of the creditors queue for all income generated from asset sales (although Quantuma fees will need to be paid first). I think it unlikely in a liquidation that any other creditors will get anything. The leases would be come pretty valueless, and the prices offered for our footballing assets would drop away. MSD would be covered though, because if there is any shortfall they go for recovery from Morris and Gellaw under his guarantee and the fixed charge on the stadium.
However, we are all hoping that rather than liquidation, we come out under a CVA or restructuring arrangement, and the Club carries on trading, etc. A CVA is a voluntary arrangement between all the creditors that they will accept a certain pence per pound settlement, and will write off/have no future claim on the remainder debts subject to terms and conditions within the CVA being met and achieved. MSD as a secured creditor would be effectively agreeing to sharing some of the monies that are paid by a new owner for the club, so that other creditors get some return so a CVA (or non CVA restructuring) can be agreed. They will only want to do that if they are happy with the arrangements after the Club is purchased - e.g. they can foresee their loan being serviced, and repaid over an agreed term, and they always retain ample security in place (including the stadium owned by Morris (Gellaw)).
Ideally I would think MSD would want out; they must be sick to the back teeth being in bed with Morris and DCFC, even at high interest rate return. So I think they would prefer an Ashley type offer of £30m to buy the Club, and £20m to buy the stadium from Morris (Gellaw), and then with Morris (Gellaw) repaying the MSD loan from those proceeds. The £30m Ashley would be paying for the Club only could then exclude any need to account for MSD, and could under say a CVA give a greater pence in the pound return to the other creditors. Note to continue operating as a football club and retaining our golden share, football creditors would have to get 100% repayment. To make sure we don’t get further point deductions from the EFL all other creditors would need to have a minimum return of 25%. The sticking point apparently for Ashley doing this kind of deal though is the EFLs current insistence that Boro and Wycombe’s spurious claims are contingent football creditor debts.
That is quite a simplistic overview, there is much more nuance in the detail.  I have decided not to go into any detail in this note regarding what apparently is Quantuma’s preferred exit route - a restructuring using class cram legislation - because a) I am going to open a beer now and watch the match and b) I think I have answered what you wanted to know. Up the Rams.

Sorry buddy, you are a long way away from being correct.
MSD are a creditor of the club - DCFC borrowed the money not Mel or his Gellaw Companies. So it is DCFC’s problem. The way that the Stadium security has been set up is that if DCFC can’t pay all of the debt, anything left unpaid after Administration (or Liquidation if the worst came to the worst) is only then the responsibility of Mel/Gellaw to repay.
So if the Binnies are only wanting to buy the Club, and not the stadium, and they are only paying £28m, well them MSD are not going to be fully repaid from the work currently being undertaken by Quantuma. The only real security of any worth that MSD have over the football club assets is the fixed charges they have on the leases of the stadium and training ground, but I can’t imagine either of those are worth a great deal in value.
I can’t be bothered to do the math tonight regarding how £28m might be cut and sliced, but if we want the Club to continue to play football we know the monies need to repay football creditors 100%, and Quantuma’s fees need to be paid too.  So about £12m has gone already. £16m then has to keep MSD happy (in for about £23m probably at this time), and also HMRC (£27m) and unsecured creditors (say £28m). Interesting how that might be sliced, especially as anything less than 25% to each gives the EFL the opportunity to deduct further points from us.
Doesn't look attractive to me, and as I said above it won’t look attractive to MSD or Morris. And I am pretty certain it won’t look attractive to Quantuma either, and I can’t see it being a preferred bid unless it ends up as the only bid. Quantuma and MSD, and not so important myself, would want to see the preferred bidder doing a deal for the stadium simultaneously. It’s cleaner for all concerned, and gets rid of Morris out of the equation, and gives the Club owner total control over the stadium.
The only real merit of the bid is that a) it is a bid to be considered, and b) Binnie appears happy to take on Boro & Wycombe down the track. Other than that I am struggling, but let’s be honest beggars can’t be choosers in the chair we currently sit.
