Perky1106
I've heard they want Stuart Pearce to do it with him still doing the U21 job. In my opinion though, I've never understood the need for a director of football. Surely director of football should be the manager's job since it's him who directs what football is on the played on the pitch.

I have a lot of time for him as a man and a motivator but think we need a retired manager; someone who has proven success at building a club as well as a team. The director of football directs operations rather than the team. He/ she would provide important support to the manager over player and transfer negotiations, youth development etc. I'd love to see Walter Smith do it in his retirement. ramesses
Apparently we are recuiting a director of football. Not quite sure what they actually do, but I would have thought that player scouting and signing and contractual negotiations would be a big part of it. In which case this is a bit odd to make the appointment AFTER we have already signed so many players. Does this undermine the manager, especially after they have postponed new contract talks. Looks to me like Glick is taking a wait and see how well we do approach, with someone in place to recruit a new manager and find players if he decides that we need a change. I think you’re right John. And until the new director of football shows up Nige has had to promise Tom he’ll read WilkoRam’s weekly blog and follow Bris Vegas on twitter. sage
We need someone an ex-manager around ten years older than Nigel, who has the experience but still has contacts in the game.

RotherhamRam
Heyup everyone the players we have brought are desperately needed to build up the squad and improve it. If we had waited for the football director we would have missed out on Ward, Shackell and Fielding for def. Bryson we may have got as he really wanted to come here since his trial. Maguire if he comes would not be here, Robinson I know we not sure would still be waiting and Tyson (and get over the glaf waving he will have an important role this year in the side especially when he scores v Forest and kisses the badge) would be else where. The summer transfer window is always the easiest to get players look at our record we always get people in on the Summer as contracts expire and clubs at this stage rebuild. Now the January window is the hardest, players prices go up as the owning club knows that they can get top dollar for their players as clubs wants them to either keep them up or push for promotion. Hopefully the latter. The director is being brought in with 5 months to prepare for January window with a view of looking for players in key positions be it somone not performing or injuries and negotiate these deals and outgoings as well. We have a shocking record in this window and this could be key. Hate to talk about scum broccolis but they have a director and purchasing committee which acquired up until this year an 'ok' squad this was not done by Davies as we know he can not buy that many decent players but by the bacckroom people. The world of football has changed we need to change or left behind. Enough of you have moaned about Clough and Glick transfer dealings so now they want to addd support there you moan again. Anag Ram
Given our propensity for signing smaller players, perhaps this is the answer? http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/data:image/jpg;base64,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
