I’d expect them to be released later this afternoon. In any case, we’ve been wearing actual shirt numbers rather than 1-11 throughout pre season, so we know what they all are anyway! Going back 5 years, we also announced then on 2nd August, and the 2019/20 season also started on the 5th. Fozzy has had the 3 shirt for many years & will probably keep it until he leaves, its very rare a new player comes in & takes a current players squad number. An example being both Beckham & Cristiano Ronaldo when they went to Madrid, neither got their usual number 7. Doesnt mean anything in terms of pecking order imo. Brown has a squad number but is not in the first team squad, he's in the U21 squad. He's there for no other reason than his age. There's a maximum to the number of players in the senior squad, 25 in the SBC, I believe. IIRC, that number does not include keepers or players in age group squads. That makes the likes of Brown and Robinson eligible to play for the first team without taking up one of the 25 available spots.
