Good point, they'll be pleased to be on the same side as Isis.

I imagine their own Government is more of a concern to them right now, wouldn't you?

Not really sure what your point is.

My original point is this mess is getting messier by the day, where we now have murderous terror groups attacking Iran, that put us sort of on the same side. I'm not convinced that the persecuted Iranian female population would be better off if IS took control of Iran.

My point was that your original post was facile - a terrorist attack by an IS-affiliated group against Iran doesn't make the UK an ally of theirs. Nor is there the remotest possibility that IS will take over Iran.

MY original post was designed to highlight Iran's baffling decision to launch an attack on a state with which they've had relatively good relations merely because they thought they could safely hit back at a terrorist group while the world is preoccupied by the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. Pakistan isn't supporting Israel so this was clearly not an "act in support of Gaza" and (I suspect unthinkingly) will further isolate Iran i.e it's completely illogical.

This exchange further illustrates what an utter waste of time this thread is other than a soapbox for the polemicists and why I largely keep away.

It didn't take Pakistan to long for retribution now did it, Would you want to fcuk with a nuclear power, Lavrov now threatening the USA and UK with WW3 and nuclear weapons, China concerned with North Korea supplying Russia with munitions.

World goods are now travelling around the Cape so their cargo ships will not be attacked by Iran backed Houthis, An extra 10 days journey with an estimated cost of £1million each cargo ship, Eventually I guess this cost will be passed on to a customer somewhere down the line.

Are we heading for a new world order? or just a load of Sabre rattling, Wars come at a price and it's the innocents that pay.

My...erm...pole is that I don't want the tinderbox of the middle east to escalate into a regional/worldwide conflict.

Israels over the top actions have contributed to this.

Yes and just a handful of people are responsible. Put them on an island somewhere for them to argue and fall out amongst themselves. Let the rest of us live in peace.

Put Netanyahu on an island all by himself and 90% of the problem will eventually go away.

Back on the old soapbox as "British socialist hailing Hamas" and resident antagonist in a pointless thread split from the Ukraine thread, I thought I'd post this.

"The quiet bit out loud" they call it. The right wing extremists we've been covering and apologising for.

The regional conflict we seem to be heading towards would muddy the waters and I'm absolutely sure nobody wants that. Definitely not. No way.

Saying no to a friend, yet continue to receive full support from that friend, means that a yes was never anticipated or wanted.  It's all a show, the USA and Israel are one and their European lapdogs remain beyond contempt.

A tit for tat favor, more like it.  Washington won't be pleased.

Have you seen what Iran have done?

They forced IDF forces to blow up a university in Gaza that the IDF themselves have been using as a base for months.

Is Iran forcing us to bomb Yemen?

Britain bombing Yemen is no big deal, we've been doing it since 1928. Someone on twitter posted a list of British Prime Ministers who have bombed Yemen.

Stanley Baldwin

Ramsay MacDonald

Clement Atlee

Winston Churchill

Anthony Eden

Harold Macmillan

Alec Douglas-Home

Harold Wilson

David Cameron

Theresa May

Boris Johnson

Rishi Sunak

You'd think we would have beaten them by now. Its been 94 years.

everything gets blamed on Iran destabilising the region while America carries out the odd invasion and provides various factions with arms.

Saudi Arabia is an excellent customer for American arms industry

Yes, but let's not forget that it's not just Palestinian deaths

The Israeli army says 24 of its soldiers were killed in Gaza on Monday - the deadliest day for its forces since their ground operation began.

The response seems to be to imply ITV are spreading Hamas propaganda. At least this journalist wasn't accidently killed with the hundred odd others.

Cameron will have to check with his lawyers if this is a war crime. In the mean time can all polemicists wait for the facts before jumping on their soapbox.

This was seen and filmed as it happened by the BBC, so it would seem they too are part of a wider conspiracy to portray the IDF as murderers of innocent civilians.

Abhorrent.

From the BBC:

The UN's top court rules that Israel must take all measures to prevent genocidal acts in Gaza, but stops short of ordering an immediate halt to operations

Judges at the International Court of Justice delivered an interim ruling in South Africa's genocide case against Israel

Riyad al-Maliki, the Palestinian foreign minister, says the judges ruled "in favour of humanity and international law"
