Just out of interest, proved everyone wrong in what way exactly?

It’s well known in the US which I have posted previously that hedge funds have lost millions betting against Musk failing with Tesla.
One hedge fund has even shut down due to losses betting against Musk.

Sorry I haven't been following the topic that closely, which is why I was interested in the context.

The context is needed as I could easily throw out there the interview with the WSJ 12 years ago which claimed in 10 years he would put a man on Mars, I'm sure some doubted him on that at the time which they were proven correct.

You will probably call that pettiness, yet I'll be honest, prior to his Twitter takeover I knew very little about the bloke, it's only since the Twitter takeover and the awful awful rebrand to X, ruined the verification system even more, messed up the algorithm to push his own views and businesses have I been paying attention. The more I see, the more of an oddball he becomes.

You obviously wouldn't agree, respect your opinion, I just wish he would sell up and bugger off back to his cars and rockets and X was reverted back to it's former glory as I'm social media homeless now and it's super frustrating.

TBH I never liked Twitter before Musk took it over and still don’t like it as a social media platform.
The only difference is now it’s a level playing field for everyone, which it should have been in the first place.

I never knew much about Musk until he took over Twitter perhaps that why he took it over.

Agreed Musk is definitely an odd ball and comes out with ridiculous comments.

Anyway that’s me done for a while on this subject you will glad to know. 😀

I think 99% is a huge exaggeration, but if you mean worthy of contempt, then absolutely, yes, but what does that materially change? Does it make Tucker less contemptible because there's other people just as shallow and grasping? I'm not really seeing your point here tbh.

Not really making a point just an observation that it feels like we are swamped with people like this in positions of power and trust , don’t really know enough about tucker to have formed an opinion but my guess is your probably right 🤷🏻‍♂️,

maybe 99% is exaggerated but it certainly feels about right ,maybe I’m just worn down by our pretence at democracy and moral high ground , I look around the globe at so called wars with kids and innocent being killed and living in misery whilst the people at the top rattle sabres and pick sides , we either fall into the same trap or get dragged along ,

my hope was that maybe the young would come along and change things but it looks like they are more polarised, intransigent and less willing to try to find middle ground than the generation since the last world war , maybe it’s the human condition

But that’s such a tiny, tiny element of the platform. Horrific, yes, but hardly a justification to shut the whole thing down.

Labradors have killed people but we don’t ban them.

You do realise that’s just one challenge.

We have had kids eating washing tablets.

We have had kids taking their own lives, suicide.

Away from all that what’s left? A bunch of attention seekers that call themselves “content creators”, doing videos with dubbed over voices, or dances to the latest song.

Absolutely nothing positive to be had from that platform, even as a toilet time scroller, can’t believe anyone over the age of 10 is defending it.

So what, appears to be the default response to anything Elon does and can largely get away with saying and doing anything by his following.

The Teflon Don.

I appreciate the effort to unravel the thoughts of Elon, however, you could be either spot on or a million miles off depending on the day of the week.

Also it delves deep inside a subject which will take this topic down a path which isn’t really suitable for this forum.

Perhaps we could have a thread where people post appalling things that Musk has said, then Carl explains to us why Musk said it and why it's a perfectly reasonable point of view.

He's made a valiant effort on explaining what Musk meant by "the deep state making kids LGBTQ and the dems starting a civil war". A possible criticism is that he only really focused on the T part in the statement Musk agreed with. Did Musk only really mean T too, or does he really think kids who might fancy boys and girls are also being controlled by the shadowy elites? Only 2 men know the answer to this.

The "civil" war part is also interesting language in the context of the siege in DC a few years back. When people actually died. Best to ignore that crass part of the statement too, so what if Musk says the odd thing. It's not like anyone would mis-understand his intelligent reasoning, we all know that no one has ever been insprired by hateful rhetoric to carry out barbaric acts. Gods like Musk bear no responsibility for their words of wisdom, for they are above us.

Anyhow, that interview is now up if anyone is actually interested in it. I'll pass and wait to read all your opinions on it instead.

I know this will be full of lies as it's legacy media, but this is the Guardian's take. Other legacy media opinions are available, but unfortunately behind paywalls.

Warning: fans of free speech might be alarmed by some of the things Russia are doing in that department.

In the US alone, Pokemon Go supposedly caused 256 deaths and over 150,000 traffic accidents, should that have been banned?

Yes. Daft game that is. Kids you can understand. Adults though chasing these virtual gremlin things was and still is super weird.

Banning it would be the best thing to do. Think we should name and shame as well, make them wear hats that say former Pokémon Go player so we know who not to socialise with.

one way of looking at that is "the left-leaning liberal media establishment" - which has done a remarkable job of taking over the entirety of the education system

This is an absolutely baffling thing to say. The education system in the UK is poor, I agree, but to say it's the "left leaning liberal media establishment" that is the cause it stupid.

Where can I find one of these hats?

Oh dear, you’re not? 🤦‍♂️

Anyhow, it wasn’t a serious question was it?

I mean, you do see the difference of one person occupied by their phone, crossing a road without looking and challenging kids to take themselves on the edge of blacking out, how to self harm and commit suicide?

Kinda is a huge difference.

Forgetting all that, explain to me the positives of TikTok, what’s the content out there that is worth watching?

Completely not ashamed to say I was, I loved Pokemon as a kid so when Go came out when I had loads of time off between Secondary School and College, it was the perfect time😅

There's been Youtube trends that have caused harm to children, I bet there's hundreds of videos on there on how to do loads of illegal stuff, but that's been going nearly 20 years. I'm not sure it's directly the fault of TikTok itself.

This same shadowy group also created the NHS and the Welfare State. Women voting and equal rights too. That far left Stalinist David Cameron even introduced gay marriage. Something must be done!

Strange story today, Kemi Badenoch moaning she is getting more death threats now after Nadine Dorris' perfectly balanced expose of the deep state conspiracy that resulted in a change of leadership.

Hasn't she heard of freedom of speech? If a few deranged people get riled up for hearing THE TRUTH, that is hardly the fault of the truth teller, is it?

Can't she just stick to reducing complex issues to divisive rhetoric. Fortunately, there are literally no recent examples of other deranged people being inspired by these sort of comments, just lone wolves who clearly would have committed terrible acts of violence anyway.

It often turns out that any actual physical attacks on high profile indivduals ars usually due to gay lovers taking revenge. Thankfully Musk is allowed to tell us these things on a platform he owns, without censure. It's called free speech.

The Tucker Carlson Putin interview has nearly 100 million views at the moment. That was a very important interview, but the legacy media are playing it down. One of the reasons for this is that the legacy media knew their role as the intermediary between news and the public is finished. We can see what’s happening directly via social media like X, Rumble, Telegram and to a lesser extent via Youtube. The media liars are yesterday’s people.

Have you watched it? It sounded very dull in the Guardian article I read, but obviously they are legacy media liars so would say that.
