Arsene Titman
My nephew is getting married and his English stag do centres around the Charlton game on October 14th. There could be up to a dozen of us and what we won’t be is raucous or rowdy. I’m too old to know about Derby city centre watering holes these days and all the other participants are from elsewhere in the country. I would be grateful for recommendations on civilised establishments serving a good range of lagers and craft beers. Eating destination not decided yet but could be the Okra on Friargate. One I find underrated is the Orange Tree. Usually a good selection in there. There’ll be plenty of others recommended by others to go to on your way there too. Chellaston Ram
Could do Brewery Tap and Exeter Arms. Or Standing order, Dolphin & Silk Mill all within a hundred yards of each other. Arsene Titman and Reggie Greenwood 1

I'd also add The Bell on Sadlergate to this list but don't know what Jorrocks is like now. Shove on Seymours by St Werburghs. That's a route. Not quite the legendary mile which is gone but ok. WystonRam
A good route back, if you like ales, might be The Smithfield, Exeter, Tap, Peacock. As for a curry, Nalaas has extremely good reviews.

Not everyone drinks tramp juice. ...and they won't get them at the Brunswick, who's real ale selection is geared toward the more 'traditional' end of the market, shall we say. (ie the ones that those customers who say things like "I don't want one with citrus in" or "5.2? That's a bit too strong for me." tend to veer toward) It does depend just what the OP is referring to as craft though, there's not really anywhere other than suds & soda that specialises in keg & can stuff. Think the best bets to fit the brief are... The Alex (real ales geared more toward the modern side), The Smithfield (similar), Brewery Tap (decent enough mix and alright bottle selection), and The Furnace, before moving onto the Flowerpit. Most of the other pubs mentioned are a bit nothingy in selection, and I don't tend to go into them unless I'm playing darts there or meeting people. Only issue is I'm not really sure what 'a range of lagers' constitutes, or what they're really looking for in this regard, they've all just got your standard sort of stuff (but if they insist on Madri they'll be SOL) I can't really think of anywhere in the actual centre, Edited July 15, 2023 by Kokosnuss I know nothing
