Yani P
Seems to me that we regularly fail to win if we take the lead so thought it might be interesting to see if the stats actually back it up. So ive only done last season and this one so far, its just a simple colour coding - green for ahead, amber for level, red for behind. If its only one colour it just means the outcome didnt change during the match. No sign of a red to green and only Wycombe did we come back from being pegged back to winning. Tyler Durden
Last season the issue was when we went behind we never then subsequently won the game and on only 3 occasions got anything from the game. We haven't been behind in a game yet this season so hard to ascertain if that appalling character trend still persists.
brady1993
I think it's hard to directly compare last season to this. Last season we'd go through multiple game streaks of not creating a chance of note, this season we are creating just not taking them. Whether this is going to persist isn't easy to say. Our ability to create chances does seem to be improving over time and with you'd expect more goals. We've got players to come back that will help give us sorely needed depth in attack and midfield. And finally as an attacking unit the players are still building that understanding between each other.
sage
A lot of this is down to the small squad and weak bench. We have to play players who aren't fully fit and make substitutions too late or not at all. Gone
It’s simple isn’t it, we’ve haven’t addressed (through our fault or not) our goal scoring options for the past at least 6 transfer windows. Close thread
IlsonDerby
Gone ahead in 4 league games out of 5 this season mind which was unheard of last year when we couldn’t hit a barn door with our nob in the lock. Progress. We’ll only start holding on a little more convincingly when we have some stronger options from the bench I think. Our starting 11 looked dead on their feet from about 70 onwards today. Too early to claim this is a pattern of behaviour. But the combination of youngsters (poor game management through lack of experience) and older players (lacking stamina for 90 mins) is potentially a worry. Shaftesbury st
Not sure we can compare this season to anything like recent times with the squad we haven’t got, or more like haven’t got. Feel like we’ve played well so far but run out of steam second half, no options from the bench and some naivety about our play at times. This season we won’t kill teams off and will always give away large chunks of games
BramcoteRam84
Too early to pass judgment on this. Still working on stuff, we can be more fluid create more chances but takes time to embed what we’re trying to do. Good we’re creating chances! We’ll take them soon enough! Albert
Realistically, if the referee were competent yesterday that would have been a convincing win. Bar a crazy 11 minutes of injury time against Peterborough, there's not a lot else to talk about on this.
Gone
We don’t score enough goals, we haven’t for a while. To win games you need to score goals, we havent got that capability in our team. Joz, Sibley and Morrison, won’t get into double figures and they are our attacking players. Lawrence maybe will but he needs to be consistent, this is something we haven’t seen in his time here. Our strikers Baldock and Stretton will be lucky to get 10+ this season. Our defenders don’t score goals either. We don’t have players who will get 2 or more goals regularly in games. We need a goal scorer or two, this isn’t new we’ve needed this for such a long time and haven’t addressed it. Wether that be poor management, poor scouting or the inability to operate in the transfer market due to restrictions. We can bang on all day about our style of play and or fatigue, thin squad etc. We can create as much as you like but without a ruthless goal scorer in our ranks we’re pissing in the wind.
