Yani P Posted August 20, 2021 Share Posted August 20, 2021 Read lots recently where people have been talking about picking up that rare beast the 20 league goals a season striker. It's interesting at how rare it actually is for us. Looking at every season since we were relegated from the Premier League we have only had 2. Vydra and Martin. Last season we didn't have a player in double figures. And in all 13 seasons we only had multiple double digit scorers 6 times. We had 4 seasons where our 2nd placed scorer only had 5 goals. So if we can find one on a free we will have done fantastically well. Baldock for Bristol City 2013-24. Lost out on Lee Gregory, twice in his career scored more than 20 in a season. Yani P Posted August 20, 2021 Author Share Posted August 20, 2021 (edited) Agree but it shows an issue where we have had seasons where 2nd highest is 5 lol 19-20 top was only 12 but we had 3 in double figures 16-17 we had 2 15-16 we had 2 14-15 we had 3 13-14 we had 2 11-12 we had 2 We have had 2 seasons where our 3rd top scorer managed 3 ? Yani P Posted August 27, 2021 Author Share Posted August 27, 2021 I think the stats above prove just how hard it is to find that 20 a season player (league specific), we have done well when we have had 3 into double figures but oftern over the years we have put a heavy load onto 2 or 3 players at best. Asanovic70 Posted August 28, 2021 Share Posted August 28, 2021 (edited) Bryson managed 16 goals in '13-'14, he actually managed fewer (13) in the next five seasons combined, of course injuries began to affect him (appearances) and he was loaned to Cardiff. It shows that our midfielders don't contribute as much, we also need goals spread around the team. Mount (8) & Hendrick (7) the highest. I think OG could weigh in with a few more.
