What about this season under Cocu? Don’t get me wrong, I love Marriott. But Martin is Derby’s best player this century and more suited to Cocu’s non-dynamic and uninspired tactics. Maybe you’re right that he’s the right man for the slow and predictable style of play, but I’m hoping we move away from that. FWIW I don’t think Martin is a bad player, he’s good at what he does. It’s just not for me week in week out over a full season. Some seem to have already written Marriott off which I find strange, guess we’ll have to see if they’re right. The little we saw of Marriott today, there was one burst of speed on a run, so his pace is still good - we may yet see Marriott and Martin.
