I will have a little research.

ilkleyram
Well I now know I'm posh - the only people whose names I knew in that celebrity footie match at PP were the ex Derby players. I had no idea who any of the others were nor why they were celebs.

Nobody quite knows where the word came from but, despite claims that POSH was printed on the ticket, no evidence has been confirmed. https://www.merriam-webster.com/help/faq-posh As for definition of posh it's simple - if you get out of the bath to have a pisch then you're posh..... One person who might have an idea about the origin of the word posh is celebrity lexicographer Susie Dent. Here's a clip of @susie_dent from 1992 - her first appearance on countdown. 28 years of age and nervous about being on telly. You might want to skip to 3.40 mins. And here she is now, in her 50's looking every bit as resplendent as she did in her 20's. Maybe even more so. Just look at those legs... absolute perfection. So you know... What were we talking about? Words or summat?

What were we talking about? Words or summat? Good find. Now we know Susie has always been fit, while Carol merely went through a brief period of acceptability just before she got the boot. I do miss afternoon banks, but apparently supermarkets frown on such behaviour.
