But it was the start of something special. And he scored. Once he realised he was supposed to be a defender not a striker, we never looked back. TigerTedd
I know it wasn’t for Derby, but jonothan Woody ate for Real Madrid has to get an honourable mention as the best debut by anyone ever.

Stormed into the dressing room starkbollock naked, dragged Wassall out the stadium, told the players there was a new sheriff in town and turned 0-4 into 5-4 with a flick of his golden tuft. Incredible scenes. Artistic license and Rose tints always welcome of course .... This was "my" game. Turned me from occasional spectator to a fan. There was some clapathon for something or other and it coincided with our first goal .. It kept on rolling and pride park gave me the football ground shivers for the first time since I was a lad. If ever you want evidence that a crowd can lift players then that was it. 4-4 great stuff. Come to think of it we seem to score a lot against Ipswich in recent times. Is this an omen ? Might've been Ince's debut. The whole stadium was singing a song and while we were singing Hendrick scored to make it 4-1 I think. The sound was like nothing I've ever heard. A midfielder who came through the academy and scored two goals against QPR on debut (in a 3-3 draw). I think I remember Ramage's debut (I mean Craig rather than Alan) and thinking he looked really cultured, but my fellow popsiders were lambasting him throughout for passing with the outside of his foot ("what's that about?"). Maybe Rams fans have always moaned. We had an amazing youth team captain who burst onto the scene and looked absolutely brilliant, as if he might single-handedly restore the glory days that we'd not long lefft behind (at that point). Think his name was Tony Reid? Or was that someone else? But I can't deny Wanchope's was amazing! Correct @Carl Sagan Sir! Seem to recall he went off after 82 mins and went to hospital suffering from nervous exhaustion. Then seemed to disappear and not play again. Rams 2-0 in first 10 minutes, Ossie end madness and scraped a 3-3 draw in the end. Same old Derby - clutching defeat from the jaws of victory.
