Carl Sagan
Here's an Irish site report of their boy (Jason Knight) scoring both goals in the 2-0 win for the U18s over Man City. Tough FA Youth Cup draw against Man Utd on Wednesday, but we should fear no one. Let's make it an FA Cup double over them! https://www.balls.ie/football/jason-knight-goal-derby-man-city-379216
Carl Sagan
After tonight's 3rd round defeat of Man Utd in the FA Youth Cup, the U18s are away at Norwich in the next round. Thy have a good recent record in the competition, reaching the quarter finals and the fifth round in the last two years. We're Premier League North while Norwich are Premier League South. Ties to be played by 20th January.
Animal is a Ram
Just watched the u18s FAYC match on RamsTV. Max Bird looks like a mini George Thorne. Composure, good passing, good strength. Fuseine Rashid is a beast, him and Buchanan make a decent pairing. Really like the look of Jayden Bogle at right back too.
Rab a dab doo
Given patience and time these youngsters will develop and one day hopefully form the backbone of our future first team. The future is bright and black and white.

ViewsFromTheMiddle
The U18's played Baiteze last Saturday at Moor Farm. Don't know a great deal about them but the full game is here:

Carl Sagan
Fourth round of the FA Youth Cup sees us travel to Carrow Road on Friday 12th January with a 7pm kickoff. After knocking out Man Utd in the last round, it would be great to also beat these in what's a really difficult away tie, and progress to round five: https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2018/01/norwich-date-confirmed
Carl Sagan
If anyone's interested the U23s are currently on RamsTV live and free away at Sunderland. It's 0-0, quarter of an hour gone. Rams dominating but not made the breakthrough.
angieram
Makes you appreciate our set up with home games at St George's or Pride Park. This playing surface not great. Thomas looking brightest so far but Anya also putting a shift in.

Interesting to hear about Bent mentoring Zanzala, I know Mel mentioned some of the senior lads getting involved in mentoring. Good to see Bent involved in that as well as working with RamsTV, glad to see him involved in all aspects of the club, good role model for what we want from senior players

Hope he earns some first team football, even though it might not be for derby

That said, he always has a good attitude. Shackell and Bent also in the starting 11 for those not watchng. Thomas as ever playing well. He was just fouled badly and the the ref blew up instantly for the freekick despite the ball rolling through for Lewis Walker to have a one-on-one with the keeper. Grrr. Carl Sagan
As @Charlie Georgementions in the Sunderland match thread, it looks as though Vernam is about to go on loan to Grimsby. I had thought about setting up an "Totally Unsubstantiated Rumours Thread" in the transfer section the other day and would have started it by posting this. He does mention something in his pre-match interview about the possibility of going out on loan this season. There's a bit of a tension between the players gaining the valuable experience and leaving the under 23s a bit short.

I think it's important for the Academy for the U23s to stay in the top flight. Win today as we should have done and we'd have been safe, but now it's 2-0 to a relegation candidate and we're suddenly looking down rather than up and a weakened squad in the second half of the season could get into trouble. That said, when stars such as Callum Guy went out on loan last year the form picked up as the kids coming in stepped up.

Plus with the size of our senior squad, there will likely be some senior available to the U23s for the rest of the season.
