I love dogs, dogs are great, I've always wanted one, but I had to laugh at the post earlier sayng that dogs don't ask for much!

Essentially you're looking after a toddler for 15 years, because they're pretty much incapable of looking after themselves.

You've only got to: Feed them, bath them, groom them, let them in/out of the house to do their business, pick up their poo, train them how to behave around other dogs / people, ensure they're never left alone for than more 8-10 hours at a time, be entirely responsible for them getting exercise, watch as shag cushions/stuffed toys, intervene as they shag someone's leg (OK, so not toddler behaviour!), make sure they don't shred all of your post, make sure they don't eat your sofa.... and other things.

People who hate cats really seem to do so because, whilst dogs remind them of children, cats remind them of teenagers/adults.

I really wish that people who hate cats would realise that the cat means just as much to the owner as their dog means to them. Never teach your dog to hate cats.

Nope, the law does that for you

If you run over a dog in your car you are legally obliged to report it - which is something you don't have to do for a cat.

So... fair game if you ask me :p

In all seriousness, I took my dog to the Vets yesterday to have some teeth removed... £400.  Starting to think I'd had a cat now!

Everytime we get a new dog we get a cat with it and they always grow up together.

Always been the cat that was in charge and pulled the strings.

I've lost count of the number of times i've seen a cat beat up a german shepherd.

My cat cost £1500 at supervets for surgery, thankfully insured.

Our dog and cats get on great, the cats will sleep in his bed with him. I've never seen them swipe at him but then he knows they're above him in the pecking order.

My favourite is always the dog around 52 secs in this video

*dog walks upstairs*

*cat suddenly appears*

dog: "on second thought nevermind downstairs is fine!"

Usually dogs don't get let loose to crap all over other peoples gardens or terrorise other peoples pets.

So that makes it ok to set your dog on them? Not really does it?

They don't need to be trained to hate cats. They need to be trained to socialise with cats, but unless the owners themselves keep cats, I don't see why dog owners should waste their time doing this.
