Our guys can't just make stuff up.

But decided to make up Jeff Hendrick goal scoring 9 for us. But carry on though.

Jeff Hendrick has scored 22 goals for us?

If that was written it was probably a mistake. He scored nine goals in the 2014/15 campaign.

Definitely wasn't a mistake.

Considering he scored nine goals in the 2014/15 campaign, it's fairly obvious he worded it wrong or got the seasons mixed up. If he had put 13 goals, then you could argue he just picked a random number out the sky.

Not really sure what you're suggesting. The guy just decided to write nine goals without any research whatsoever?

If you really think these guys just make up stuff, why don't you become a football journalist? You'll get paid pretty well (Probably on like £35k plus per year) and it's the easiest job in the world. Just make up transfer rumours. You'll only need to write about 5 short articles a day which will take you 3 hours maximum.

Saying spending £1m+ on an U21 is a risk is obvious, but one we're now in a position we need to take. The U21s are now playing at the very highest level, against teams that include youth players that cost far more than £1m. Secondly, from what I've heard O'Dowda would immediately enter the "top tier" of our youths (these are the guys who can concievably get matchday squad time this season - Rawson, Lowe and to a lesser extent Elsnik, Zanzala, Guy).

We wouldn't be signing him if we didn't think he could get into the first team, because he HAS to get into the first team by next season unless we use up an overage slot in every youth game we play, which we won't.

If we sign him then, in my opinion, he will be involved in the match day squads more than occasionally but spend the majority of his time playing with the U21s (unless he steps up very quickly) this season.

If O'Dowda signs he should be looking to break through and make an impression immediately. I don't think it's a bad move though for us! Many people criticise the 'spend lots of money on proven Championship players', but then run a mile at the prospect of signing a player from a lower league. O'Neill appears to rate O'Dowda highly (given his age and potential), and as a result he got his first ROI cap. He has shown a lot of promise and talent with Oxford United this year too, as did Roofe.

I'd rather see us take a chance on O'Dowda for £1m than sign another Blackman for upwards of £2m!

Oxford fans becoming increasingly sure something's happening as they notice O'Dowda omission from kit photos and press stuff.
