I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
Kissed a girl by the factory wall
Derby County
Derby County

Heard a siren from the docks
Saw Butterfield set the night on fire
Smelled the spring on the smoky wind
Derby County
Derby County

I'm going to make me a good sharp axe
Shining steel tempered in the fire
Will chop you down like an old dead tree
Derby County
Derby County

I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
Kissed a girl by the factory wall
Derby County
Derby County

It's a weird old world, just watching Indie Classics at the BBC and The Fall just been on with Telephone Thing.....marvellous.

Will we see you and Mr Bragg at the Lemon Tree the morra, shouting for A 13 and Stevie Bruce's tears ? Have told the kids it's Frank Turner's dad playing.

Red card PrivateDerby pinching one of Inverurie's classics and trying to make it his own, you'll be calling Paul Clement, Super Paul Clement next!

More importantly Wheeeee're all goin' down the pub........c'mon, c'mon, c'mon

I was a miner

I was a docker

i was a railway man

Between the wars

I raised a family

In times of austerity

with sweat watching Derby

Between the wars

Derby.......Derby.....Derby......Derby.....

Just attaching the word Derby to a song does not make it a Derby song, Especially if it makes no sense at all or has nothing to do with football or the club.

A couple of oldies for you - both sung to the tune of 'Singing the blues'

I've never felt more like singing the blues

When Derby win, and forest lose

Ohhhhh Derby, you got me singing the blues

I haven't been so happy since boxing day

When Derby ran, forest away

Ohhhhh forest, why did you run away?

What ever happened to 'If I had the wings of an eagle...'?

That used to be my fav chant growing up. My dad would even let me (aged 8 or so) sing it around the house as it made him laugh.

They still sing it now and for some reason a few years back they changed it to wings of a sparrow!!! Why you would want the wings of a sparrow if you are carrying the @rse of a crow is beyond me.

Really? I haven't heard if for years. Granted I only get to 5 or so games a season.

Think we need the Uttox official archive version here. From back in the day I thought it was Sparrow, Horse. Tomorrow and Of Course. But we scored that often back in the day it's hard to be overly  prescriptive.

And not to overstate this, but the crow would not have the fertilising capacity of a horse, in truth.

I always thought it went:

If I had the wings of a sparrow
If I had the backside* of a crow
I'd fly over Nottingham Forest
and dump* on the barstewards* below.
