chewbacca
Didn't Russell take the corner against the dogs that was put into own net? That was a peach of a delivery.
cannable
When we first signed Coutts, Keogh and handed Buxton a regular spot we were scoring them for fun. We scored like 8 set-piece goals in our first three home games or something silly.
Alph
Goals from corners aren't as common as you'd imagine at the top end of football. Obviously some teams are built for set pieces. Bet we haven't conceded many from corners either?

Alph
Just came on here to make that point. When was the last time we conceded from a corner at PP? Can't remember one. I can actually only remember one corner being scored and that was Eustace v Wigan.

Think Russell's against Wolves and Lansbury's OG are the only goals we've seen at Pride Park from corners this season.

Dimmu
I remember posting the percent how many corners lead to goals maybe year ago? It was from the book The Numbers Game (excellent reading by the way) and it was very, very low indeed. Maybe under 1%? So especially with our players, I wouldn't mind if we just started keeping the ball from the corners. (Like Barcelona did some time ago) We have only two good players in attacking headers, Shotton and Martin. Keogh and Bucko are both good only defensively. The lad Keane, who we had on loan, looked like he would score from every single corner we had...
Ilsonram12
Omar is decent, I'd like to see tom ince take some as well as he was the main set play man at blackpool, just please keep jamie ward away from them!
Subman
Chesterfield in the FA Cup this year and we were 1-0 up, the chap in front of me made the same comment about us never scoring from corners, when was the last time we scored from a corner he asked? "About 10 minutes ago" I replied.
TroyDyer
Two at home all season does sound poor. I think what is worse is the lack of beating the first man. I actually think with Shotton on the park, throw ins are a bigger threat.

Bet we haven't conceded many from corners either? You'd think Ipswich would be top of set piece goals, or maybe a struggling team like Bolton or something... Nope... Watford who apparently play good football.

wixman1884
can we have Shotton throw all our corners into the box?
Tombo
I prefer Shotton throw ins to corners. Lot better chance on them. I remember a few years back in a Stoke game, the opposition defender tried to clear the ball for a throw, and then he put it out for a corner instead, because Stoke had Delap and Delap throws were harder to defend than a corner. Same thing with Shotton imo.
kingsy1884
I agree forget corners. Just lob it in the mixer. Those long throws caused havoc against Blackburn even with oafs like Hanley in there. The mind boggles what they would have done against the likes of Bournemouth.
