not being funny??? didnt think you were??

forums are about opinions youve got yours ive got mine

i agree hes a good coach and he has won stuff but he was shocking at Forest and England

And I think we should look at how he did at forest to gauge what he may do at this level with us??

his contacts helped him sign players like matt derbyshire and ishmail miller for fooks sake???

perhaps im the only one then??

So let me get this straight; people who criticised Clough after he'd been here 4 years got slated for it, yet the forum is now buzzing with criticism of McClaren before he's even been appointed to the job? Great stuff.

Ha ha but some of the people moaning at McLaren were loving Clough getting sacked.

Put this in perspective - to get a new manager in Clough had to be removed, simple. Starting point. Whether the board has taken the opportunity to improve on the previous status quo will remain to be seen, but Clough still had to be sacked to get to this point. Right decision to remove Clough, appointment of McClaren to be seen.

Very disappointed by this, judging by the betting it looks nailed on. As short as 1/5 with one bookie and now all the others at 10/1+. Problem is he has no recent track record of any success at all as a manager since a good few years ago, has he moved with the times football wise?

Has also often been criticised by his own fans for unimaginative and dull football.

Plus Forest fans will completely ridicule us if he is a failure, will make us a complete laughing stock if it doesnt work!

True that Derby went downhill during the Smith era but mainly cos the team was broken up and rebuilt too early really with inferior replacements, not sure how much influence McClaren had in the buys that  originally took Derby up and whether him leaving had any relation to the slide, probably they missed his coaching for sure but not necessarily making him the right man to be a manager.

Also they say never go back as it often doesnt work but obviously if it happens will have to hope he comes back to form, as lately he hasn't been any better than Paul Jewell at his recent clubs!

Derby County can tonight confirm that following yesterday’s departure of Manager Nigel Clough, Coaches Andy Garner, Gary Crosby, Johnny Metgod and Martin Taylor as well as Chief Scout Simon Clough have been placed on gardening leave.

Academy Manager Darren Wassall will take charge of Tuesday night’s home game at Pride Park Stadium against Ipswich Town and will be assisted by Senior Professional Development Coach Lee Glover and Academy Coach Pat Lyons.

The search for a successor to Clough continues, and further announcements will be made in due course.

First time he's ever been mentioned officially? Says it all really...

Would prefer him in a director of football as he seems to have good contacts and a better coach than manager but at least he knows the club - just hope he can motivate the players, at least it wont be hoofball.

The main thing as nigel alluded to before is that the academy is preserved and progressed, which i think it will.

Nigel being gone still seems too fresh to be thinking about the next era, i just wanna get those next three points and begin to heal haha
