Teknofear
Paul Simpson was sacked from the last 3 Football League clubs he managed. Not the record of a 'good manager in his own right'. Similar record to McClaren really, although i know, technically, he walked from Forest after a comical spell in charge. Brian Clough got sacked a few times, would you say he was a good manager? Of course you would, getting sacked is almost part and parcel of the job in football management.

Ambitious
No excuses for his role as England manager. Tried to appease the fans by making decisions they wanted IMO, but fans are very hypocritical - loads of cries of 'drop beckham' he then dropped him and then he was blasted for that. Madness. Same at Forest though, at the time the signings of Derbyshire, Miller, Reid and Greening were hardly poor signings, and Forest fans were bouncing off the walls at these coming through the door and I think Nigel would have jumped at the chance if he had the money (at the time) especially Greening! But none of them lived upto expectation, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Teknofear
Agree with all that bar improving Van Der Saar, he was always a top quality keeper. Yeah, remember his heroics for Fulham when Derby drew 1-1 with them in the FA cup
red_un
Forets fan here. All that you're saying is exactly the same as we said when we hired McClaren. We all tried to convince ourselves that it was a great appointment who would 'take us to the next level' which eluded Davies first time round. Truth is, the man is hopeless at his job. Any fire and guts will soon evaporate from the team, and you wi'l do no bette rthan you were under Nige. Don't kid yourselves.
Kirkbyram
I think to say he completely failed as England manager is unfair. He lost matches to Croatia and Russia in his group, both teams who went on to perform very well in the Euros, Croatia knocked out on pennos and Russia beaten by Spain (eventual champs). Far harder group than the current group we are struggling to get through. Yes England are always expected to qualify and yes it is deemed unacceptable if they don't, but it was by no means a certainty given the number of overhyped players in the squad at that time and the fact he had to follow Sven who had led a very unconvincing 2006 World Cup campaign. rynny
He went from being a good premier league keeper to one of the best in the world IMO. hopefully he can do the same with Granty (obviously on a more relative standard)I think he was already one of the best in the world. Always rated him. Just did a quick check on wiki and didn't realise how much he has won and some very impressive recordshttp://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwin_van_der_Sar Edit:not saying he didn't improve him just he was already a world class keeper. Some had a brief period of elation and are now back to being as miserable as ever ( no names mentioned). At least we know, everyone on here can be positive, it does exist within! Robocop_Andy
Forest fan coming in peace..Nigel clough being sacked has to be one of the worse decisions your board has ever made..Bringing though youngsters and lower league players (the non league Nigel tag looking back was a bit of a compliment! ) Yet u sack him for schteve???!!!! Look forward to signings such as George boating.. Jonathan greening.. Ismail miller! All massively overpaid players! Looking forward to the reverse fixture (even more so now!) Phoenix
It's worth mentioning that QPR have conceded just 2(two) league goals this season. I'm hoping that Schteeve will instill some much-needed stability to our defence.

He isn't signing the players here, that's the DOFs job, and you really think he was the man dishing out the contracts? I thought you had a transfer panel that sorted all that out? Your criticisms of him, won't affect his job here - unfortunately for you.
Robocop_Andy
We had a AP before the Al hasawis bought the club.As long as someone else is buying the players you'll be ok..He's a good coach but manager??
