The Princes trust run for decades by Charles as given underprivliged/poor children an opening into the work place, which otherwise that opportunity would not have been available.
Duke of Edinburgh award scheme which i had the pleasure to attend in 1968, so long ago, which helps children too bond and learn basic discipline, which sadly Great Britian today is missing.
Ram 59 mentioned charities, which a Royal name on the executive will open many doors, and they bring in a lot of money to help many causes.
Queen Elizabeth helped to secure a lot of business to the country from around the World over her 70 years, by entertaning business leaders from a range of companies.
Last i heard was it cost each individual 50 pence from their income tax to pay for the Royal family, which do hell of a lot to help the poor of this country.
Thankfully the negative view is only held by a small minority, so from a Poor Boy, long live the King.

You missed the point,  Forces and Police have to swear an oath to the Queen/King and are loyal to the Crown, and yes they have to work, it is their duty.
Postal workers have cancelled todays strike to work, because of their close association to the crown in respect for the Queen. Will be down town tonight and all the bars will be open, for me it should be the individuals choice to take a day off if they can be spared.
How many would want the day off if they were not paid, Sceptical me.

Served 9 years for Queen and country 1975 - 1984 and a Royalist through and through, are the troops having a day off, let alone the Police and other security services etc. Why should sport be cancelled, West Ham fans got it right with their show of respect.

Leeds away 3 - 0 HT, 5 -0 FT 1974/1975 left at half time for had a wedding reception to attend that night, and Derby was never at the races,  only time left early.
Lorry driver mate at the time was in London overnight, went to the Spurs v Derby cup replay, losing 3 - 1 with about 10 mins to go, left early next morning his landlady said you did well last night, controling his rage he left for his journey home, stopped at a transport cafe, bought a paper saw Derby had won 5 - 3 in extra time with Roger Davies scoring 3, did he get some stick in the pub.

It's about opinions and you're entitled to think this. Just as I'm entitled to mine (and naturally believe I'm right). I'm furious the person I consider our best player and the player, if the manager believed in him, who could be the best midfielder outside the Prem by the end of the season, is again the first and easiest person for the manager to drop. Absolutely furious.
Great we're winning. But that doesn't make it the right decision.

Interesting reading the comments about ageing players, and about keeping hold of Knight, Sibley and Bird: I read somewhere this week (possibly in the Louie Sibley thread), that Rosenior had deliberately brought in some older players to act as role models fir our youngsters, and that was why Louie has stepped up a level or two this year.
If so it confirms that Rosenior is a wise cookie, because he deliberately targeted some of our signings because either he had already worked with them, or because they had played with some of the other signings, meaning that it would take less time fir the team to gel!

We can still sign free agents, so maybe a RB imminent!!!  now the transfer window closed, must be players wanting a club and their wage demands will have dropped, maybe more buisness to be done ?

The current squad would definitely survive in the championship. Steady hand on the Tiller from the boy Clowes is exactly what we needed. Would prefer to see him jetting around a bit and teeing off at the Belfry a bit more though ?.

So pleased for Sibley, reading your comments over the last couple of games, that he has finally been given his chance to prove what a good player he will be in time, did not agree with Rooney publicly humiiating the young lad, whatever your business you do not do this, you do it behind closed doors.
