Did you hear him talking about how the new coaching rules affected him yesterday? Said he wasn't allowed to step forward to discuss tactics with Richie Barker and felt uncomfortable doing it further back within earshot of the subs.

An unintended consequence of the changes designed to protect the fourth official.

Warne needs to cut out the peripherals that impact on him , easier said than done if you're that type of person. I am one myself. Makes you lose focus.

It didn’t seem to affect Maloney though all managers will have to get use to it. If he wanted a greater say just stand in dugout instead of barker

Something has to change; play to the strengths of the players we have instead of trying to force a system on them for a start. Several of our players looked in my view out of position and were thus rendered ineffective (NML, Bird) and in midfield it was the same old same old. The number of times our players had the ball and were trying to find options but couldn’t was ridiculous.
Wigan should have been there for the taking; they have lost 16 players from their first team squad since the end of last season including their top scorer and yet they looked much more comfortable, composed and well drilled than us all game.

Why do I have a Feeling of Cocu ? Trying to force a system on players that can’t play it.

    besides Ward and Forsyth

Defence  are like cart horses slow , pedestrian and were frequently out of position or caught out

the midfield had no energy for the alleged pressing and looked burnt out

as for NML did he actually have any idea where he was playing.

no problem with collo besides dropping far too deep and having no service besides the predictable Joe Ward cross

  3. Looking at championship for options from looking at yesterday’s team selections

Blackburn- Ennis just signed but didn’t come on / Jake Garrett CM 20 years old

West Brom - Alex Morratt - CM started on the bench

     Andy King - Bristol city

Josh coburn - Middlesbrough bench didn’t come on

Ryan Leonard and Tom Bradshaw- millwall  - came on but 90 mins

Aidomo Emakhu- young fast striker - millwall

adam Idah Norwich - came on at 90 and scored but didn’t start

Joshua Kayode - Rotherham young powerful striker

Josh Ginnelly- CAM - Swansea on bench didn’t come on 12 goals on loan at hearts last year

Not read much of the thread. My two pence worth is that the formation just doesn’t work.

We need 2 strikers. NML isn’t good enough to play in the middle of the pitch. bird isn’t good enough to play that high.

We desperately need a number 10 who can talk the ball on the half turn between the lines.

Think too 6 will be a good finish

I hate it when a manager tries to create a formation for players that don’t fit it.

for me it should be 4-3-3 or 4-4-2

    Wildsmith

    wilson Bradley cashin Forsyth

    Sibley  bird hourihane

    Ward Washington NML

    Vickers

    Wilson  Nelson cashin  elder

    Ward Hourihane Bird NML

    washington + Collins

  5. Slow defence  and very error prone

    slow midfield

    over reliance of ward’s cross

    Collins not good enough.

I know it’s the first game but I didn’t enjoy that style of football at all! I’ll wait to analyse Warne but I think top 10

He’s also about as far away from a Warne player as it gets. As much as Wednesday fans love Bannan, they still slate the fact he does nothing but get booked out of possession. Just saves his energy for when they have the ball.

My source didn’t say a definite I agree I like him but his wages would cripple us. I’d imagine slot of managers follow the situation of clubs like Wednesday new manager lots of new signings where might certain players fit and take a punt.

personally I’d go for Moxon , Tunicliffe (free) or as a wild card Kyle Turner from Scottish championship plays for Partick thistle nine assists and 5 goals from CM /CAM

Only joking but he was at training yesterday but only watching.

Wasn’t he on a podcast last year talking about doing his coaching badges? I remember him saying how much he loved derby but was very open about his hatred of certain managers and Mel

I'm not sure how Blackpool could be considered favourite to sign Waghorn when he's been training with us for the last 2 weeks.

Never consider Smith as an option, but would be a very good one if true. Adds to our set piece threat, allows us to mix it up as Warne likes, and most importantly, would definitely improve our first 11. Sheff Weds have just signed another forward today, so it may have been that signing holding things up? I imagine this could be a loan with view to permanent in the summer.

Was talking to my source yesterday there appears to be some truth in the Smith rumours. Another new name has been suggested and I’m unsure if the fans will like it but my source mentioned an old head battler type  in midfield on an year deal apparently has fallen out with the new manager and Warne has been in contact with him since about a week  ago. I won’t name him but is small , very mouthy and highly experienced and slightly receding hairline. Yes he has a beard
