Tell that to Plymouth. They even managed it with a 13 goal striker.

They also had Finn azzaz on a loan fee and Sam cosgrove on a loan fee and the same with Whittaker all of those loan fees probably outweighs our total available budget this season

I didn’t read it as there’s no money to spend, it says to me we’re still hampered in what we’re allowed to spend. This is why we’ve had sign players from other clubs on structured deals (Washington and Wilson). This must be summer number 5 where the EFL have meddled in our transfer dealings.

    I agree

£2-3 million in the bank can’t touch it .

EFL - you are only allowed £300k that 2-3 million contributes to income generated.

we need to go up this season then aren’t all restrictions gone next season?

No no, you don’t understand. We must keep players who don’t want to be here hostage. They can be handcuffed at Moor Farm overnight.

That must be the mysterious “derby way” so do we gaffer tape cashin to the entrance  and forcefully make him sign a B4 drafted release clause of £30m quid 🤔

  4. That’s seems to suggest we’re still crippled by the EFL restrictions but I guess next season that’s £2m we could spend. Just goes to show where we are because of MM.

if that’s the case £300k then get Rhodes and say LWB and 10 with a loan fee. It’s not great but it’s what it is.

seems to demonstrate why we didn’t go after Alfie May £300k would be all our budget

  5. From those comments been looking at the championship

Sonny Perkins or Joe gelhart - Leeds strikers loan

Leo heldj- LWB - Leeds loan

    josh coburn- striker boro  loan

    Harry Leonard- striker Blackburn loan

jamie Patterson - striker /winger Swansea loan / fee

max watters - striker Cardiff loan

tom Bradshaw - striker millwall loan / fee

Matty Godden - striker Coventry fee

Jordan Rhodes - striker  Huddersfield - fee or loan

cohen Bramall - LWB Rotherham loan

tom eaves - striker Rotherham  - loan or fee

    Jonathan Kodja- striker free

    connor wickham- striker free

    Morgan fox - LWB free

    Scott Malone LWB free

  6. After having a think about it if we get another striker say godden or Ladapo as well as a fee for a CAM I’d be ok with Rhodes. Our squad looks very similar style to Sheff Wed and looking at their forward line Michael Smith who happened to play for Warne did nothing for several years then scored 19 for Rotherham then 17 last season. I genuinely think Collins could get 15, Washington 10-15 and Rhodes 10-15 with enough creativity around them

  7. Part of me feels that although Clowes saved us I can’t see him being here longer than 2 years he won’t spend money to an extent probably wise considering the error of judgment of Mel. If we sign Rhodes Warne will have a lot of explaining to do as it would show either we have no ambition or quite frankly all the money we receive is going towards repairing other areas of our finances destroyed by Mel e.g. money for knight is actually going on the academy not the first team

Must be some prem fringe lads looking for first team football that are better options. Why settle on Rhodes.
The money thing is odd after what Clowes said. And that was before Bielik and Knight was sold and we’ve since sold over 20K season tickets. Surly we have a bit of money to buy a striker?

    Yeah from the fees

    knight £1.75m +

    bielik around £800k +

    World Cup money £122k

if we have a sell on for Whittaker £100k

    thats almost £3m

    surely this would be better

    £1m on Ladapo

750k on CAM / loan fee for azzaz

£350k for godden or Jao on a free

I sadly think unless we’re in the championship we won’t spend money

Of course we haven’t been linked with good strikers like Nombe and JCH (or another!) we are only interested in 💩 ones.

We obviously don’t have the money otherwise I’d expect us to get better. Smith , May , Ladapo and Godden would be/have been better options

We need a proven goalscorer to add to Washington & Collins.

Ladapo, Joao, JCH & Assombalonga are all very good options for this level....i also think Sharp, Godden & Martin would all score plenty of goals at this level too.

I agree with the suggestions but as has been suggested to myself and others I think even with the knight money we aren’t particularly free to spend. I’d imagine the absolute most we’d spend would be £750k maybe £1m and that would not get you JCH, Langstaff but would probably get you a free agent, Ladapo or godden. Realistically though I think we’ll end up with a free agent or a fee paying loan

I apologise if I’m incorrect in this evaluation but, do the other clubs that have recently had financial problems seem to be out of restrictions a lot quicker and given more leniency then we had? if not it really shows how horrendous Mel left us!

Barnsley have cancelled a friendly at buxton tomorrow night unable to field a team. Dunno if something has happened there?

Well if anything’s to go buy they’re in a lot of trouble for FFP. They also shopped themselves to the EFL

  13. Serious question are any of the board members of Gadsbys takeover on this forum if so would they be interested in buying Southend if I had the money i would. It breaks my heart seeing the desperate fans praying this morning on social media that their club survives

But I imagine that budget still requires David Clowes to put his hands in his pockets. So therefore - yes we shall be able to spend some of it but I wouldn't imagine all of it.

Also - I wouldn't be surprised if the incoming fees was spread out over 2 or even 3 year payment schemes.

I agree for example this is unlikely but hypothetically speaking we sign Clarke Harris on a 3 year deal it would probably be £750k + extra 500k -750k on appearances or goals then maybe £1m if we get promoted.

they can quote £3-5m realistically he’s £2m tops

Brilliant signing, on a free a year after being League 2 player of fhe year. Provides cover/competition to both wing back positions.

7 really good signings for this level with no transfer fee spent, time to get a firat choice forward in to show our intent. Defensively we look solid now, maybe a CB short if we decide to send Rooney out on loan.

Tbh I’d also get flint in as well if we’re playing three at the back.

strikers id like to go after now

    nombe

    smith

    Collins Bristol R

    Godden

    if we sell cashin

    JCH / Langstaff

    plus Frankie Kent at Peterborough

Two biggest takeaways, having a manager out with you running at 7am, you'll want to run through brickwalls for that type of manager.

Collins is looking in great shape really big season for him!

I remember the bielsa Leeds team they had so much energy. If this team could do that I think we’d be very successful this season
