This is not a criticism it’s just frustrating what Mel has done to us to be in this situation I think.
I think we’ll do ok this season but currently it’s about a top 6 team not a top two team which depends on your albi

Don't fotget what nearly happened under Morris, nearly had no club, I for one support the way we are doing our business. Also can not wait to go next week against Wigan, and support the lads. Got a good feeling about the up coming season.

No money it’s a joke of a situation even if we got a conference north player for £80k plus wages that would take up 1/3 of our allowed spend. No wonder we can’t sign any forwards if Warne is correct £200k including wages won’t get you anyone

At this level there is no such thing as a guaranteed 20+ goals a season, its difficult to get that at every level.
Nobody last summer thought McGoldrick would get 20+ goals & most would have thought if a player did it would have been Collins who is on our books still & has hit 20+ goals at this level.
For context, last season only 3 players got 20+ league goals in the Prem & in the Champ then 5 in League 1.
Look at Colby bishop didn’t score many then got two 10+ seasons at Stanley got a move to Pompey and scored 20 last season.
with the right style , full team contributions I don’t see why Washington Collins or even waggy if we sign him couldn’t get 15+ in league 1

I’d not be too bothered by waghorn maybe even wickham on a free too
then maybe look for a few loans. I’ve come to the realisation I’ve got to lower my expectations especially how restricted we are because if we didn’t have the restrictions I’d guarantee we’d probably fork out the odd £400-500k.
I don’t expect us to be automatics but anything less than top 6 I think Warne will be under pressure maybe another season where we have no restrictions and that would be roughly three seasons to look at progression which I think is enough in modern football to know where you’re heading

I wouldn't bring any Knights into an Islamic debate personally.
Back onto a football point is it correct the restrictions still in place stops us reinvesting the money generated this season but does this restriction end in January or the summer ? I was unsure if it was a window restriction or season restriction?

I see Oxford had a £400k bid rejected for Marriott it’s proving tough to compete I think

I wonder... Does anyone know how much Warne spend at Rovrum to get his 3 promotions there?
17-18 - 11 players - 5 on a free + proctor £75k, Adjayi few hundred k, same with smith , palmer say around £750 k total
19-20 - 9 players - 3 on a free + Ladapo , Clarke, Lindsey, Ogbene and tilt say around £1m + for the lot
21-22- 9 players - 3 on a free , 3 on loan oddofin, rathbone, bola those three from looking rumoured to cost around £1m in total
say those figures are correct Imagine 2.75-3m+ across three seasons

Tbh where the EFL restrictions has crippled us in the transfer window is in the attacking options e.g. Charlton have just spent £1.5m on three attacking players this season. I’m happy with the signings but it just shows where we realistically are due to poor financial practices. I trust Warne but I’d say this side is currently top 6 at best no where near the top 2.
I wonder if we sold Cashin for say £3-5m we could actually use that on a striker ?
-
I’d imagine 2-3 in then maybe an extra loan on deadline day
in January if we’re around too four can perhaps look at pre contract players , loans with a view to a permanent deal

I’d rather get waggy on a free then sign a 10 on loan with £150-200k loan fee surely you’d be able to get a Finn azzaz type with a loan fee
that frees up say £100k for an extra loan or free agent if needed
-
Could we offer Barkhuizen or sibley plus £150-200k for Ladapo
sibley been about £500k Barkhuizen being about £350k

Sam surridge. This would be a excellent signing. Guessing championship interest would be there.
Wasn’t he going to the MLS for £5m?

So basically, we could have had one for a few hundred grand but would’ve signed half the players and those available for a few hundred grand ain’t that good anyway.
Yeah that’s what I’m taking from it imagine if we’d signed Alfie May and then no one else

It looks like it’s been spent on player wages, although after losing: Davies, Chester, Knight, Bielik and McGoldrick I wouldn’t have thought that was an issue. You would expect those 5 to be within our top 8 earners off the books from last season.
Definitely mixed messages from the club, perhaps we need to raise cash in sales every year whilst at this level to keep ticking by, although the transfer strategy then comes into question as we seem to have avoided players who would have potential sell-on value.
It does seem like we’re playing with a smaller budget than last season, albeit the money from transfers has kept it at a level.
I’d imagine club upkeep , maintaining the academy for starters.

Max watters and Andy Dallas joined Barnsley decent signings

Good choice this. Would make sense too.
Just had a quick look and he was injured early in pre season but back training this week.
So could potentially be one we're looking at and why he's not signed yet...
Question, how on earth did Washington pass a medical if he’s injured ? 🤔

Yeah good shout. Only thing with Sessegnon is that he's a right back.
Granted he played left wing back for Charlton but his stronger foot is his right. I think Warne would prefer a left footer there.
Godden would be my number one choice. I just think he'd command a fee and from Warne's comments the other day that doesn't look like something we'd do.
Josh Onomah would be a great signing
Johnson from Preston is a free agent I think he’d be a good CAM ?

Someone I’m sat with speaks to Warne regularly at matches asked him about strikers mentioning Ladapo apparently Warne said he’s on 16,000 a week at Ipswich
