Just read (yet another pessimistic) Matt Slater article in the Athletic. From his sources and I do think he’s genuine, the view from outside Derby within football, and from agents, insolvency experts, administrator, lawyers, brokers - most people he has spoken to think liquidation is a distinct possibility as the debts are just too high. He has taken this view from the start and to be honest, the things he cited in his latest article to justify his argument - the companies house statement of affairs -for the most part weren’t new news and don’t make our position more precarious.
But while I don’t share his pessimism, his article highlights the situation. We’re relying on someone seriously wealthy who potentially is prepared to pay over the odds because they can see long term potential and are prepared to risk losing money to fulfill an ambition of owning a football club.

We have posters saying they are not comfortable about how close Kirchner is to Rooney and his people and concerned that Rooney may have brought them in thus making him almost bulletproof in the job. We have people concerned at Rush/Appleby being involved again (even though they won’t - their in the game of bringing bidders to the table they won’t be around post acquisition). Quite simply we don’t have a bloody choice. There’s 4 at the moment who is to say the other 3 won’t walk away, or god forbid all 4. Quite simply we don’t have a bloody choice who we get, we should accept whoever we get from these 4 credible bidders with open arms because it will mean the club is saved whatever happens. I think I’ve been swept up by the confidence of the administrators, this remains a tricky situation.
On a more positive note, in the comments on Matt Slater’s article Matt also reveals he’s recently spoken to an insolvency expert who thinks the administrator might have a convincing argument to persuade HMRC to accept 25p in the pound (the minimum EFL requirement) on the basis that with football creditors needing to be paid, if the company (DCFCs 6 companies or whatever) don’t have the assets to settle the debt HMRC can’t compel a new owner to settle it. He’s the only person to argue this though. Additionally his sources think Wycombe and Boro don’t have much of a case against us, they’d be better off going after the EFL for not enforcing their rules properly. Therefore their claims are more of an annoyance rather than a legitimate concern threatening a deal.
We wait and see. Im an optimist and therefore remain hopeful but we should be grateful for whoever takes a punt on us because we’re not in a position to pick and choose.

I honestly reckon you’re wrong. Not because there aren’t better managers with more tactical genius, which maybe true in certain circumstances; but because Rooney has done an exceptional job inspiring these players to play as a unit, to play for him and each other, and to largely follow instructions. I sincerely doubt any other manager, we could reasonably hope to get, could have done that.
Last night was a tough one, player for player they had more than we have, but we ran them close for half the game. Against Bournemouth and Fulham our eager 2 litre 4 cylinder beat the odds against those with 6 cylinders and another 1000cc.
I do want to see how we shape up against more pedestrian opponents but I remain convinced that Rooney is doing a great job with what he has AND I retain considerable  confidence that the young guns in our team are going to get better as individuals.
Bird, Knight, Ebosele, Thomson, Buchanan, Watson … The oldest is 21 … Think about it and then think who understands their game and potential better than anyone.

Lovely walk with my wife and dog in the snow from Darley Park along the river through Allestree Park lunch at the (cough) Joiners on to Mackworth and back to Darley Abbey via Markeaton Park. Even tonight’s match has not dampened the enjoyment. We are so fortunate to be able to walk in such lovely countryside around our City and with the snow on the ground today was particularly special.

Just in disappointed of course but overall a fair result. We were good value for the lead at half time having defended well and created the better chances though had to play too much without the ball. Second half this continued and we got ragged lost shape and gave away any possession too easily once they equalised. Unfortunately the winner was always coming. Sometimes you are beaten by a better team over 90 minutes and this was the case tonight.

I think you've misinterpreted what I meant by that a little. To be clear QPR deserved to win. But we got our noses in front and looked initially like we could hold them at bay with them looking a bit toothless in the first half.
The issue was through a combination of being content to give up the ball and go long, try and force things down the left and a player in Morrison who just wasn't in the game we ended up playing too much without the ball. This caused us to tire out by the second half and it's why they started really opening us up.
Shift things tactically to keep the ball better and keep their back 3/5 a bit more honest and we stand a better chance at coming away with a positive result.

Pretty much my match report. Fair result. Good first half hour but ran out of steam. Shinnie was knackered. Fozzy didn’t have a great game but their No 37 was skilled and powerful. He was up against it. Tommo looked excellent again, Knight had a good game as did Byrne, great pass (was it Bird or Shinnie ? ) and cracking finish from the skipper,  but in the end the better team won. Lovely fluid front 3

I would have been delighted with 3 points from the last 3 games. We got 4 and have played with big hearts in every game.
We move on to the next one.

Have to confess these results do sadden me more than they would have in previous seasons. The coaches, players and fans are giving it some proper welly, but to drop 16 points from winning positions in only 20 games is hard to take. I'm a pretty resilient character, or I like to think so, so I tend to bounce back quick enough, but it's hard to vocalise how much I admire the attitude of the players in particular. Hearts of lions, the lot of them. Unfortunately, this squad is threadbare to say the least and lady luck has abandoned the lads completely it seems. Maybe we used up our share against Fulham ?‍♂️

It could feel different depending on where you stood on any particular day. For example, I was in the Colombo for that game vs Spurs, and it didn't feel half as cramped as it did in exactly the same spot for the title decider against Liverpool 2 seasons later, when the gate was supposedly 3,000 less. I'd also have said that there were fewer there for that Spurs game than there was for the game against Everton a few weeks earlier, though I think the Everton attendance was 'only' around 37,000 I think.
