But who is to say he wouldn't have sold the club if not for covid? And administration avoided? It is hardly an "excuse", covid has had a devastating affect on revenues and indeed on valuations of players and other assets as well as on the  prospects of selling the club. Anoyone who denies that must have an agenda against Morris.

Nobody is saying that. They are saying COVID was the proximate cause of the administration , the final straw.

The argument for reducing the points deduction, rather than claiming it should be withdrawn completely, is precisely because it's accepted that Covid wasn't the only factor, but it was the one that tipped the club into insolvency. It isn't hard to understand that losing 2/3rds of the club's revenue would have a devastating effect if replacement funding wasn't forthcoming.

I would presume the administrators are not emotionally involved in their task other than a successful outcome for their company. They have complete access to all the information available while we only have bits and rumours.
If they believe there is a case to be made with the points then it could potentially make us far more saleable.
To liken them to a pound shop Mel Morris makes you appear like you want them, and Derby, to fail.

You have massive passionate fan base that will follow the lads all over country but first thing to get rid of embargo and admin to clear the debts as much as you can.
2nd thing is try leave roony some spending in jan as he not really had anything to spend.
    3. When club start selling them again please keep in mind that need to a bit cheaper so that we get a full pp again but also were the club can make a profit again.
4 when selling food also make reasonable pricing dont make it so experance that nobody buys anything from the ground.
    5. When new shirts come try and them around £30 mark for adults shirts and kids around £15 mark.
This way you will sell more but also make more money put into the club again.
    6. Match day tickets you could £15 to £20 mark this will also help to fill pp again and also help long term of running the club in a good way.
    7. Get roadriders back at decent prices or if possible get ramaway back on the trains or a discount for Derby county fans that wish to use trains for away games.
Derby county is means everything to me and like to lot of us.

If by traditionally been a major club you mean they had a good run in the 90's then fair enough but that's all they've had. Now, they're exactly where they have been for pretty much the entirety of the last 50 years. Between 1966-2006 they had 11 top 10 finishes with all but 3 coming in the 1993-2006  era. That's not a sign they're a big club competing at the top historically and have recently fallen off their perch but rather they had a good run for a decade like a lot of teams but that it was out of the norm historically for them.

If Derby managed to finish mid-table in the prem each year, spend 125 million net in 5 years and have the odd run at Europe we'd mostly be very happy with that. I doubt any of us would be wallowing in misery demanding the chairman out and pretending somehow we're the most hard done club in the entire football league shouting at others that 'you haven't had to experience it' like it's some kind of torture.

Yes on that Friday night when it all broke if you'd said even two parties would be interested I'd have been ecstatic.  It felt desperate over that weekend. To allegedly have a few credible interested parties is really really encouraging. Perhaps some would rather we were liquidated

I don't want to be rude, but newcastle fans have not had a tough 14 years. Nowhere near - stop all the woe is me stuff. Newcastle United have been in a comfortable position for the entire period and are facing none of the challenges that are going to kill off half of the football league. Mel Morris is one of the better owners we've had in the last 20 years and he put us in administration for christ sake.
This why most other clubs dont have any sympathy for your fans and their demands for Ashley to be removed. Completely out of touch with the rest of the footballing world.

The problem is, there isn't time to wait for a "better" : if a take-over isn't ready to go through by the end of the year, we'll lose most of our sellable players and we might not even then have sufficient funds for the Administrators to consider keeping the club going. That's reality.
I'm guessing that other potential bidders are not attracting much support because we don't know what substance they have, or confirmation of where the money is coming from. Run this again when there's more detail of the individual bidders.

I do think Ashley's a massive bell-end but he knows how to run a sustainable club.  His philosophy to buy young players with potential to sell on is always good in theory but it can only be a success with good scouting.  I wouldn't mind whoever came in if they immediately turf sons of owners/managers out the door and put in place a solid, far reaching scouting system.  We haven't had a good success rate at finding cheap gems since Simon Clough was here.  As a fan I'd always be more excited about signing an unknown like Idiakez than a (supposed) world beater like Jacob "The Smiler" Butterfield...

I think you’ll find that Chad Littleover and Alvaston are inside the Derby City Boundary.
Furthermore it’s Derby County not Derby City which gives the Rams a large catchment area within the County. We have also traditionally drawn well from North West Leicestershire and East Staffordshire.

We don't need a Mike Ashley.
We need a Matthew Benham or Tony Bloom.
The only reason Ashley could be considered is if it's him or bust.

Whilst @GeordieRam maintains his polite and well reasoned opinions, (whether we agree with them or not), there should be no hints that he and/or his opinions aren’t welcome on here.
If he doesn’t share those opinions with us… the victims… the affected… the so called “homeless people”… then he has nobody else to share them with, because quite literally nobody else gives a T0$$!
Unfair to suggest that he is being insensitive by airing his views on here, IMO.
If he gets cocky, mind, or starts pointing and laughing at us, then strip him of his barcode, soak him in a vat of broon, then dunk him in The Derwent, I say!
    So far, he’s behaved impeccably.

Currently they may be well ran clubs but this will likely be a short term thing. Past flavours of the month include Swansea, Bournemouth, Fulham, Stoke, Bolton, Portsmouth, Cardiff, Middlesbrough...
It seems a strange thing to say but success does not necessarily mean that a club is being well ran. Football is chaotic and the only thing that generally gives a club some order amongst it is either appointing the right manager at the right time (which is absolute guess work and nobody chooses consistently well), or throwing money at it until eventually it pays off. Both Ashley and Morris have been fantastic businessmen but appear clueless within football and to me this says more about football than it does about these men.

Bit unfair on the Geordie lad really. He is pointing out that Newcastle were a decent premier league outfit before Ashley took over, several years with a top 7 or above finish then once Ashley took over a decline with 2 relegations afterwards.

Brighton, Southampton, Leeds, Villa, Burnley, Brentford are all well run clubs.
The problem with Newcastle is that there has been no clear strategy, unlike the club mentioned above. They have a huge fanbase and with that comes expectation. The club just haven't looked like delivering anything of any substance. They've been relegated twice, close to the drop many times and survived in spite of Mike Ashley.

Newcastle had a great team in the 90s, regardless of not winning trophies then, they were a fantastic team to watch. Always found the Newcastle support to be passionate. Know a 90 year old Newcastle fan, can have great conversations about football of the 1930s and he remembers top Newcastle aides from decades ago.

Still 9th. Doesn't matter when they were, and in the Sky-PL age we've challenged and been regulars in European competitions before him.
It wasn't, Benitez galvanised the club, offered hope and is a top class manager. Look at what he's achieving with Everton having only spent £2m(?). Ashley had the chance to kick on, without spending big and willingly chose not to.
Perhaps, but when an owner skims off the top to the point where it's to the detriment of the club it's not good. It's only paper talk and I know you'll take almost anyone with the club almost on it's knees but I hope that it isn't Ashley. I don't know if there's anyone else in the running, I hope there is. Someone better.
Anyway, I truly wish you, others on this board and the whole of DCFC nothing but the best, assuming I forget my login details, which I probably will. You should come through this, too much of a standing in the game to not. I hope.

He is terrible. What has he done? They went down twice during his tenure. Relegation battle practically every season. They've stayed up in spite of Mike Ashley. Poor player recruitment, poor manager recruitment, poor training ground. That club has been doing nothing for years. And when you take into account the history and size of the fanbase, it's shocking.
Derby fans are giving Ashley credit because Mel Morris has sold us down the river. Just because we've been run like crap doesn't mean Ashley is a great football club operator. Mel Morris was just that bad. We expect an owner to not gamble away the future of our club.

Interesting comments and good to read a Newcastle fan’s opinion. Think Derby fans just want a club to support in years to come . Don’t know if Mike Ashley is interested in Derby or who else is but think fans will welcome anyone at this moment to prevent liquidation. Tough times
