I stopped listening as soon as they referred to him as ‘one of the countries leading journalists’. That’s piffle, he’s a click bait artist writing for a rag that can barely be identified as a newspaper

Bend the rules all you like if you go up, but if you don't get promotion the EFL will bully you all the way down the leagues, what a nasty, vindictive, self-serving organisation we belong to.

Just another article to make the idiot public think we've actually done something deserving of such treatment

Whether it’s  9 points or 17 points, the extra 8 is largely irrelevant. It just takes us from a 1% chance of survival to 0%.

the only way the admins should/would have agreed to it is if the EFL were pushing to have points knocked off next season as well. They’d have claimed Derby were acting maliciously and so deserve the extra punishment. The admins wouldn’t want to risk that so gave in.

Pathetic again from Nixon. -9 or -90 it makes no difference as we’d still be down so why reluctantly accept -9 instead of -17 the outcome is the same.

But the appeal was about the Admin punishment of 12 points wasn't it? Absolutely nothing to do with FFP for which, bizarrely, as far as I know we have not been charged with anything yet. Any chance of some transparency?
It seems the EFL, are desperate to see us relegated, rather than simply applying their own rules even handedly.

Parachute payments last for 3 years - not just one. The last 3 seasons have seen at least 2 parachute teams get promoted and this year will almost certainly be the same.
    20-21 - watford and norwich
    19-20 fulham and west brom
    18-19 villa and norwich
We've also lost our last 4 playoff campaigns to parachute teams as far as i can see.
Parachute payments and their higher allowable losses create a huge advantage for these teams.

It’s not always about a return first time around as they have 3 years at it.

A good read that was Reg, But not for those who believe in Fairy Tales, Football for me lost it's Soul years ago, I can't put a date/time on it, The passion I had for football has got me into bother with Away fans, Home fans, Family, The Law, The Courts, All because of a team called Derby County, They could have been aliens from another planet who ate their children and i've still walked on broken glass barefooted to watch them.
Football is a Corrupt Sport, FIFA, UEFA, CONCACAF and others are even today in it for the Money, Fans like B4 who posts on here, He and his Dad go home and away, Spend their hard earned, Are treated when going away as an inconvenience, He's where I and many many 1000s were back in the day.
In todays World of Football...it's run by those who have NO! affinity to the club they own, Players who cheat, Refs who are incompetent have taken the game to another World, Yesterday England Vs Albania...2mins of injury time in the 1st half, When there were 4 stopages from Albanian players going down injuered amounting to close on 8mins, The fans are still being cheated, The price fans pay for this division is £30+ for an away game...and people still pay it...and fare play to them.
Sorry for the rant all unfortunately it's the World we live in...driven by £££££££££££££££££££££.

The other thing is that parachute runs parallel with P+S .. so 8 teams get this helping hand whilst the others can’t even gamble without being hit. It’s counter intuitive.
He’s got a sword, you’ve got a pointed stick. You try and buy a sword and “they” say you can’t have one, you tried to use one anyway, so they take  your pointed stick from you and giving you a chocolate teapot.

The European Super League altho mothballed will come about...but not in the format that was proposed, You can bet your Grans Pension that talks are still ongoing concerning BIG EU clubs, Clubs imo will resign from their leagues and set up a closed shop of around 18 of the biggest teams and play in a league format as is now...38 games, TV companies around the World will cream themselves over this...and the rest of the Premier teams will shrivell into the corner as the money tap has slowley dried up...all in the realms of fantasy now, But this is what the Bigger clubs want in Europe.

Greedy b's rarely volunteer to take a smaller piece of the pie. Unless there was a way of legislating for a more equal distribution, it'll never happen.
It's for those very reasons that when I hear any football club owners blarting on about "fairness", I get nauseous, because none of them would vote for it if they were in the PL. Not. One.

Bournemouth cheated their way up with Russian money. How any club with a stadium that barely holds 12k is even in the championship I don't know! They were lucky that they got that promotion otherwise they'd have been looking at some serious problems with the FL.

Exactly....nobody is sugar coating the standard of football, those that say league was good last time may be living in the past, that’s where we ducking come from.
Life like football is what you make of it, park the entitlement, enjoy it for what it is. At least with modern stadia, most of the time you don’t have to wade in puddles of urine in the away bogs, that can’t cope with a few thousand away fans. Walsall away was always an experience ?
League 1 will be, what it will be, too much doom and gloom sometimes, I’ll just be happy to see us reset and follow the team to a new future, just like last time, it will feel awful but then the challenge of trying to get back up will begin.

To be honest Pearson told it like it was in interview ' if I had 11 Craig Brysons this club would be top,  the players at the club aren't as good as they think they are or aren't willing to show the correct application.  24 HRs later the storming of the citadel lead by Captain Keogh and his removal.

There nothing dark about the EFL, as a body they are simply incompetent and unprofessional, being dark, manipulative and cunning requires planning and a clear objective, there is no evidence that the  EFL has any of these skills.
Remember these are the people that used Morecambe's ground as a price reference for Pride Park?

Blame game for me one of the main culprits is Sam Rush, he was the best paid CEO in the championship, so should have guided the club into a stable and financialy sound club, but instead correct me if i am wrong, he had a 25% interest in a players agency where the club signed 8 or more players through that agency for £4 million plus each on staggering contracts 4 or 5 years on mickey mouse wages for their limited ability, did the club make any money on those players?
Sadly Mel at the start put his trust in alleged football advicers, for me he made a error with his advicers, no excuse for how he has left the club, lets hope a final twist he donates the ground to the new owners.
Sam Rush i for one do not want him near our club again.

Parachute payments have long since outlived their original purpose, i.e. to act as a financial safety net for relegated clubs to be able to continue to pay expensive players' wages and any outstanding transfer fee installments from their time in the Premier League. Instead, they've simply become a war chest for relegated clubs to buy and pay players far beyond the reach of other Championship clubs, thereby gaining a significant advantage. Personally, I'd either:
    a) - Scrap them and just pool the combined money to be shared out throughout the EFL. If relegated clubs can't afford to pay players, that's their own fault, just like any other Championship club.
    b) - If the principle of financial support for relegated clubs is maintained, the money should be held centrally by an independent body and money only released on a monthly basis for the sole purpose of paying existing outgoings such as players wages and transfer fee installments. New players and their wages would have to be paid for by the relegated club themselves, not by the fund (again, like any other Championship club).
You simply can't have any form of financial fair play whilst allowing some clubs to receive massive payouts from a third party (i.e. the Premier League); it's a contradiction in terms.

Probably a PL2 is the best answer with 18 PL1 and 20 PL2 making PL2 packed with more “big” clubs and thus more marketable.
Relegation to EFL as usual but financial gulf between between PL2 and Champ reduced with no parachute payments but financial support for all EFL clubs from the now more profitable PL.

But promoted clubs need to spend to compete in the PL. If they got relegated into the Championship in their first PL season and didn't have parachute payments they'd be stuck with a bunch of players on high wages and got out of business.
The source of the problem is the Premier Leagues never ending greed and 'profit above all else nature'. Football died in England in 1992.
