Oh for sure he did, but on the 10/12 million, I was thinking along the lines of the Bradley Johnson/Jacob Butterfield transfers which amounted to around that figure and my, at the time, thinking “ nice one Mel” (not that I thought that in retrospect regarding Butterfield, it just didn’t really happen for him here)
Re the Sarah Millican remark, in my opinion, she is not funny and would make a good comedienne sick.
Thats your opinion, she seems to have large audiences so cant all think that.

Come on Kath, that line doesn’t wash. People saw Morris as a competent and responsible businessman. As far as I’m concerned, if we were spending 8, 10, 12 million quid it was, I believed, budgeted for. There was a business plan.
Yeah, I thought it was great and I was all “ good old boy Mel” but I never thought for a second Morris would turn out to be to Derby County what Sarah Millican is to comedy.
It seems he spent more than 12 million. What do you mean about the sarah millican remark.

Yes, probably doubts but when the chairman and head of finance tell you we’re within the rules, us fans were not in any position to doubt them and start calling for heads to roll.
I must be a very cynical person then not taking eveyones statements as fact.

Why would we?
Weren’t we told my Mel that we were within FFP/P&S rules? We didn’t have access to any of the financial details to dispute the assurances he was giving us.

Must have been a bit of doubt when spending millions on players and manager pay offs.

Same here i was lucky enough to be around in the late sixties.

League One doesn't operate FFP like the Championship does. Instead of Profit and Sustainability (P&S) rules clubs operate under the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) which restricts salaries to 60% of the turnover. Given that Derby would have one of the largest turnovers in the division (probably the largest if Sunderland go up) and that all of our high earners will have gone (most already have), I think it gives the management team some scope to build a very competitive squad around the talented young players on our books.
Of course some of our best players will be sold (or released), but I don't think it will be the clear out some might imagine.
And, as I have said before, League One is just the same old circus but with new towns in which to pitch the big top. After all, the mere act of going to the football each week is far more important than the football you are going to! Otherwise we'd all be Man City fans.
Agree, otherwise no non league football. True fans will watch whatever league they are in.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'll take the minus 21 now if it means a clean slate, if it means a sale can go through and if it means we can finally stop this constant merry-go-round of claim, counter-claim, charge, appeal, claim etc. The uncertainty is killing the club and having this hanging over us for the best part of two years does nobody any favours.
We have been poorly treated by the EFL. Mel has made huge mistakes. But the circus has to move on at some point and having negotiations and appeals hanging over us for the next few months, maybe even into next season, with no sale because of it, is worse than taking the hit now.
The fact is we've tried to take the EFL on at every turn and failed at every turn, costing huge amounts of money and time. It doesn't make it fair, or right necessarily, but it does tell you something - know when you're beaten and sometimes it's better to cut your losses and start again.
Don't think you are in the minority, maybe on this forum but i think the majority of fans will agree with you.

Someone on Twitter (Peterborough Utd fan I think) was opining that the Easdale's should come look at them, to which a Rangers fan replied:
"......got involved after our financial demise in 2012, ripped millions out of us. They are fairly well known gangsters in Glasgow tbh, everyone knows what they are. Horrible people. You wouldn't want them anywhere near your club!"
Obviously their opinion not mine just to caveat.
Do not know if its true, but i for one am relieved they have decided not to buy us.

Anyone know if you can pick up other people’s season ticket cards? My Dad doesn’t live locally, and we’d rather not queue up before the match tomorrow as it’s probably going to be crazy. His Fan ID is linked to mine on the website and I actually bought his season ticket though my account, so ideally I’d prefer to pop over mid-week and grab both of our tickets myself.
Yea you can with their id number.

How can you fail?
you just walk up to the counter, tell them why you are there, and give them your (Fan ID) details.
I was in and out in 3 minutes (yesterday. No queue).Did'nt realise they were on sale yesterday, thought it was today they started.

Just passing (12:15) and noticed a not too shabby real life actual queue at the TO.
from TO door to the players entrance, adjacent to the stadium main entrance. Single file, with no obvious signs of particular social distancing, so a good 40, maybe 50 outside?also no long snaking queue barriers inside, when I popped in yesterday (although these can quickly be put in place if needed, of course!).
Queues aren’t generally seen in a positive light, but under the circumstances, I quite like the fact that we remain healthy enough for queues to form (even if it is because they only have one till open! ?)
let’s hope they are all purchasing match day tickets for tomorrow, rather than just collecting their ST cards! ?
on a separate note, I noticed yesterday that both the Morris & Pearce nameplates are still in place, in the carpark.
I’m waffling now… goodbye! ?
There was a snaking line this morning, but 5 or 6 tills open,so we were soon served.

If it turns out that there is more than one interested party at the end of the due diligence process (ie people haven’t been scared off), do you think the administrators will just plump for the party with the most cash (I’m assuming the asking price will be the same whoever is bidding) or will they determine who would be the ‘best fit’ to run the club in the long term?
Obviously a moot point if it comes down to a bidding war, but if there’s more than one who can meet the asking price, I wonder what the criteria will be.Hope he manages to pull this off, he seems a much better option than Ashley etc.

At least back when I aspired to look like "one of the boys", it only cost £2.75 for a silk scarf... although to be fair, one did need two of them... one for each wrist! ?

Before all seater stadiums there was the option to buy seats or terrace tickets. Youngsters want to recreate the terrace experience by standing in the sests but unfortunately that is very inconsiderate to many loyal older fans. It's a problem.
They are trying to bring standing areas back, think that would solve the problem. Choosing to sit or stand.

As you can see from some of the comments above, there are still a number of fans who would prefer us oldies, women and children to stay away.
I am on the verge of packing it in too.
Thats a shame,i should imagine you have been going to watch the rams since the late 60's like me.

It’s not so much that but it’s their general behaviour. At Brentford a couple of seasons ago I and a mate went to our seats only to find a couple of these Stone Island wearing pipsqueaks sitting there initially refusing to budge. It was only when I basically told them I’d remove them myself that they eventually slouched off. It put me on edge because it could quite easily have gone wrong and while I can handle myself I shouldn’t have to get into this sort of crap with fellow Rams fans. They have no respect for other Derby fans, standing up all game in front of older people who have no option but to stand themselves even if they are physically struggling to do so and spending the entire match facing the nearest home fans giving it the big one. Something has got to be done because they are actively ruining decent Rams fans away days. Absolute ******** the lot of them.
Agree totaly. I used to go away 2 or 3 seasons ago but got really browned off with how some fans have got no respect for older fans or children. Wasnt enjoying a good day out anymore, shouldnt be like that.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but it's an interesting read.
My daughter said it was well known in Derby that he was into drugs at the time, so credit to him that he has turned his life round and can share his story and helo other young peole in the same situation.
