You need to go back when he was appointed. We could have had Wassall/Steve Mac or gone for a younger Manager dong well in the lower leagues, an Ian Evatt or Ryan Lowe….someone who had at least some experience……rather than a novice with no managerial experience, coaching experience or coaching badges. It was a vanity project from Mel to get his face in the newspapers and had nothing to do with his credentials or ability to do the job. All of those I mention would have done as well if not better than Wazza, a 24% win rate isn’t great is it……but we will never know will we…..

Ok,younger manager yes, maclaren no,but as you say we will never know, but as i saidnot everyone will be happy whatever happens,we all have our own opinions which dos'nt mean we are right or wrong.

I can imagine there would be a long list of inexperienced managers in their 30s with no previous managerial job on their CV and no badges/qualifications to boot earning £50k+ a week who would stick around, especially if they were unsackable.

We are not in a position to fire or hire anyone at the moment whatever their credentials, so i for one am happy he has stuck with us.

Where would he go? I think he is still pinching himself that e finds himself managing a team like Derby with no previous management experience, coaching experience or badges…..

Dos'nt need to go anywhere, got enough money to live for the rest of his life without lifting a finger. So he deserves some credit for not walking.

Well I would save a lot of money on going to matches, alcohol, food and TV packages and I also wouldn’t be freezing cold or wet for three months of a year.
I wouldn’t bother watching any other football as it would have no meaning to me

Agree, watching teams you hate lose, and games that can make a differance to our league position, but if we have'nt got a team whats the point.

Same - couldnt see either when I first went standing with the fences but loved every second. My first season there was when we went down to the third tier last time. Looking at these pictures does bring back that feeling of walking to the ground - cant remember it properly but the BBG was  like that opening line of Bagpuss - saggy old cloth cat worn at the edges but Emily loved him

Another favourite memory, beating spurs 4 0 i think it was, and seeing a player like greavsie playing there. Record attendance 40,000 plus. Think george best was the best player i saw there, but there again i could have been dazzled by his looks.??

First match... January 96. Top of the league v Reading. Won 3-0 Derby fans singing ‘we are top of the league.’ The worst thing was the view- I was too small. Could barely see. Loved the experience. The smells, the match day programme, the walk to the ground, the noise. Brilliant.

My first match cup match against chelsea 1968,night match with all smell and smoke from leighs foundry. Atmosphere was electric, hooked from that night.

Appleby/rush/moxey blandly led the club before.

They were able to show a total lack of ambition for the club.

There footballing links did not work out fantastically before, Derby were not known as the invincibles (reference one of Arsenal's former great teams) under their tenure.

Do you think we need a complete break from people who have been connected to the club before.
