I don’t think we can have any real complaints about the officials today (funny how we feel like that when we win ?). The only odd thing was when he booked Roberts for time wasting. Yes, he’d been taking longer over the throw ins than he should have but, he was finally booked for taking too long when the Rovers threw the ball at him and there was now way he could have caught it to get on with the throw in.

Well, well, who'd have thought it? Put players into a formation they are more familiar with, round pegs in round holes and watch them go! Credit to Paul Warne for making the change that resulted in our most fluid performance since he took over (I hope it wasn't only born out of necessity.)
I will start with Hourihane, because I have been particularly harsh on him. I thought this was his best game for Derby (goals notwithstanding.) Not surprisingly, this also enabled Bird to have his best game for a while. Their workrate and closing down was excellent. When they had the ball, they were spoilt for choice who to pass it to. Our midfield has discovered its engine at last! 
The defence worked so hard. The rocksteady Cashin the standout for me, but Fozzy marshalled them well and his experience was vital at times. Smith and Roberts worked their short socks off and got up to support the attack admirably. I felt a bit sorry that they let two goals in, but that was a very inexperienced combination. Despite this  Wildsmith didn’t have a lot to do, says it all.
But the plaudits of course go to the forward-line. The first goal was simplicity itself, McGoldrick stroking the ball into the back of the net. I think it gave him the confidence to go for those other two shots. The best finishing we've seen at Pride Park for a while. I'm so pleased a player of his quality has got his first career hat-trick in front of such a boisterous and appreciative crowd, who seemed to have recovered from Tuesday evening's lethargy. Well deserved, Didzy, and I enjoyed your comments afterwards on Radio Derby about managing your training time to maximise your time on the pitch. Warne, take note - it's not all about running around! 
Having said that, Collins - what an engine today, and he did make so much difference to the team dynamic. Mendez-Laing was excellent as ever and Dobbin more at home, although he does need to remember to track back with his man occasionally. 
4-2 at half-time slightly flattered Bristol, I thought, but plaudits to their fans, who got right behind their team.
After such an explosive first half it was perhaps inevitable that the pace dropped in the second, but we started brightly, should have scored more, and managed to hold on comfortably with the introduction of fresh legs. 
A word about the ref, I thought he did a good job (only missed the blatant foul on Collins just outside the box first half.) I did think Hourihane's was a booking. On today's form we'll miss him on Tuesday night. Hope we've saved some of today's fight for then.

Huh? Made it "accessible to the masses" by making most of the sports they used to watch for free on terrestrial accessible only to those with the spare wodge to pay for it? That's the exact opposite of what they've done. It's not the people's game anymore.
Sky's money may have brought allot of benefits with regard to facilities, 24/7 availability of sports for the addicts, tasteless exhibitions of wealth and entitlement by its star players, but it's completely screwed the 'football pyramid' and for many people turned it into something they don't want to bother with anymore.
So if people want to have a moan about their planned trips to Portsmouth and/or Ipswich being rendered impossible, and complain about train tickets and/or hotel bookings that they may not be able to get refunds on, they've got every right to, particularly here on this forum.

I remember this one well. We really travelled in good numbers back then, taking over wherever we went.
Certainly very lively that evening. 
Not sure if it was this game but some lads dressed as Vicars in the away seats to our right. 
Got most of the programmes featured up in the loft. 
Absolutely loved this season and hope this one turns out the same.

Doesn't really mean anything, just an extra few million when they bin him in a few weeks. Small change to what they've spent so far this season.

Having slept on it we really should have taken our chances in the first half.  We did look threatening when we got around their penalty area but didn’t capitalise.  I think Port Vale’s experience with this ref last season helped and was part of their game plan.  They were clearly told to try and go over at every opportunity and the ref, being a bit rubbish, is likely to give you something.  And to get in his face.
I’m still not sure Collins catches the defender and if he did was slight and not a full on forearm smash.  I also think it’s a heat of the moment act of frustration not intending to hit the player.  But, knowing some of the strange decisions the ref has made, it was a stupid reaction.  If there’s a couple seconds, the players have separated then he does that, nothing happens.  Doing it while on top of the player looks worse and I can see why the ref has sent him off.  I don’t think we appeal as, as we’ve seen on here, opinion can be divided.  I don’t think the footage is clear cut enough to overturn a ban.

Our team and the ref p#$$ poor, fair play to the Vale for taking advantage. Hourihane does nowt for me, im so disappointed in our midfield, it is under performing for me.

Agreed.   Lets stop pretending its a nicey nicey rivalry, it isn't end of.  I want Forest to lose EVERY week, always have.
