Really lazy from Buchanan there, needless offside position, promising attack breaks down. I really don't get what he brings to the team defensively and most attacks break down with him.

Surely CK doesn’t want to ‘raise funds’ he wants us promoted.

Disagree. I think they want to play for Rooney. Think Knight could go, possibly Bird (he’s good enough) but think the others will stay. Sibley needs a season in league 1 to get his mojo back, look what it did for Brennan Johnson

Rooney’s personal connections and ‘brand’ give him an advantage over other div 1 clubs. I think he will be able to persuade players to play in div 1 who would otherwise be looking abroad or for coaching roles. And his moves for Jags and Morrison indicate he has a good eye for those who will contribute at the end of their career
Agree with your comments about loans - another way Rooney’s connections might allow him to build a better squad for less cash. Maybe Frank will be our friend if he stays in post
Don’t follow your logic about the EFL business plan. You’re starting point is that big investment is required and surely the bp limits that
As for Rooney’s salary, interesting to see whether - as some on here suggest - he gets a small shareholding and agrees a lower salary in exchange. Sounds a bit like a MM wheeze for avoiding FFp problems ...

If ck takes over and rooney stays i think we will get a good crowd, especially if we win alot of games. Seeing your team play well and win games is what football is all about no matter what league you are in.

If Wayne Rooney stays, surely this sends a message of unwavering ambition for the club. His influence and enthusiasm has rubbed off on the squad and may well continue to do so.
More may stay than some on here think.

It's easy to blame the ref, but really, we need to blame Keogh.

Under GSE, with costs cut to a very low level, we were still losing ~£7m a year. And that was without the costs for a Cat 1 academy etc. If we go down to League 1, that's something like a £6m drop in income purely from TV money. You probably have to assume attendances are going to be lower at that level too. It's not rocket science to think a club of our size is going to be losing money at League 1 level, and require additional funding to cover that. If the intention is to pay some of the debts over 3 years, then that's a cost that needs to be covered too.
It's okay saying you're paying £30m for potential, and that absolutely is why Kirchner is buying us, but that £30m alone will come nowhere close to realising that potential IMO. And that's not including signings or anything, that's purely to cover the costs of running a near-Premiership set of facilities at League 1, and even Championship level.

Why is investment required, once the debts are compromised? Rooney has a handy knack of getting good players on frees, we have a strong group of youngsters whose wages won’t be busting the bank, and half the clubs in the leagues are struggling financially so the market for players’ wages has collapsed. The only cost item out of whack is Wayne’s salary and if Stretford is indeed advising CK I’m sure that will be finessed. The fan base puts us in a much stronger position relative to most championship sides, let alone div 1, once the legacy debts are addressed

Sorry Kevin I have been taking some time out to see if I could find a nicer me, and get away from the general negativity of this thread. You ask:
1) Do you think MSD could appoint admins at 202 tomorrow and arrange the grant of a 99 year lease of PP to the club? Interested in your thoughts.
2) It’s been suggested (recently) that MM has a £20m deposit collateralising a PG of £20m of the MSD debt, which complicates things. Quite possible that - in light of this - Q should have insisted that 202 was initially placed into administration.
I think if MSD were concerned about their debt they would have appointed an administrative receiver by now. As basically a short term lender, I would personally think if they ever did appoint an AR at 202 it would be to sell the stadium, rather than to grant long leases to anyone. They will want out imho.
You can tie yourself up in knots speculating what MM’s cross security to MSD might be, but Twitter is not a good place to find facts. My understanding is that Stephen Pearce, on behalf of the club (and its group of Companies) appointed Q. Neither 202 or 204 are part of the footballing group - they are arms length companies. Therefore Q had no place to insist 202 be put into administration too. Only an officer of 202/204 could do that, or a creditor such as MSD. Neither 202 or 204 are insolvent as far as I am aware.
There we go. Going to stay out of this thread again now for a while, until there is more factual information available as to CK’s proposals, and in particular the EFLs and HMRCs responses to them.

In the short term I am not worried about the stadium. Mel needs income from it. It surely can’t be difficult to establish a reasonable rent to new owners. Longer term, I’d much rather the council bought it and the club pays the council. In a way it helps the fans “own” the fabric of the club. This can take its time while the council do their stuff - or Mel hurries them along by reducing the price !

We basically have to pay football creditors in full, Quantuma’s fees in full (just their actual fees though, not the £10m listed above), and then pay the remaining unsecured creditors enough that they think it’s a better deal than liquidation. That’s the absolute minimum threshold to exit admin and stay a league member. That’s assuming the MSD loans are dealt with somehow (Morris carries on paying the interest for now, or council buy pride park etc).

Agree don’t think the complaints about officials reflect well on Rooney and don’t think they help the team at all.
Id like to see us start our experienced defenders and aim for clean sheets. Rely on our strengths not the ref
