Nice to be able to use it when we are just talking about fighting back at the end of a game, rather than nearly going out of existence. Agreed though, was stupidly emotional last season and it still was slightly when bringing back those memories.

Good to hear the 'we fight to the end' chant again. I remember how that almost brought me to tears last season.

I think the attendance will be higher than you suggest as there shouldn't be very many season ticket no shows compared to a league game. Those ST holders not coming won't have bought a ticket.

it's still my favourite Derby game of all time, I always knew Bobby Davison was better than Keegan

A great come back but my indelible memory of this game stood on the Popside is Keegan ( not long after Steve Powell nutted him ) coming to the touch line when Newcastle had a throw in. screaming at someone to give him the ball and some guy did a gob that went straight in Keegan’s  mouth ?.

I'm a bit in the middle of this problem, tbh. I don't mind standing but I am a bit of a short-arse and if I get a @Brailsford Ram or similar in front of me I really struggle to see (as I did on Tuesday - was it you, perchance? ?) Especially when the rake of the stand is shallow, as it is at Port Vale.
I don't necessarily agree with you @Srg that seated fans can't make a noise either, as I can and do make plenty! I also see plenty of standers at away games that don't join in any singing - or even applause. There's some right miserable gits in both camps!
But one thing I do hear is that our older fans who want/have to sit down at the front are in a running battle game after game with young lads who want to stand at the front and cheerlead, wave their flags, get on the tele in a celebration with players. Some of these are giving our own older/less able supporters a shedload of abuse, some of which is discriminatory, imo.
So, like we have one singing block we could do with one seated block, where you know you can sit, even if a few rows back. And the fans who want to celebrate with the players can still do so across the front of the other blocks. Of course, the Club can't advertise it as such as technically they are all seated blocks, but they could word it carefully, family block or quiet block or something similar. We always have a big enough allocation of tickets to make this possible.
I know some fans would rather these fans didn't go to away matches at all, but they are as entitled to watch their team as anyone imo.

I was stood just to right of the singing section and they did seem to start a lot of songs, but it certainly felt like many chants were starting organically all across the stand, singing two songs at the same time on occasions!  What impressed me was the variety of songs sung, mostly backing our team rather than the boring and witless, 'football in a library' and 'I wanna go home' chants.  Though I must admit, I enjoyed the 'who are you' chants aimed at those PV fans in the boxes who were giving us grief after they scored, so perhaps i have my boring and witless moments too.

Our season was well and truly brought out of it's slumber by a combination of them both.

1Wildsmith 7.5 Made several reliable saves and always looked composed. Not at fault for the goal although unlucky to parry into the path for their chap to slot home. Got an extra ½ for sprinting 80 yards in 4.3 seconds to join the celebratory scrum.
12Smith 7.5 Faultless defending and a regular provider of service down the right to M-L and Knight.
33Davies 6.0 Retreated from their chap who advanced to score what became the goal when he should have faced him up; otherwise moments of pure class including a steam train of a block/tackle on their front man.
3Forsyth 8.0 That pass through the eye of a needle to Dobbin that produced the 1v1 was George Thorn-esque. Also had a good right-foot shot saved and looked every bit the consummate professional footballer.
15Roberts 6.5 Vale got lots of joy down their right hand side relating to our formation but Roberts kept chugging away.
22 Springett 7.5 The guy is a greyhound who devours yardage in split seconds; sometimes the most seemingly innocuous thing you do on a football pitch creates the "butterfly effect" - Springett prevents the ball from going out with a slide and hook of grace, and 5 seconds later 4,000 Rams in pandemonium. Not for the want of keeping the ball in was this game lost.
4Hourihane 7 Great skill and deft touch early doors to set McDick up; visibly waned on a heavy,energy-draining pitch.
18 Dobbin 9 MoTM A game of 2 halves Brian - came on and from one perspective should/could have had 4 goals; poked 2 wide, hit the bar and thwarted by their keeper on the other; from the other perspective 2 match-winning assists by streaking past groups of defenders and put across 2 inch-precise low crosses for the goals. Phenomenal balance at speed and superb application and head-uppery when others would have been crest-fallen.
8Bird  8 The shiny, stainless steel cog at the heart of the machine turning all the other cogs and making the machine run to time.
11Mendez-Laing 8 That finish. The speed of movement. The blur of brilliance.
38Knight 8 The Irish thoroughbred with no off switch; Got through the work of 2 players on a life-sapping puddin' of a pitch.
7Barkhuizen 7 Great early craft creating opportunity early doors.
Collins 7.5 Late-ish sub and lots of pulling their defenders out of shape and physical box-presence to re-kindle the team's final push.
10McGoldrick Oh-So sweet feet stroking home & a little grin and word for the grounded centre-half was a nice little back-story to behold.
Rooney 6 2 minutes to muddy his boots.
Superb night; cup-tie style; a never-forgettable explosion of joy with all the ingredients that make football so very special and 4,000 fellow Rams united in voluminous rapture.

Just got home, I'm hoarse, got sore knees from too much bouncing and ringing in my ears from the absolute bonkers noise in the away end.
It's nights like these that David Clowes has given us back when they were so nearly taken away from us.
As for arguing about budgets and squad values, tonight of all nights!  There's only one thing you need to know - the togetherness of owner, squad, fans - it is priceless.

We were right behind the goal, 3 rows back. It was absolutely mental when we got the winner, random blokes hugging and jumping on each other. I haven’t embraced that many strange men since that party round Michael Barrymore’s
