The point is you telling the forum that if we we could afford to be in for the two Sheffield weds players then we could afford gayle ect ect , please reread your posts as it’s you who are being mystic Meg then eventually admitting you havnt a clue what the financial situation of any of these deals are or would be 🤷🏻‍♂️,,,,, very strange

Let’s not speculate on any signings ever then brainbox.

    1 goal every 6 games.

NML currently averaging 1 in 5 for us, Barkhuizen 1 in 7. They could do a job for us, no?

    But they aren’t strikers.

They may well do a job for us, I’ll be happy if they do but it just all seems unnecessary and a bit amateur to even be in this position.

But I’ve speculated enough I think about whether we’re doing the right thing or not so I’ll see how we get on today.

Perhaps because people are wanting us to sign him as a striker to score goals and it appears he hasnt really done that for quite some years?

Please see exhibit A: Shefki Kuqi record before and when signing for us on loan. His numbers look poor but he did a job for us for the 3 months he was here.IMG_0646.thumb.jpeg.45f440687e87a52a54dfff530311bbfa.jpeg

One mans generous is another man’s poke it up your bum , especially if he’s the type that won’t do a deal even if it makes sense ,IF we were in for them then we didn’t do a deal because they wanted more than we could or would pay , I ask again , care to tell us how much that is and how much wages these free agents want ? Much more than our current players who sit second in the league are on ?

I know as much as you unless you’re ITK so I’m not really sure what your point is.

What’s the winning lottery numbers for tonight?

So if we were in for them why did we pull out ? Perhaps we wanted to pay only a figure that fitted in with our business plan , care to tell what that figure is ? , perhaps we wanted to pay only a percentage of theyre wages 🤷🏻‍♂️

It was reported that our bids especially for Gregory were generous and only Chansiri madness stopped it. That would suggest we were offering a generous percentage.

Plus we’ve sold Bird so not exactly short of money relatively speaking.

My opinion is irrelevant to be fair.

The club either think they are good enough, or cannot afford them, and on that basis are correct not to sign them.

Not really how a forum works. If everyone had your attitude then any transfer story would be irrelevant.

    Dwight Gayle League appearances

    2023/24 season 0 goals in 10 games

    2022/23 season 3 goals in 35 games

    2021/22 season 0 goals in 8 games.

    2020/21 season 1 goal in 18 games.

    2019/20 season 4 goals in 20 games.

Five years, 8 goals, 91 games.

Personally I’d probably prefer the “melt from the national league” 👍🐏

Feel free to suggest someone whose been released by the national league.

I'm not saying anything, I have no idea on our budget or what wages players want, hence why I'm happy to leave it to the people who do.

You questioned my suggestions inferring they wouldn’t fit in to the business plan.

I’m suggesting that at least 2 of them probably would.

Im not savvy to our budget but if we were in for Smith/Gregory then they aren’t on a pack of fags and a mars bar for a wage.

  9. 26 minutes ago, G STAR RAM said:

So you'd rather play someone in their natural position regardless of how good they are?

Yes especially if it means we aren’t wasting NML. Plus it’s not like I’m suggesting some melt from the national league. These are proven professionals at this level.

  10. 41 minutes ago, G STAR RAM said:

And how do they fit into the wage structure of our business plan agreed with the EFL?

You saying Gayle/Wickham would want more than what we were willing to pay for Smith/Gregory?

He's out for the season - possibly back for Playoffs

We are in for a free agent striker who was set to sign for another LG1 club - not been told who yet

That’s Gayle then. Been linked with Port Vale.

Really? You seen the size of NML? He's a bit of a unit and probably even stronger physically than Collo. For his last goal for instance, he just brushes off two defenders and dusts them. The lad's got wheels to spare. Personally, I'd rather try and mark Collo, especially if I was a 6 foot 3 slow as a barge CB.

That said, I think Collo probably allows more runners off the ball as he's good at taking possession with a defender at his back and that's probably the one area he has a distinct advantage over Nate, though as I said, I'm pretty sure Nate has more weapons in his armoury overall. I certainly wouldn't be losing sleep if Nate were to play in the middle.

Don’t get me wrong he’d do a job. But then we’d lose his talent from out wide.

Plus if he was that good at playing up top he’d have done it more often in his career.

If Collins is out I’m sure we’ll get to see your point in action. Hopefully I’m wrong.

I'd give you Joao as a possible option but that's all.

Gayle - 3 goals in his last 43 league matches

Wickham - injury prone, having played only 42 games in the last 3 seasons with 8 goals

Mousset  - 33 games in the last 3 seasons, with 4 goals

Forestieri - 34 years old, played 40 games since 2019 season with 5 goals and since 2022 plying his trade in the Malaysian Super League.

I’m not saying they’re good. But if you would rather a winger have to play out of position for a month then that’s your prerogative. To me that scenario makes me sick.

They won't say anything till after 2pm Saturday I imagine

Maybe and whilst there will be a collective fist pump and buzz if Collins starts he's hardly Haaland. I'm not sure Stevenage will be quaking in their boots at NML or Barkz up top, so i imagine they'll plan for Collo starting until 2pm.

  15. 4 minutes ago, BramcoteRam84 said:

And they would all fit in our wage structure and there are no fitness concerns over any of them?

Didnt realise Forestieri was still playing, is he actually still playing. The other 3 wages or would they drop into league 1 would be the question. Wickham I think would be a reasonable target (willing to play in league 1 and affordable) but again the reason he’s playing at this level is because he has had a career that has been totally dominated by injury/fitness issues, which is the reason many are saying we shouldn’t have signed TJJ .

I reckon Gayle and Wickham would definitely sign. Joao and Forestieri maybes and Mousset probably not. But we basically need them to be able to play for a month until Wash is back as minimum.

  16. 3 minutes ago, G STAR RAM said:

So you think he should have been preparing for Waghorn, Washington, John Jules and Collins all to be injured?

Who are these freebies that will do a better job than Barkhuizen, NML or CBT up top?

Gayle, Joao, Forestieri, Mousset, Wickham just as some suggestions.

It’s not that I am pro or anti. It’s that the anti mob are so irritating. The so called pro side tend to reflect on the good and the bad. The anti are just fixated, win or lose. Never give an inch, dull, obsessed, spoilt, churlish and without perspective. I suspect that Those of us, (me included ) that are vaguely supportive, only post in a vain attempt to balance the one eyed vitriol.

Dreading Saturday .. looking like 4 strikers all injured, but it will be completely Warne’s fault if we lose, or pure luck if we win. Like a horrible scratched record.

Depends who you hold responsible for January as to whose fault tomorrow is if we lose without a striker on the pitch.

  18. Just now, G STAR RAM said:

    Why was it a farce?

Warne stated there was nobody out there that would improve us that was within our budget.

Like I’ve said about 4 comments back.

At that stage sign one of the freebies up til the end of the season. Madness we’re relying on Collins not to be out for the season in order to go up.

  19. 2 minutes ago, G STAR RAM said:

Well I wouldn't say Washington was an exciting signing but with his record at this level he looked a decent signing.

As for Waghorn you may want to revisit what people were saying after his hat trick at Peterborough.

To be fair people wouldn’t be questioning the signing after a hat trick.

Personally I was under whelmed by our forward signings. Maybe we’ve been unlucky to lose three out of four to injury but not addressing the farce of deadline day isn’t looking a smart move.
