    Yes.

Do you think if we get promoted to the Championship we will be using the same players? The ones that have all come through the academy or have been free signings?

I think we use the same tactics.

Our midfield has been unable to dominate games as you would expect from a promotion chasing team all season. It is going to be a nail biting finish to the season and we may yet stagger over the line. Unfortunately the brand of football played by a Warne team will be exposed by the better coached and higher quality Championship sides as it has been in the past at Rotherham.

Not true - even the lower level Championship sides will rip a Warne side apart.

  3. I don’t like the fact it automatically defaults to Wildsmith first on the drop down. If you accidentally go vote before realising it was a drop down menu then Wildsmith will get a larger proportion of votes than expected.

Would also be nice if there was a link to the YPOF after you’ve done the senior one.

Just looks like a Work Placement Kid has set these screens up.

Isn't the hospitality outsourced? In that the company that runs it (Delaware perhaps?) pays us a set fee each year for the rights to run the hospitality, and then whatever they make over that fee is profit for Delaware. I vaguely remember reading/hearing something about it being that kind of set up.

That is the catering in the concourses. (Not sure if the kitchens serving the posh food is outsourced or run by DCFC staff)

Hospitality is through the club - you can go on the club website and buy tickets for hospitality.

  5. We don't even sell the South West Stand Seats for hospitality on match days.

Maybe 300 seats there - £70 a pop including the meal? Never seems to be a lack of uptake on hospitality so by my maths...

23 games x 200 (I'm taking a lower amount of people here for an average) x £58 (Taken VAT off the number) = £266k. Minus probably around £100k of food/labour costs.

As a football club, we have to maximise all opportunities for revenue (such as £1 booking fee's and £2 for postage) but £160k of revenue could be created here and they don't do it? Why?

An xGOT of something like 0.61 would suggest those shots typically go in if on target...

They tend to go in when your GK dives upwards and not sideways 🤣

I agree with your assessment of the game, apart from regarding Wildsmith's handball. It's only a red card if he's denied a clear and obvious goalscoring opportunity, which it wasn't because he caught the ball well inside the penalty area, with Nelson between him and Bishop and more Derby players than Pompey around. I think the ref judged that correctly.

Hopefully see you next season in the Championship!

I was expecting a yellow for Wildsmith. How he got away with nothing was quite surprising - but then again, he also let their guy take out Sibley early on with no booking,

To be fair to the ref - despite the handball, he tried to let the players play as much as possible.

Only thing I’d add to this is that NML gives the ball away in dangerous positions when he isn’t on the wing. He can’t hold the ball when running back to our goal to receive it. His touch often lets him down.  He also runs square across the pitch and telegraphs passes leaving us on the back foot if the ball is intercepted. Safest place for him and the team is on the wing. Even if that means 30 mins against a tired defence

I don't disagree with you - but I'm not having our leading G&A player sitting on the bench with four games to go.

So the options are - either drop Ward, put NML on the wing in his true position and put someone else into the ten spot (When is Bird back?)

or keep it as is. To be honest - if Bird isn't back, I'd still keep it as it is and accept we have those weaknesses in his play in this position.

Who would you replace him with?

  9. Few people on this thread being critical of NML. Think this is a tad harsh for a few reasons:

    1) He's being played out of position. He's not a CF - he's a winger. He's being fitted into the team as he offers more flex than the other wingers.

    2) He's working within different formations of the team. Is it five at the back, is it four at the back etc

    3) He's had different partners up there with him - Collins, Wash, Waggy etc

For me - as soon as he went onto the right last night for the final 10 minutes - he looked better. He got the ball, took players on etc. HE's not really able to do that from a central position.

We have the luxury of having plenty of wingers but not enough central players. We don't have a number 10 in this squad (maybe Sibs?).

He is still one of the first on the sheet for me - and for anyone suggesting give him a rest - there are only four games left!!!

Another top class save from Joe yesterday preserving the 3 pts , hope he signs that contract

For every one of those top saves there are goals like tonight where he really should have stopped that long range shot.

Im coming to the conclusion I won’t be upset if he goes but should we go up, I’d also feel he owes us a little bit as well.

  11. Back home…

    Excellent performance. Points from me:

    - adventurous line up. Well done Warne.

    - CBT, superb. Keep this up in the last four games and this is a new player for us.

    - Adams, incredible force in the middle. If he had a passing range, well, he wouldn’t be in L1

    - Ward - pleased for him. First goal super finish, second he got a good break

    - Wildsmith - having watched the goal back, does he have a weakness on long range shots (thinking Stevenage as well). He has to do better and stop that. I don’t think he’s as good as he or is think he is.

    - The fans - we were incredible. Loud from the get go. Quieter second half as expected with their pressure.

There was a point in the first half though when just about all four stands were jumping around if you’re going up (or whatever the phrase is). It was awesome to see.

Portsmouth are good. It felt like a Championship quality game as well.

Overall,  very satisfied as wasn’t expecting anything.

  13. Sunny in Derby when I left at half two. Still packed the waterproofs.

Young teen behind me in a white jumper already freezing himself to death. Funny (but not funny).

A lot of fans caught out with the weather here.

Whoever put the rule in that stands should cover fans…. I salute you.

The way we played against Blackpool resulted in Ward tucking in or Mendez-Laing dropping off to make a midfield 3. Even in our 3412, the '1' (such as Barkhuizen) would be the 3rd midfielder.

I only hope that was a deliberate ploy against how Blackpool play - but you could also argue it worked.

I still wish we could have a style and play where we impose ourselves and we have the ball and we can create.... just accepted it won't be under this manager.
