    Squad for the Sussex game.

Some names noticable by there complete absence from the squad, including Harry Came, Alex Thomson, and Pat Brown.

I would guess Lloyd is going to open, Guest goes back to 3 and Lamb comes in at 5.

DuPavillon will make his debut, and I'd guess it comes down to Conners or Morley for the last place.

Middle order finally got in the runs at Headingley, a little shuffle at the top to try and strengthen the batting further.

2 overseas bowlers now can hopefully help in the quest to take wickets, though the bowling hasn’t been bad, the catching has just been abysmal.

Got to assume that Conners misses out?

  2. Clowes Developments makes in the region of £20m profit a year looking at their accounts. It’s an extremely well run business.

That company is pumping £5m a season roughly so far into the club to break it even. They have the money to do this whilst we operate on that structure. The Championship increases our revenues by circa £10m but so also brings a huge increases in costs.

DC (through his company) buying the club is 100% a sentiment thing to stop us going under. There is no way in any business sense he buys us as a business to make money. I honestly don’t think people truly understand just how much he has saved us.

My curiosity is that when you ‘look for an investor’ - what does that look like? Clowes Developments sells 49% stake in DCFC (not the stadium) for X amount to an investor and in return the investor agrees to invest an additional sum of money into the club, possibly spread over a certain time frame?

Again, I don’t see anyone doing this to make money - more they see DC as someone they can work with and trust. My issue with joint ownership models is how well they work out when conflict occurs.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but that was never a minority and the players seemed to have loved it.

I know every club has it's idiot supporters but ours seemed to be done in the right spirit. What a day

    I'm still buzzin

Agree - spirit and attitude of fans was good on Saturday and pretty much, no one did go onto the pitch until the referee blew the whistle.

I was concerned for a minute as I'm pretty sure a fan jumped on Collins back, and then when others did, he fell to the ground with a 1000 people coming his way - he seemed fine afterwards. Anyone else notice this?

  4. I didn't want to start a new thread but we lost another special fan last night. For those who know of Colin Attenborough, or remember a few months ago a message Paul Warne did for him (link below), he passed away peacefully in his sleep last night. I knew Colin by playing Poker with him - a great guy - passionate about the team - and I'm happy he was able to be with us until the promotion was secured.

    RIP Colin.

Nyambe perfect for one of the wider centre back roles and CBT in the front 2/3 depending on the shape

I wouldn't put Nyambe anywhere other than RB.

I definitely wouldn't put CBT anywhere other than a Left Winger (front four) or a Left Winger (442). I definitely would not put him central at any point.

  6. So the realistic feeling for me is that I just want to survive. I'll be slated but even against Carlisle, bottom of the league, party atmosphere, we had 7 shots, 3 OT and less than 50% possession. 7 shots in 90 minutes of football at home to bottom of the league!!!

I just don't think shutting up shop defensively, which we are very good at, will allow us to survive in the Championship. Teams are far better than us and will find ways around it.

I want two things to happen, one of which is obvious:

    - The need to inject better offensive players into this football club. This is very hard, players will look at our style and not want to be part of it

    - A coaching philosophy change from Warne. Don't be scared to have the ball, retain possession and trust players more.

What do I think will happen. We will be near the bottom and the pressure on the manager/chairman will build leading up to Christmas.

I assume that any un-renewed tickets will go into the general scrum tomorrow morning won't they ? They are surely not going to hold unrenewed seats just in case people have a change of heart ?

On previous years correct, but not read this years rules.

It says ST renewals are guaranteed until 4 p.m. today, (and it's now five past)

When I go on the DCFC website, there's no more availability than there was yesterday!

And there will probably be a week where existing ST holders can change seats before everything opens up.

  9. Sadly the minority will go on the pitch. That bit is inevitable.

I hope after ten minutes they return to their seats so the team can come back out.

Someone said do it in the directors box - that’s unfair on the players and unfair on the fans who stay in their seats.

I would like to think the players can walk around the pitch with their families with unlimited space and over the Tannoy each player can be introduced and thanked appropriately.

  10. For those of you who use it, I think you’ll all mostly agree the new format of it is dreadful, especially how they have removed the “show scorers” button.

Does anyone else have a good app where you can see all the scorers and scorers on the same page for all games?

Is Ashley Barnes out of contract ?.  He'd do a good job for a year if so.  Works like a trojan and is worth 10 goals.

Callum O' Hare out of contract.  He was excellent prior to his ACL.  Bit of a risk but if he can find similar form, would be a great player.

Spoke to a Cov fan earlier who goes home and away. Says O'Hare is their standout player.

Don't think we stand a chance therefore. We're not big enough or splashing the cash to be shipping around for that kind of player yet.

  12. I expect he will go with the same 11 again.

    I hope he doesn’t.

Why… because we have scorers and decent attacking players who offer more than the players on the pitch. We don’t need to be defensive at home to the bottom of the league.

Take Bradley and Tommo out and put in CBT and Bird.

    4-2-3-1.

He won’t though, we’ll still play five defender and three centre mids.

Nelson made a very shaky start from memory but has been immense the last 3 quarters of the season.

I had him down at fault for the Portsmouth first goal.

Cashin same for me, a dodgy start but, as he forged a partnership with Nelson, has been excellent.

However, I do think back to Lincoln where Cashin has his pants round his ankles for most of the game.

Wildsmiths form has been up and down but he has more than played his part, especially considering that he saved his best performance of the season for Bolton at home.

Lincoln away - you're right on that being Cash worst - the pace of their striker that day had Cash on a platter. Good job their striker couldn't hit a barn door once he'd beaten him.

Agree the save against Bolton was immense - probably the best save of the season and delivered in the most crucial game of the season.

Can't it be a testament to all three of them? A testament to the whole defence, in fact the whole team including Wildsmith.

It can be - but I think Nelson and Cashin have been better performers in their positions than I think Wildsmith has in his. I might be wrong but I don’t believe Nelson has made a single error leading to an opposition goal this year and Cashin maybe similar.

Im happy if he’s my GK next season, I won’t lose sleep if he isn’t.

That's right, they sell less than capacity, let folks sit where they want, then herd the latecomers into the two end blocks of the stands.

So infuriating for @DarkFruitsRam7and others stood outside.

Ironically, the seat spaces are quite generous compared to some grounds we've been to this season.

Seems very strange unless it’s a police decision given that the entrance to that bit of the ground is across one 2 metre wide narrow bridge.

If there is no safety reason then it’s weird, because that’s losing Cambridge maybe 100k of revenue a year. Anyway - we don’t have that problem next season!!!

  16. So what was weird today, I went to back row, directly behind goal (my actual seat was back row, 20 seats along but didn’t try to use it), and the two seats next to me remained empty. It also felt like around us there were a few empty seats as well.

So the mad rush I was expecting pre kick off due to in allocated seating didn’t materialise. It almost felt as if that stand could sit 1800/2000 but they only sell less.

    Really strange, but wasn’t unhappy!
