Peterborough are one of the weakest teams in the league. We should not be in the position of desperately holding on to a 1-0 lead.
Why would you wait to change manager? If Rooney's record continues we'll be mathematically down by the new year!

It feels like this debate has reached absurd levels now - reminds me of the Monty Python sketch "what have the Romans done for us" (yes, I know, I'm showing my age -  link below for the youngsters).
But rather than the Romans, it's "but why should we sack the management"
1 win in 15 last season
Stayed up by the skin of our teeth, and largely because of a Cardiff equaliser through Marlon Pack rather than our own endeavours
Easy start to the season against relegation rivals, but gain 1 point out of 6 and can't beat a league 2 side in normal time in the cup.
Utterly bizarre "tactics" (I actually think any suggestion of there being tactics is being generous)
Stubborn refusal to make any changes when nothing is working
Idiotic substitutions when changes are not needed
Youth players seem to have regressed, having grown under Cocu
Lauds youth players in a ridiculously over the top way -  "will play for England", then drops them unceremoniously
Can't seem to find a place for arguably one of our most talented youngsters, the only one who can change a game, and there are rumours of a Rowett-esque "not in my plans" discussion
    I could go on...
But, as certain posters on here will say "yes, yes, but apart from all that, why shouldn't we stick with him"?  Blows my mind.

No,not on our recent track record.
Of late,we only seem adept at regressing our players and keepers.
I remember with Mac in charge the first time around we were attracting a lot because of his reputation as a coach who could bring them on.

Sibley’s petulance wasn’t an issue here - he was fouled in front of the ref and grabbed the ball thinking he’d get the free-kick, especially when the Peterborough player kicked the ball at him twice - that should have been where the yellow card went.
His two cards have been harsh - the one on Tuesday was his first offence, after Salford had bern clogging our players without consequence, and yesterday’s was just plain wrong.

His best position is as a number 10 which has bern given to our Tom, even though he has absconded from that position. If we don’t give Sibley a good run in the team we will lose him, and then watch him flourish somewhere else.

Loyalty is a load of nonsense, they stay or go because of money or the lack of/prospects of a better job.
Lampard had a better offer,Rooney hasn't,end of and the only reason he's still here.

I'm looking at it through his time as manager of Derby,so last season and this one...you can't seperate them out as completely different things as they are not,one is a continuation of the other.
And that leaves us with one win in 18 league games and no improvement in style or results.
I haven't seen our Young uns improve,I've seen them regress once they have left the academy and start being coached in the first team.
Embosele looked great initially but in the last match,he looked to be losing confidence because of our misguided tactic of giving him the ball to run up the wing in every single attack we made....so predictable and it ultimately meant that he was constantly losing the ball as the opposition targeted him...far too much pressure on a young head.
Then look at Sibley and Knight, they were shadows of themselves under Rooney yet looked like superstars in the making before lockdown.
If you haven't got the coaching and tactics right in the first place the team is onto a loser before a ball is kicked.

I read this type of criticism often about Bird & I wonder what I'm seeing so differently. The modern game rewards players that don't go to ground when defending. This is exactly what Max is so good at...his positioning & sense of 'danger' is very good which means he often tracks the runner & either intercepts the ball or eases the runner off the ball.
I rate Bird's defensive work higher than Shinnie, who is old school, goes to ground but gets more plaudits from our fans because he's high energy & they equate that with 'passion'. Unfortunately the reason for that is because he's often drifting out of position & slow to react to danger so his only option is to do 'last ditch'.

One win in 18 league games curtains and we are getting worse not better.
A manager changing the system, players, goal keeper, tactics and anything else you can mention on a weekly basis will not bring success,it will bring chaos, confusion and ultimately relegation.
If he had a system of play that had been forming then it wouldn't matter because it would have been showing an improvement in our results by now but we still don't know week on week what he is trying to instill or achieve...and if we can't see it,how do we expect the players to?
The bloke just doesn't learn,he doesn't take advice and he believes his own hype, whatever the evidence in front of him days to the contrary.
Christ I'd rather have rowett back and I hated that football with a passion but at least we had a philosophy and you could see what and why we were doing what we did.
I might not have liked it but,at least it worked.
With Rooney we have neither,it's not good football and it doesn't work.

    What’s he done right?
he’s been very much involved in the coaching and tactics planning side of a club that’s been failing for quite some time and not just under one manager ??‍♂️, of course I could be wrong but my gut feeling is he s one of those who talks a great game as a pundit analysing where other are going wrong but not so great when he’s actually doing the job himself ,, there’s lots of them around

I used to think that too but so many of his decisions have been proven to be wrong that I've lost that faith now.
I honestly think he's wiped his hands of us now and it doesn't want to be involved in the big decisions anymore.
Wayne's here until he wants to leave or until we have new owners who can afford to pull the plug (which isn't happening anytime soon)

We have played two games against teams we needed to do well against and have 1 point to show for it. The performances look pretty similar to last season's shocking run and we have a tough run coming up soon. We have a totally inexperienced manager at a time when we need someone who can use their experience to squeeze every ounce out of incredibly limited resources...and we have an ex-England manager with decades of experience mooching about drinking tea. Seems wrong to me.

Apologies if this has already been covered but is there not anything in Rooneys contract that allows the club to terminate it with no compensation due to underperformance? If not then that is very poor negotiating as surely most contracts have that built in and certainly should have been the case for a rookie like WR? I thought MM was a shrewd businessman, clearly not

Ebosele's positioning leaves a lot to be desired though which is a major problem for the right back area. Against Peterborough 3 or 4 times in the first half he just drifted way too far inwards and allowed the ball to be played over him into space. Their main attacking threat in the first half was down the right and that was partly due to his poor positioning. Agree Byrne has had a shocking start to the season but think he deserves a bit of latitude given how good he was for us last year.

Morrison and Bird don't offer enough protection either for what is an old cb pairing and an ageing forsyth for me either. There's not enough positional awareness nor strength and tackling ability. That defence needs protection if we're not going to concede almost 2 a game and there's no way we're scoring 3 or 4. In the second half against Peterborough again we saw the problems dembele caused for us and there were plenty of times that the ball dropped in the middle third and they picked it up causing us defensive problems. For me it has to be a shinnie morrison midfield 2 as Shinnie and Bird doesn't work.

I think having a fluid front 4 is a good idea but personally I don't really get the love for watson atm. Never really seen him do much at this level to justify him starting. He was pretty much anonymous against Huddersfield and from memory he was last season when he came off the bench too. Even though ebosele wasn't great against Peterborough and I agree with your reasoning about him needing space to run into, I think I'd bench watson and put ebosele in that attacking right position rotating him around with the other 3 am's if possible.
