No, you are correct. I've never played football or been kicked.
    Thanks for that.

Exactly. Tell me the last game he didn’t go down with a potential ankle injury ?

There's nothing wrong with Lawrence. It's just what he does.

Lawrence got a kick to the ankle. Milking it for all its worth.

And then we all woke up and realised it had been a terrible dream. Off we go to watch Steve McClaren's mighty Rams play their first Premier League game after beating Queens Park Rangers at Wembley. The year is 2014

Yes. A player being stretchered off is usually a good thing.

For your first point - name one chance we had in that whole half against a team who have conceded 7 in two.

For the second point, it’s Rooneys bozeyed system that’s meaning the forwards are having to drop deep. Bird is in the vacated RB spot just as Rooney wants which means there’s no one central to provide an option.

The players aren't bad,I agree, they are doing what they are told to do
    It's our tactics...dreadful and unimaginative

Doesn't matter who's up front when the build up play is almost at walking pace.
And 2 of your better attacking options in Lawrence and Morrison are spending most of the game in the opposition half.
Peterborough conceded 3 goals first game. All came from crosses.
We've not put a cross in yet.
I have no idea what the game plan or tactics are here.
Which is pretty much continuing on from last season.

This system is crushingly bad. I understand the idea behind pulling a CM into the left back spot to allow the left side forward to come inside and Forsyth/Buchanan to provide an outlet out wide but I just don’t understand doing it both sides. It creates congestion on the sides and loads of space in the middle that we have no one in.

That’s the reason the ball is doing the old horse shoe around the back of our team today because there’s nothing in the middle.

Shape and system not right. Need to see a change unless we’re playing for a 0-0. I really expect better from a Derby County team. This is dull, tedious and uninspiring. There are 2000 fans who’ve travelled and deserve more.

    Woeful.
I never learn. I was realistic but as the season starts, I get ridiculously optimistic. I start thinking maybe we're not so bad, maybe we'll do better than I expected.
    Some hope.
    We are really poor.
Where's those who criticised Cocu's team for passing it around at the back?
Why is Lawrence playing so deep? Getting the ball from the central defenders, then giving it back to them.
So Rooney's tactics are to push the full backs forward. Did anyone tell Forsyth? In fact, is Fozzy even on the pitch.
Shinnie and Bird, short passes going nowhere. Why two players of that type?
Pleased to see Ebosele but he's naive giving away free kicks when attacking.
    I despair. This hurts.

That Rooney/LR are harming the on field side as much as Morris/EFL have off field.

Pretty much where I am. Firstly, its pointless folk ranting about sacking him as its simply not going to happen & given the state of the club, they all need supporting not smashing every game. No decent manager is waiting in the wings to carry this mess & the idea McClaren is the solution is being ignorant of his record...he is not a rescue merchant or a club builder, he's a very good coach of exceptional players.
The point about trying to instill a set style is why I'm warmer to Rooney than last season. I can see we're trying to play but that isnt going to happen overnight especially with such a young, thin squad. Disagree with the split midfielder tactic & want it abandoning now but no problem with them trying new ideas to get an edge.
What is also getting overlooked is the lure of Rooney getting players into the club. No way would Ravel Morrison have come here if Rooney wasnt here & that is an edge we need given our current financial & logistical woes. His presence will also help with a takeover, something the club desperately needs. The time for appraising Rooney & deciding on his future is when that goes through.

Because the idea that someone is just crap and refusing to acknowledge factors that attribute to a players performance are daft. Hence why some players go on to look amazing at other clubs after looking poor at others. It isn't that simplistic.

Pep said he got tactics from a pack of flying geese from a drone as it looks like Rooney got his when the drone flew over 2 otters on the opposite side of each other drowning while building a damn and the others otters standing around watching

Because our esteemed glorious leader El Wazzo thinks he is the next Pep Guardiola
Because he has seen Man City employ it tactically at times last season he thinks it will make him look like a genius if he is doing it
The problem is he doesn't have a team capable of playing with the sophistication required to make the tactic work or experienced assistants to tell him what a fool he is being. No experienced manager would dream of doing what he is doing right now.
Just shows how clueless he really is - the sooner he decides he's had enough using our club as his own personal plaything & disappears back home to Coleen the better

Can someone explain to me the rationale behind the split midfielder tactic? I’ve never seen anything so ridiculous. We push both full backs high, and replace the full backs with our central midfielders Meaning our attackers drop deep into midfield to receive the ball, leaving the centre of the pitch exposed. Very bizarre.
Early days, but so far I see very little benefit. The midfielders are 60 yards apart. We can’t build up play, can’t create angles and everyone, bar the full backs, drops deeper. I’m guessing the idea is to create overloads on either side, but we barely get the ball higher up the pitch to make this effective. Weird tactic.
