Okay, yeah, I see your point, and I had lost site of the original post. I'm not sure personally the two issues can be separated that easily, but I accept I missed the point somewhat.
A quick change of ownership makes all this immaterial though, so that's the hope..

Just got home. It's been a long day. Bright and sunny down in Bristol, but some horrendous driving conditions in torrential rain from just below Birmingham on the way back.
To answer some questions about what we expect given the resources at our disposal, I think I expect a bit of fight and for the players and management team to at least have a go.
I thought we got that second half, and you could tell that's all the majority want from the way the fans got behind the team.
First half team was "meh" and so were the fans. Not sure how much of that was down to Rooney and how much to players not following the plan, but I was pleased to see him have the courage to change it up at half time.
Felt the ref didn't help, he seemed to be giving them everything and us nothing. Whether it's true or not, it was affecting morale. Also, any ref that has to walk 40 yards to book a player because he won't come to him is not in control of the game. And as for the farce over the time-wasting towel routines - ugh.  I can see why he's been demoted from the Prem!

Poor again today. No hiding from it. Of course the gainsayers will have their day again, smugly pointing out what everyone knows as if nobody else has noticed. It's almost as tiresome as the off the field malarkey. We've seen what Rooney is trying to do and in some games there has been a discernible style. It's up to the players to put it all on the line, be brave and ty and play their game, but unfortunately our squad is pretty limited and their form is patchy as a result. That said, it must be hard to keep fighting when there is so much uncertainty around the club's future and us rubbishing them after every poor performance really won't help matters.
Sadly, I see a few having a pop at Festy today. I wonder if any of them were the the same posters questioning why he's not been starting games? The lad's just turned 19 FFS. I mean tear down the senior players all you like, if you really must, rubbish the gaffer and his coaches too because that always helps, but would it be so hard to give the young'uns a chance before spewing all the 'overrated' BS? He wasn't even that bad today. If I were him reading some of the stuff getting posted, likewise all the other players that some see fit to roast, I'd have my agent planning my exit now.
With friends like us lot... ?

There is always calls for the manager to go when results are poor. But normally it relates to when a squad is not achieving their potential - this squad is achieving it's potential most of the time.

    Latest statement from the club:
"After the recent defeat away to Bristol City, it is looking ever more likely that DCFC will be relegated to League 1 by the end of the season, and ever more likely that @Ramley Apple will be crowned the dcfcfans poster of the season, due to his extended knowledge, wisdom, and unceasing realism.  We would like to go on record to thank @Ramley Apple for his continued and questionable support throughout this difficult time, and only wish that more of our fans had the same realistic outlook, if only to put to bed these ridiculous dreams of survival that has poisoned the club thus far this season.  Perhaps now, those fans will sit quietly and despondently for the remainder of this season's games, and let us just get on with confirming our relegation at the very earliest opportunity".

We'd be pretty close to the relegation zone now even without the massive points deductions. This kind of performance shows why. I think it's miraculous we've done as well as we have with a paper thin squad of kids (some of whom aren't half as good as we think), ageing journeymen and a couple of senior pros who aren't exactly pulling up trees.
Just hope we get the off field stuff sorted soon, because a bit of a reset is what we need.

No idea why it's important for fans to be 'pragmatic' in accepting relegation. We don't run the club. When fans talk of 'believing' in incredibly unlikely things, they are often expressing hope rather than _literally_ claiming they think the unlikely thing will happen. And sometimes that hope is important to them, and it doesn't affect me, and it doesn't affect the club - unless we think the administrators (we are in administration, by the way) set their strategy according to this message board? That they are swayed by emotion?
Do I think we will be relegated? Of course; I'm pretty much certain of it. But it's not my business to go round stamping out tiny flames of hope.

3 holding mids in the middle, a RB at RW, a CM at LW & an attacking mid upfront - little wonder we create next to nothing

It's funny how people remember Commons differently - I though he was really good for us. He speaks really well of his time at Derby here. To me he just comes across as a proper professional, respectful of all the clubs he's played for. It's hard to blame him for not wanting to take a wage cut.

Agree with all that. We probably needed him as a deep lying playmaker earlier in the season when we were struggling to put our foot on the ball but now with Bird & Thompson there (and Bielik to return at some point), we need Ravel to make his presence felt up the park. Maybe he's going need a bit of time to get used to a more advanced role & to be fair, he wasn't exactly overburdened with service tonight. Poor work rate not acceptable but he did look very frustrated when he came off.
Given how short we are in the final 3rd, I'd like to see us persist with him there again -  it may work better in games where we have more of the ball. I also suspect Rooney will be having a word with him before we next play.

Morrison is a bit of a worry. I'm fine thinking he no longer has the zip or physicality to be a dynamic forward player. But it looked like he wanted to reinvent himself as a playmaker who had killer passes and vision that others lacked. All well and good but his workrate seems to have dropped right off and he just isn't finding space or demanding the ball, and he's lost that early precision. I hope it's a blip - we really could do with those players with a bit of extra quality that brings the best out in others.

Have to confess these results do sadden me more than they would have in previous seasons. The coaches, players and fans are giving it some proper welly, but to drop 16 points from winning positions in only 20 games is hard to take. I'm a pretty resilient character, or I like to think so, so I tend to bounce back quick enough, but it's hard to vocalise how much I admire the attitude of the players in particular. Hearts of lions, the lot of them. Unfortunately, this squad is threadbare to say the least and lady luck has abandoned the lads completely it seems. Maybe we used up our share against Fulham ?‍♂️
