See, and I don’t know if it’s because assists weren’t a thing back when we had him, Commons directly contributed to 24 goals in 49 games in his first season for us. This is in a piss-poor side.

Had to skip all the stuff about Forest, but interested to hear about his time here.

Seems he came to us because his contract wasn't being talked about at Forest, then left us even though we offered him a new contract. We offered him less money because we were cost cutting at the time, but he wanted the same. Celtic offered it to him, so he went.

He seemed to be having a bit of a dig at the club for selling him to Celtic, but he'd instructed his agent to act on his behalf to get a better deal.

Not sure what that is all about.

It's funny how people remember Commons differently - I though he was really good for us. He speaks really well of his time at Derby here. To me he just comes across as a proper professional, respectful of all the clubs he's played for. It's hard to blame him for not wanting to take a wage cut.
