Also a real test for some of our impatient fans, not you obviously 🙂

Based on what we have signed up & PW interest in Adams - I hope we add another Bryson like midfielder still.

For the love of god, please can people put their Fozzy comments in the retained list thread, or a separate thread for our brilliant longest-serving player. This is the Wildsmith thread. The clue's in the name.

jimtastic56 got a reaction from abertawe_ram in Sibley too good!
Looking back , Sibley has divided opinion over the season . Since his hat-trick V Millwall , I have been a fan of his . But I now have to admit , that even more than Max Bird , a change of scenery would be good for him .

So looking at the retained list we need :
New Keeper
3 new midfielders
Winger
2 new strikers
( assuming Collins& Sibley stay )

Sorry but wing back is not Sibley’s best position. He did a job for us last season-credit to him for being a good lad and team player.
But having watched a fair few championship games last season the wide players are stronger quicker and good with the ball at their feet. Much better standard of football than the last time we where in the championship. I’m afraid Sibley would be rinsed most weeks at wing back.
He’s a 10 and needs a team that’s going to play to his strengths and a manager that’s going to tell him he’s going to play every week through the ups and downs then we may see the player that came through the ranks with so much potential. That could be back in L.1
Big decision for lad.

Strange that , because Warne had him taking all the dead balls near the half way line . Creating numerous chances . In 10 games time , we could be talking about him again .

I’m sad. He didn’t concede at the South Stand end after January 1st, and who could forget THAT save v Bolton, to maintain that record.

Wildsmith getting some keyboard warrior abuse on good ol' social media. He's completed his contract, a big part of the promotion campaign. Proved to everyone he can be a number one and not a bench warmer.
Well done Joe. Good luck for next season.

Dignified exits for Smith & Hourihane, two model professionals who would not really contribute in the Champ. Wierd exit for Wildsmith.
I honestly dk how Forsyth gets an extension triggered from last seasons appearances.

Not Warne's biggest fan but I'm very encouraged by this released list.
Will see who comes in now.
He clearly recognises we need an upgrade, hopefully he can deliver it.

Bit disappointed we still have tommy barks, average at league one sure as hell aint champ standard anymore imo
as some have said may not have been the clubs call

All seems about right. Smith is 33 and we need to build for the future with more legs and not block the pathway of the academy.
Wildsmith probably came down to money but there’s a few decent keepers kicking round on frees to pick up.
Gonna need 4 midfielders and 2/3 strikers just to replace the outgoings so an interesting summer ahead

So Warne is shopping for an entire midfield this summer? Hopefully we're already well down the path on that.

Wildsmith might have been a 'had discussions never going to meet' so released situation.
2 goalies and Smith makes me think something has to be lined up, Midfield looks anaemic now.
At least it's out, we know where we need to strengthen ever more so now. Let's hope Warnes been working on this already, there is work to do to get bodies in, plus quality.

Local media view;
Interested in the wording by Dom Dietrich, “Tom Barkhuizen and Craig Forsyth activated clauses”…. Sounds like it was in the players’ favour rather than the club’s? 🤔 Appearance based as hinted at earlier in the year? Or am I scrabbling for a conspiracy that isn’t there 🤣

jimtastic56 reacted to Ilsonram12 in Retained List
So keepers, load of midfielders and strikers needed
Wildsmith must of had a decent offer elsewhere to move from being a number 1, the rest I'm not surprised with
-
jimtastic56 reacted to Srg in Retained List
Yep.
Be nice to keep Sibley if we can, but not worth overpaying for it.
Same with Collins. He has a bit of value as a late bit of b****** off the bench, but if he wants more than that, he needs to go.

Surprised we didn't offer Korey a year personally thought his performances at the end of the season were a big help in us going up.
-
jimtastic56 reacted to Rich3478 in Retained List
No, but signings can be announced. Just can’t be registered to play which is no issue at all.
stoke signing the keeper we were linked with for example

Barkhuizen, Forsyth, Thompson triggered 12 month extensions.
Collins and Sibley still discussing new deals.
Robinson signed a new 2 year deal.
