I had no idea that is what caused him to be out for so long. Very pleased he was back playing well towards the end of the season. All the best, Tyree.

Thought this might be worth posting here:
A 32-year old man has been convicted in Nottingham for stabbing Tyree Wilson last year

I hadn't heard about this, but it's a horrible thing to happen to anyone, and I hope the young lad's doing alright in the aftermath.

Close it down - Moor Farm, the lot.
The players can train on Pride Park pitch - a few star jumps and the like - and then we can get some caravans in on to the training pitches. £1000 per week for a berth, and daily use of palatial gym and catering facilities. Mel Morris to paint kids faces, and Owen Bradley to organise evening entertainment (inc. Gibbo playing the mouth organ, and McClaren doing long monologues mostly about himself). Much more sustainable business at this time.

That's U23 players, not academy though.
After 41 games, percentage of minutes to U21s:
1. Blackburn - 24.22
2. Derby - 24.06
3. Norwich - 20.61
4. Stoke - 19.42
5. Watford - 18.25
Others you listed: Barnsley (8th), Brentford (11th), Forest (14th), Millwall (21st)
Percentage of minutes to academy graduates:
1. Reading - 31.95
2. Derby 22.55
3. Blackburn - 20.51
4. Boro - 18.59
5. Norwich - 17.14
Others you listed: Barnsley (14th), Brentford (=21), Forest (10th), Millwall (17th)
Probably puts a completely different spin on the academy than that Twitter post you found.

And the answer is, it appears to be the one aspect of the club that is working. ?
How can it be the future of the club if it isn't working? You can't rip it up cos we're broke and reinstate it in a couple of years.

Yet another example of the bad luck the club (and Mel) has had is that our national PL2 title winning under 18 squad are coming to maturity at a time when transfer fees are depressed by the pandemic.
As for philosophy, I think the academy has had a fairly consistent style and identity for some time now. The problem is that the first team style has chopped and changed along with managers and necessity. Will Rooney try a more attacking brand of football next season when he starts from a level playing field? If he doesn't, our current crop of youngsters who were brought through to play attractive football, will not shine or gain value.
I actually feel more affinity with our academy than I do with the first team at the moment.

I’m quite encouraged about the Academy at the moment to be honest.
The U23s have been very competitive lately .
The Academy players have to be introduced into the first team at some time or other or go on loan .
I am more confident than most it would seem about next season

Could be a little controversial but I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on the current academy model.
Here are mine:
Back in ~2015 Mel made the statement that he wanted around half of the first team to be made up on academy players within 5 years. Here we are at that point and that hasnt seemed to materialise. I can understand the model given our continuous failure in the transfer market and heavy investment in the academy. Develop younger and sell on for profit makes sense, bringing through player with 'the Derby way' who can slot into the first team, offer the best prospects in the country an easy path into championship level football to attract the best. However I am sceptical whether this can happen in reality.
I cant think of another club in world football that has half their team made up of academy players and still remain competitive (maybe Athletic Bilbao?).
If the model is also to sell the academy players when they can command a fee, which is seems to be the case (bogle, lowe, whittaker) then how can we be competitive while also selling the best our academy produces? We would probably need to be churning out a Will Hughes or Bogle in half of the positions in the team every 3/4 years if promotion/the premier league is still the end goal. I dont think we can sell players and replace them at that rate.
I also dont think that we are able to bring in the best the country has to offer, and when we do have them, the bigger academies can still poach them for pennies (Kellan Gordon).
This certainly isnt an academy bashing post either, I think the young lads have done really well under the circumstances this season, but I think too much has been asked of them before they are really ready.
Do we need to have a bit of a rethink if there is a change in ownership?

4 year deal. That's how they do it. Spend 3 million which is the equivalent of some magic beans. Loan them out for a couple of years at a million in loan fees. If there good enough they play them, if not, but good enough for the championship top end, sell them for 4/5 million and make money. Otherwise sell them to a middling championship club for a couple of million and with the previous loan fees break even. A no risk venture. The premier league cattle market in full swing.

Really excited by these lads. In a shitty season it's been easy to overlook the steady line of talent rolling off the academy production line. I've banged in endlessly about Ebosele, but no apologies on that score. I think the kid is destined for big things. Nothing lightweight about him and he'll be smashing the big lads off the ball and screaming up the flanks in no time. I can see him terrorising a few experienced FBs this season.
Louis Watson oozes class to my eye and I just hope he's managed properly this season. He's a kid who seems to always find time on the ball and always looks up the pitch too.
Stretton looks as natural as striker as we've seen come through in a long while and I'm hoping in what may be another tough season, these lads can give us something to cheer.

They lost 1-0, goal in the first half. Nothing game tbh,.
Ebosele came on at half time, did well in his 1 on 1 defending as usual, didn't really get any opportunity to get forward.
Watson came on after about 80 mins, at which point Ebosele got pushed upfront. I don't really get it tbh, can't see him having a career upfront, seems a waste.
Couple of decent passes from Watson (one to Ebosele I think) but nothing of any real signficance happened in the 2nd half, so nothing more to say than that.

Well guys he might not be Sheffield untied for much longer he being linked with premiership club and could be going and could be going 30m plus if so we get 15 percent of that and might give roony a bit of money to rebuild of our team.
